We're starting today with another beautiful sunny but chilly day! We were in the 40s this morning! That's chilly. But then again tomorrow IS October.
I've been seeing scads of squirrels lately. Looks like they're all looking for food to stock up for the winter. I have no idea where they've been the last month but all of a sudden they are all over the place, (around here).
We may have a frost before the week is out so it looks like my tomatoes will definitely be over by the end of this week. I had planted them so late because of the weather, I was worried that we would get nothing from them before Fall came but we've been very fortunate, as not only have we been eating tomatoes for a few weeks, but Betty has made spaghetti sauce twice already!
With the colder weather arriving here it's time for us to prepare for winter. Hopefully this coming week we'll have the time to clean our furnace.  That's one of the main jobs. Today we're headed for the attic to close the window up there and seal it and also to the basement for the same. That should help some until we get to the other stuff completed.
As yesterday was Monday I received a large bag of mail and it took me several hours just to open and sort it.  Plus, today being the last day of the month I must get the monthly work done for the Once A Month Association. That will take up most of today. Then I'll immediately get to work on all the entries that I received yesterday for the two - $2 downline builders...  Whew! Just thinking about it get me roused up and rearin' to go..... soooooooooooooo.. for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Tuesday!!!!

It's a beautiful sunny Monday to start the brand new week here in Central Pennsylvania. There's a nip in the air but that's expected this time of the year.
I did get a lot done here in the office over the weekend and finally got caught up with the mail. The 4 day power outage last weekend really placed me behind on the mail. So much of it comes in daily that if I don't take care of it that day it really builds up fast! Plenty of leftovers of other things to get done today. We, Betty and I, will also have to do some shopping this afternoon to pick up some things to get ready for the coming winter months. We have several windows out in our attached garage to make new storm windows for and install. We've been thinking of making them out of plexi-glass but we're not quite sure yet. I'll have to do some measuring this morning.
Our Phase II downline builder for the Coin Savers Club comes to an end tomorrow, September 30. Our new downline builder will begin October the 1st and will be posted on the Web at that time. Looks like we're going to have a large amount of "joining packages" to mail the first couple of weeks of October. I'm really looking forward to see what our conversion rate is from the $2 program to the Main mail order program this time. I really am looking for a very good sign up rate and will be working to achieve that goal. I'll post how many we have in the downline phase II after tomorrow.
Lot's to get done here in the office before we head out shopping so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Monday!!!

T.G.I.F. Looks like we're in for a beautiful day here, at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania.
It's off to the doctor's office again for me this morning for blood tests... It shouldn't take too long, actually just long enough to mess up this morning and early afternoon. These are follow up tests from the CAT Scan I had on Tuesday of this week. The appointment is not as early as the CAT Scan was but it is for this morning, so I'll be leaving here soon.
Hopefully I'll be back in plenty of time to get some work done. This weekend I WILL be working the entire weekend as I'm still catching up from the power loss of almost 5 days last week and the beginning of this week. Boy, between the weather and the doctor's appointments I've been burning the midnight oil just trying to keep my head above water..  I did get a lot of phone calls yesterday. They take up a lot of time but I do enjoy talking to my associates once in a while.
I sincerely hope that you have a relaxing weekend and do all that you plan.  Right now for me, I must get a few things done before I leave so it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!

It's another beautiful day here in central Pennsylvania.
Yes, things are finally getting back to normal. I'm  catching up some with my work and that feels pretty good...  There are some small things that keep popping up that need attention though. I came home yesterday and checked my machine for messages. The first message on it said, "Chuck, I'm not sure if this is you or not as I just got a weird greeting, but if it is.......". I thought to myself what the heck is he talking about? So I then listened to the greeting on the answer machine and it was like when it was new, a woman's computer voice that says, "After the tone please let message." I guess because of the electricity being off for over 4 days it had lost all of it's programming. Now of course I'll have to record a new message. Only trouble is, I'll have to find the owner's manual first to learn how to do it! It's been way too long since I did it the first time to remember how.
The Susquehenna River that runs though our back yard is on it's way back down into it's banks. Whew! That's a relief! It got within a couple of feet of my tomato patch. I will still get tomatoes for another week or two. Thank goodness! So with all the rain we've had over the past week or so plus the hurricane we did fare out pretty darn good. No big damage to our house or property and the river didn't get high enough to cause us a lot of problems. Our biggest problem was the lost of electrical power for several days.
To my mail order friends.... I should be back on track and mailing out the last issue of my Chuck's Mail Order News & Opportunities magazine/newsletter by the end of this week.. It's been a struggle..  sorry it's running so late!
Our 2 Bucks for SUCCESS downline builder, Phase II, for the Coin Savers Club will end next week on September 30th. All of you who are in it will be receiving your downline reports and joining materials in October. I will be mailing them out the first and second week of the month.
I still have yesterday's mail to get though so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Thursday!

It's a beautiful day here, in Central Pennsylvania! The first day of Fall and it really feels like it. There's a nip in the air but it's clean and crisp. The mighty Susquehenna river that runs in my back yard is on the rise as we have had a lot of rain the last couple of days. Coupled with the rain that hurricane Isabel brought through our area last Thursday & Friday the soil cannot absorb any more water and it's all running off into the small streams and then into the river. They are not calling for any river flooding as of yet but we are keeping an eye on it. My main concern is at the moment it's getting awfully close to my tomato patch!  No, NO, not my tomatoes!!!  This has been a heck of a year for my tomatoes. First I lost the first two batches of seedlings and then the river came up high in the early summer and I had to dig 'em out, (click here for pictures), and then replant them after the river went down, and now this...... Oh well at least we're getting back in shape after the hurricane. We have JUICE, ELECTRICITY that is! Boy, you don't appreciate it until you lose it for 5 days! Once you lose it, it's like being catapulted back into the early 20th century. It's like when I was a kid of 11 years we moved to our farm. Until then we had lived near Linglestown, Pa. actually the suburbs of Harrisburg. As far as I can remember we always had electricity and inside plumbing but the first year or so on the farm we didn't. Actually it's just a struggle to keep clean and bathed. It's a chore to get a bath. First we had to carry water from the hand pump on the porch to the kitchen wood stove to warm it for a bath and then dump it into a huge tub which my brother and I both used before it got dumped out! Yeah, those were the days alright and they weren't that much fun although we did have our good times and when we did we REALLY appreciated them! Oh, and let me mention, those trips to the outhouse on a cold winter night are experiences I will NEVER forget! Wow, there I go again rambling off the track......
At any rate I did want to thank Betty's grandson, (my adopted grandson), Mike Snyder up in northern Pennsylvania for his and his wife's concern about Betty & my well being down here. They were ready to travel a couple of hundred miles and come down and help us if we needed them. Now that's what I call true friends!
Well, I do have piles of work to get done on my desks so I guess for me it IS back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Wednesday!

It's raining here, again, in Central Pennsylvania, as if we didn't have enough!
We finally got electrical power back yesterday! It was about time as it had been out since last Thursday.
Now that I'm ready to get back to work, (no such luck), as I must leave very early this morning for an appointment for a CAT scan. The fun just never stops! I just can't contain myself!
The appointment is VERY Early so I'm going to keep this short this morning. I may do another post this afternoon when I get back. If not I'll sure be back here tomorrow morning.
Things has been very busy and the mail doesn't stop even if the electric does... so as you can imagine I'm really behind on the office work... Got to get a few things done before we leave here to go to the laboratory. So for me I have to go and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

It's a cloudy morning here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania.......... In more ways than one. We still have NO electrical power! Which of course means we also have no water or refrigeration. However I do have a small 1,000 watt generator that I have been switching back and forth between the freezer and the refrigerator. Yesterday, Betty's one son brought down his small generator to help us out. Now I can keep the refrigerator and the freezer going both at one time. We did get the cable back yesterday and I can run one TV also while the generator is on and also Betty's fish tank filer and air stone. Those fish are just about her main concern.....  Once in a while I unplug the freezer for awhile and can then start up my one main computer that I run a wire to. However I can only have it on for about an hour and then must reconnect back to the freezer.
Now with two small generators it's two times the problems of keeping them both going. They each last about 3 hours, under load, until they run out of fuel. Then they must be refilled and started and the load added back to them at a reasonable rate. That's not too bad in the day time but I haven't had any decent sleep since last Wednesday evening!
Over night I don't even bother to go to bed as I must get up every 3 hours to fill the generators and restart them.
I just called our power company and their automated system says that they may have the power back on today or tomorrow. I'm hoping it's today as we're supposed to have a rain storm later on today and overnight. I can't run the generators in the rain.
As we live along the Susquehanna River, we don't have city water and we have our own pump. However without power we have no water so that means I must carry water from the river just to go to the bathroom.
As you can imagine work around this office is almost non-existent. I'm working right now on my battery operated laptop but without the network I have no printer connected to it even if I had power to the printer...
So that's where we stand right now. I'll be back tomorrow to keep you updated.... Those of you who are on the east coast I sure hope all has went well with you through this terrible hurricane. Later...................

T.G.I.F. Yep it's Friday already and we still have high winds here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania.
The hurricane is almost through our area most of the bad stuff happened overnight. We lost our Electrical power about 3 AM this morning. Right now I'm typing this on my notebook computer. That's not all. We lost our TV cable also which means I have no high speed hook up to the Internet. How am I doing this post you say? Well yesterday I download NETZERO. It's free for a certain amount of hours a month. We still have our phone line hookup so here I am. The connection is very slow as unless you are paying them they only connect you at 28.8 bps instead of 56K. It's free though and I can't kick as it's getting the job done..  Things are going well here other than the hurricane. I went out in the yard and limbs have blown down all over the place. The river looks almost like the ocean with the white caps caused by the wind. It is a beautiful site in a way. I'm not looking forward to the next few days. It will take that long to see how the mighty Susquehanna river, that runs in our back yard, takes all of this water that Mother Nature has dumped on us!
I still have plenty of work to get done here in the office from yesterday. I'm trying to get my printer working now. So I'm going to cut this pretty short today as I must get crackin to get anything done and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!!!

It's starting out cloudy but calm here in central Pennsylvania. That shouldn't last too long though as I guess it's now official .... and Hurricane Isabel is on her way right to us! The storm is supposed to arrive later on today and last through the beginning of tomorrow. We'll be taking some time today for last minute preparations. We have most of the outside furniture stowed but I still must take the flag down and make sure the boats are secure etc. I'll let you know how we fared out this time tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to getting a lot done today here in the office because besides the time for Isabel preparation I'll be spending most of the day right here in my office.
I'm getting caught up some...  Monday's mail is what really throws me behind as there is so much of it but that's all caught up. I do have some mail left over this morning from yesterday but it shouldn't take long to get that out of the way and I can concentrate on getting other work done, especially work on my mailing lists.
We have a baby ground hog, (woodchuck) at the end of our lane that seems to be out eating every time we go out the lane.  I've been trying to get a picture of him but he is very cautious and it seems as soon as he sees us he's runs back into the tall grass. If I get it I'll post it up here. I haven't seen many squirrels lately and that's unusual as this is the time of the year they start carrying things back to their nest to hoard up for the winter. I guess this goofy weather has their schedules all screwed up as well as ours. This is the first year since we've moved here, (19 years), next to the river that it hasn't receded down far enough that you could see the bed rocks in it. In one way that's a good thing as it was good for boating if you own a big boat.  As for our small boat I never got it in as the water was up and down too often. (Like every other day!).  Oh well, maybe next year..
Well, as I look around my desks I do have plenty of work to get done so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Thursday!!!

Wednesday, September 17, 2003

It's a beautiful day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. It may be our last nice day for awhile as tomorrow they are calling for "Isabel" the hurricane to pay us a visit. I hope it turns and heads back out to sea but it doesn't look that way. You sure wouldn't know now, to look outside, that we have a storm on it's way. I guess tomorrow we'll start preparing by putting all of the outside furniture away for safety and maybe by bringing all of Betty's plants in from the back deck. This has been one nasty year for bad weather...
Got my the report from my doctor for the tests I took last week, yesterday. Seems I'm not in too bad of shape for the shape I'm in. He said my gall bladder doesn't look that good but that's one of my lesser problems so he's not going to do anything about that at this time. Apparently I don't have an ulcer, "yet"... so that sounds pretty good. With the upper GI test did not give him a clear enough picture of my liver and some other goodies so now I have an appointment next Tuesday for a CAT scan. Then 3 days after the CAT Scan I have an appointment at my regular doctor's for more blood tests. They also took blood tests yesterday. The doc keeps saying I'm losing blood..... hmmmm you'd think that he might realize that every time I visit HIM I lose blood!!!
I had another terrific mail day yesterday and of course that means that most of it is still on my desk waiting to be sorted and opened, etc. Better that though than to have nothing to do, right? That will take the rest of this morning and partial afternoon so work for today is cut out for me.
I haven't seen the big black snake in the back yard since I first ran into him last week. I hope he still lives there just NOT where I walk down and pick tomatoes all the time. I'm counting on him to eat a few moles...  Heck he can have 'em all!
The pile of mail on my desk keeps catching my eye so I guess for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Wednesday!!!

It's a gorgeous day here in Central Pennsylvania. The sun's out and not a sign of a cloud. GREAT!
Well, for me it's another trip to the doctor's today for a follow up on the tests I had last week. Seems like I'm headed to some medical facility just about every other day here, lately..  It shouldn't amount to much time, (if I get in without a long wait), as as far as I know it's just a talk session. Hopefully I'll be back here in my office in no time as I have a pile of mail from yesterday to finish. Monday is always a BIG mail day for me. I did get it sorted but that's about all. So I'll have most of that waiting when I get back plus today's mail. The applications keep coming in for the 2 - $2 downline builders. For those of you who are in one or both programs, I'll post here tomorrow just how many we have in each program so far.. It's quite a few and I'm very excited.
I'll have to pick more tomatoes today as Betty had been cooking them up and making home made spaghetti sauce.  Ummmm, Ummmm, GOOD! I know they won't be coming in much longer as cold weather is just around the corner but right now "I'm in heaven!" I could eat tomatoes until they hang out my ears.... (Especially good home grown ones!)
There are a few things I must get done to go in the mail on the way to the appointment and with that in mind.... for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Tuesday!!!

Monday, the start of a brand new week here, at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania..  and a cloudy start at that....
Boy, what a great weekend I had. We didn't go anywhere, not even out to eat on Saturday, but I did get a heck of a lot done. I even got the grass mowed in between rain drops.
I am officially caught up with all the entries for the 2 Bucks for SUCCESS and the Coin Savers Club! Hot Dog!
I'm a little worried about the hurricane, Isabel, as the predicted tracking for the storm is right through the center of Pennsylvania. That's supposed to hit on Friday morning. We had rain the whole weekend and we're supposed to get more today. If we get more rain from the hurricane of Friday and Saturday I'm afraid we may have problems with the mighty Susquehenna that runs at the edge of our back yard.  The soil is already soaked to the limit and the river never did go down as far as it usually goes in August and September..  I've got my fingers crossed as we do not need a flood here! But the way it looks it would not take that much more rain to cause one! It's good we just water proofed the deck. If the river takes it at least the wood is well protected! (Ha)
Looks like I have to make at least 3 phone calls this morning so for me I'd better get back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Monday!!!

T.G.I.F. It's another beautiful day here in Central Pennsylvania. I hope you're ready for the weekend as it will be here in a few hours...
Over the last several months it seems I'm never ready for the weekend as we been so darn busy here. I sit here on Friday wondering what the heck happened to the week that just flew by. At any rate, ready or not, the weekend is here!
Yesterday afternoon the weather man started calling for rain by tonight so I made the decision to just drop everything and waterproof our deck out back. With Betty's help I finished it right before sundown. As the deck measures the entire length of the house it was a pretty big job and by the time we were done both of us had just about enough. I was aching everywhere that was possible... I'm just not used to working that hard physically anymore and I can sure tell it. At any rate we should be in pretty good shape for another 2 years. It did turn out pretty darn good if I must say so myself. I'll give it today yet and then put all the "stuff" and plants back on it that we keep there.
My tomatoes are really coming in now. Every other day a get a great big bowl full off of the 12 plants. Something is starting to eat on them and it's always a race to see if I get the tomato or whatever it eating it does. Betty is going to cook some up for Spaghetti sauce. I LOVE my Spaghetti!
Needless to say I didn't get through yesterday's mail yet and just started on it this morning. It is quite a pile too.... so with that in mind it's back to work for me and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Weekend!!!

Thursday, September 11, 2003

Starting out a little foggy here in central Pennsylvania but supposed to be a clear, beautiful day and to to 80 degrees! That's okay with me. It's been about a day and a half since we've had rain. A while longer and I'll finally be able to finish water proofing the deck. It's a little nippy here this morning with temperatures down to 54 degrees..  That should slow up my tomatoes from ripening. Oh well they just started coming in good but I did get them in very late.
I had my tests at the medical laboratory yesterday. It took a lot longer than I thought it would. I had a sonar test of my abdomen and all the goodies in there like the liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas and other things I can't remember. Then I went for an upper G/I. Yeah, I didn't know what it was either. They have you continually drink liquids while they take x-rays. Then in between the x-rays you just sit and wait for the while liquid to go through your system. It's not that bad but it is time consuming. Of course I'll not know how anything turned out until my own doctor gets the results....  The lady doing the sonogram did say that my Gall Bladder "looked sick" whatever that means. Well, that's over.... at least for awhile...
Today it's back to work for me, although I did get pretty much done yesterday afternoon and evening, I still must finish the mail from yesterday.
The Coin Savers Club will be mailing out promotional packs and checks over the next week. We've had a few come in since last month. That may show up as increases in checks for some of us. The 2 Bucks for SUCCESS downline building program Phase II will end at the end of this month and next month I'll be mailing joining packets.. That's when we'll really see and increase in membership! I sure hope those of you who are in the 2 Bucks for SUCCESS downline building program have been promoting it as you will reap the benefits from those efforts next month!
That's the latest from my office and cottage, here in Central Pennsylvania... See ya back here tomorrow.... In the meantime it's back to work for me and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Thursday!!!

A beautiful day here in Central Pennsylvania... (what I can see of it as it's so early.)
I have two appointments at a medical lab this morning for two different tests... I'm really not looking forward to them.... that's for sure.... We'll have to leave here very soon as the first one is for 7:45 AM. Boy, they sure like to get started early. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink after midnight last night. That's no so bad, the eating part, but to go without drinking... that's a chore for me... I do like my liquids...
I had another good mail day yesterday .... I think it's actually picking up.....  I received a call from Jeff last evening...  He's the owner of the Coin Savers Club. He told me he has developed a new promotional post card for the $2 downline builder but he wants to do a mailing and test it before he offers it....  Sounds good as some folks like to promote with post cards... Personally I like the flyers as I know they pull!
Well, it's almost time to get the heck going, so for me, I'm out of here, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!!!!

Starting out cloudy today and it rained overnight! Darn it...  They said we were in for 6 days without rain. That's why I stripped down the deck to waterproof it. I need, according to instructions, about 4 or 5 dry days before putting on the water proofing. I was all excited when they said that we would be going all this week without wet weather. Now, only Monday night and rain already. Meteorologist my foot! When I was a kid they did better weather predicting. When they said it was going to be clear, it was clear. When they said we were going to get snow, we got snow. They didn't have any fancy satellites or Doppler radar systems or anything like that either. These guys now a days are nothing more than a joke. They can't tell what the weather is going to be 8 hours from now! Can you tell I'm bitter?  I swear if I can get another 48 hours without rain, I'd better give it a try and get the water proofing on the darn deck.
As yesterday was Monday I received a ton of mail most of which is still piled on my desk. Plenty to get done this morning... I must try to get caught up this morning and today as tomorrow I must go for some medical tests and the morning and part of the afternoon will probably be used up.
I kind of thought that by now the 2 Bucks for SUCCESS downline building program would be slowing up some as it ends at the end of this month. Heck, if anything, it's picked up!  The applications are coming in by the dozens... Hot dog, were going to have a great downline building phase this time!
Well, looking around my desk I guess for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Tuesday!!!

We're starting off the brand new week here in Central Pennsylvania at the Blue Bird Cottage with an absolutely beautiful day.
I had a very productive weekend here in the office and we also got our deck out back stripped down and cleaned. Now all we need is a few days of dry weather. Then we'll be able to water proof it. That should last another 2 years. We couldn't do it all this summer as we had too much wet weather.
I walked down the steps toward the river on Saturday evening to pick some tomatoes. As I went down over the steps I saw just a little movement in the grass. At first I thought it is was a toad. But after studying it for a minute or two I realized it was a snake. All I could see if of it was maybe an inch long. I just mowed the grass down there a few days ago and the grass wasn't that high. I yelled for Betty to bring me a rake as I thought if I took my eyes off of it I wouldn't be able to find it again. I got the rake and hooked it and started to pick it up. It then came loose and wiggled off the rake and headed for some heavy under growth. Geeze...... it tuned about to be over 4 feet long!!!  It's diameter at the thickest part was about an 1" and a half! Quite a large snake for not being able to barely see it! It looked like a black snake but I didn't get a good look at it as I didn't want to chomp down on it with the rake as I didn't want to hurt it..  I have plenty of moles, (I hate 'em) in our yard and as far as I'm concerned the snakes can have them all for dinner...  I did tell Betty that now when I go to the river or tomato patch I'm going to be looking harder for snakes.... Of course she said she wasn't going down there at all!  We'll see about that.....
I did get a lot caught up here in the office over the weekend but not everything.. I didn't realize I was so far behind last week... A couple of real long days should cure that problem... Well, with all of this in mind.... it's back to work for me.... and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!

T.G.I.F. Friday already! It was a very short week and slid right by. Well, it is a very beautiful day here in Pennsylvania. The sun is shinning the humidity is low and it's supposed to stay like that a few days. I think it's an ideal time to clean the deck and water proof it. Now, all I have to do is work it into my work schedule.
My Serial to USB adapter just arrived by UPS. I'll connect that to my new note book computer later on today. Then I'll be able to download the pictures out of my camera and be able to hook up my PDA to the notebook. I ran all over the place on Tuesday hunting one. The only one I could find was at Radio Shack and they wanted $40 plus tax. I ordered this one from the Internet the next day, Wednesday, and here it is Friday morning and I receive it delivered right to my door! Besides that, I only paid $17.95 + $6.50 shipping & handling for a total of only $24.45.  If I would have bought the one at Radio Shack, (the only one I could find in the area, it would have cost me $39.95 + $2.40 sales tax for a total of $42.35. That's a savings of $17.90!!!  I could have almost bought 2 for the price of one. Also, if I wouldn't have run around hunting one I could have saved several dollars on gasoline etc. Yep, I'm starting to think the WEB is the place to buy things if you don't need them immediately. I still like walking around the shops looking at the merchandise though.... I don't think the WEB will ever replace that feeling.
Things are still busy as the devil around this small office. Makes me wish that the office was twice as large. I don't want to rent an outside office though as I still want to have my business in my home. I do too much work in my pajamas. I'd actually have to get dressed to go to an outside office and that would give me less time...  I'd be living at the office and that's what I want to stay away from....  The answer.... I don't know...  I'm trying to see if I can buy more technology to do some of the stuff I do faster and more efficiently. I'm not sure if that's even possible but I'm checking it out.
Looks like I'm going to be working most of my weekend playing "catch-up" again. This won't be forever as I am giving up some of my projects like my magazine and my print & mail service to gain more time.  So hopefully within another month I'll be able to have a few weekends of my own...  Wow, that will be like a vacation. This year even though we live right along the mighty Susquehenna River, we didn't even get time to get out boat in and have some fun on the river....  Oh well, maybe next Summer....
At any rate, right now for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!

It's another rainy day here in Central Pennsylvania... I'm not sure but I think Pennsylvania is turning into a swamp. At this rate we'll  never get the deck cleaned and waterproofed this year! We can clean it anytime but to put the waterproofing on you are supposed to wait 5 days to make sure it's good and dry. Only problem is we have had 5 days in a row without some kind of precipitation since last year!
I haven't seen a rabbit or a squirrel for over a week. Maybe they're all holed up somewhere waiting for it to stop raining. Heck at this rate, they may die of old age waiting for that to happen!
I don't know what it is but where we live for no reason at all, no wind, no storm, heck the sun can even be shining and the lights will flash off and then back on almost immediately. Not a big deal unless you have a couple or 3 computers running. I had bought a battery back up for my main computer about 2 months ago and have been procrastinating hooking it up. Well, yesterday after the lights went off and back on 3 times within a 30 minute period I stopped doing everything until I installed the battery backup and software to my main computer.. Hopefully I'm now covered for the next "lights out" episode.
A fellow in Florida has bounced a $2 check on me for insufficient funds. Do you believe that, insufficient funds for 2 bucks! Well now, with the bank charge, the check has turned into an $8 expense. Can't believe it...  I've been trying for 5 days now to reach this dude and let him in on the situation.  I try throughout the day and the phone continues to ring, (no answer machine apparently). I try at night and the phone is constantly busy. (I suspect he's on the WEB). I'm trying to hit the time when he gets home, BEFORE he jumps on the Internet. All this for an original two lousy bucks.......  I guess it comes with the territory of being in business for yourself.... Home business or otherwise....
Things are still "popping" around here and now it seems there is almost always a stack of mail that I'm working on piled on my desk. At any rate for me it's time to get back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

It's a rainy day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. This year we've received more rain than any year that I can remember!
It's hard to believe that it's already Wednesday. I do love these short work weeks but it does give us little time to get things done. Wow, the mail yesterday was humongous! I have only put a dent in it so far and it will soon be time to go pick up today's mail. It's a sure sign that we're busy though, and that's a lot better than sitting around here twiddling our thumbs!
I did get a brief glimpse of our local beaver yesterday down at the river in our back yard. I mowed the grass down there on Monday evening and found several sticks that he had chewed the bark off. There's a few pictures of him in Chuck's Daily Photo Gallery 8.
This weather must be taking it's toll on the birds. It's really unusual to go out in the deck and not hear them singing. It's almost silence lately with all of the rain.
My tomatoes are now coming in a a pretty good rate and we can't eat 'em fast enough. Time to start giving some away. Betty may make some home made spaghetti sauce with some of them but still she won't be able to use them all up. I guess I plant too many of them.
I tried to pick up the "Serial to USB Converter" yesterday when we were out but none of the office supply stores had any. The only place I could find one was at "Radio Shack". The only problem is they wanted $40 bucks for one and the place on the WEB that I found them wanted $20. I don't mind paying a few bucks more to get one right away but not double so today I'll be ordering one from the WEB.
I spoke with Jeff Charlton, owner of the Coin Savers Club, and we now have a post card to promote our 2 Bucks for SUCCESS downline building program. Seems like a lot of our members wanted a postcard to promote so now we'll have that....  At least within a week.
Well, as I mentioned, lots of work to get done here, today, so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Wednesday!!!

It' a great but a cloudy start to our new work week here in Central Pennsylvania. It's going to be a short week. (Hot Dog!)
I hope you had a good holiday. It was cloudy here most of the day but I did grill out on the deck on Sunday. I worked most of yesterday. I guess that's why they call it "Labor Day." I had to get the monthly work done for the Once A Month Association. I've got everything finished except to run the statements, write the checks, and put it all into envelopes. We can finish all that this morning and it will be in the mail before lunch time. Thank goodness!
I think I may take Betty out to lunch today as she has worked a lot this weekend also... It will give her a short break and get her out for a little while.
I took some pictures on Saturday evening and when I went to download them when I realized that I couldn't anymore. I used to download them into my old laptop but my new one does not have a serial port on it that is required to connect to the camera! They do make a "Serial to USB Converter" so when we go out today I'm going to see if I can locate and buy one. Come to think about it my new laptop does not have a floppy drive either. I think all to the computer companies are getting away from the floppies. I think that Apple Computer was the first when they manufactured their "I Mac" and did not put in a floppy. My new laptop will burn CD's so I guess if I want to move information and don't want to do it through my network or over the WEB I'll just have to burn it on a CD ROM.
I did get my mail caught up. All sorted and all of the applications ready to be mailed. Only because we had no mail on Sunday or yesterday. I'll bet I'll need a flour sack to pick up today's mail though. Thinking about that and the other "stuff" that needs to be done before we go, It's back to work for me and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!
