There are many things to watch out for with a new MLM company and we’ll take a look at a few of them.. Let’s take a look at a brand new "Ground Floor" opportunity. The company has a great consumable product or service and seems like everyone will want it. Looks like they have a compensation plan that should interest any one who wants to make an extra buck. So what else is there?

Is there an extra charge to join in addition to the program? Some programs have a start up or set up fee. This is usually to pay to get you into their system.. Place you on the computer and assign you your ID number. Sometimes your Welcome package and promotional kit is included in this charge. Make sure it is a charge that is not too excessive. Some companies, believe it or not, charge exorbitant fees for this service and make a bundle.. They couldn't care less whether you stay in the program or not as they’ve already "taken you to the cleaners" to a certain extant. If you stay in, all the better, but they sure have not lost any money on you and plan not to!

Is the program well financed? Are the founders of the company debt free or are they using your monthly dues or purchases to finance their company? You sure don’t want your MLM company existing from "paycheck to paycheck!" You want them to be in a solid financial position so they can "roll with the market punches." They sure don’t have to be "well heeled" but they should be in a position that they can at least see their way through so tough months if necessary until they become established. You sure do not want to invest your time and money only to see them go down the drain if your company cannot survive a few slow months. Nothing ruins good relations with your company more than some bounced commission checks!!!

Do they have their company plan of action set? In other words, you don’t want your company changing their pay structure or products, services or requirements as often as you change your socks. It’s really disheartening to work up a complete marketing and promotion program, along with hundreds of dollars worth of printed materials, only to find out your company has decided to drop their main product or service, or go from a 3 X 6 matrix to an unlimited first level matrix. Make sure these dudes have already constructed a Marketing & Compensation program that they can live with for at least a 6 month period.. I’ve been with companies that seem to jump from one thing to another every other day! Not only is it expensive, but you can lose a lot of good friends and associates who get disgusted and not only give up on the company, but you too, for getting them involved with it!!! You need this aggravation like you need another hole in your head! We’ll discuss more in this important subject in future articles...... Take care ‘til next time... ... Chuck
