It's a nice sunny morning
here in Central Pennsylvania and very cold again.... Yesterday was nice
and warm all day but it rained and sometimes poured throughout the entire day.
When I went to the post office yesterday I really wanted to stop in Dauphin
and get a picture of the town tree on main street.... however, it was so darn
windy and dark that it was impossible.... I'm just hoping that everything is
still there today to get a picture! With that wind, I won't know until I get
down there.
Lot's of limbs were blown down yesterday and our yard does look like a
hurricane hit it and believe me at times, I thought we were in the middle of a
hurricane.... It's rare to see sustained high winds like that around here for
that long... I'll be honest, I'm kind of glad it's all over...
***********************************
I worked steady and long all day yesterday and still failed to get completely
caught up... Today I must let everything else go to work on the
Once A Month Association
stuff, the Newsletter and
the Monthly Member Benefit
Directory. I will also run the statements and write the checks etc...
That's all a job in itself and will take most of if not all the rest of
today... Yes, I'm
afraid I'll be working on that stuff all day today as it must go out by the
first of the month...
So as soon as I upload this post that's what I'll be working on... I hope you
don't have such a busy day today.. I like being busy but not this busy...
I do like working on the OAMA
stuff though.... That's good because it looks like I'm in for a lot of it...
************************************
Why is it that when you need a coupon to buy something, none are in the mail
or none are around that are still good? It seems like every other day I
receive coupons from Office Max, Staples, or Office Depot with $30 off of a
$100 dollar or $150 dollar purchase or a certain percentage off etc..
My small, personal copier just ran out of toner and a toner cartridge goes for
$98 to $129 dollars.... I think the $129 one is supposed to put out more
copies but I'm not sure.... It's a Cannon PC400. Now that I can use one of
those darn coupons that I seem to toss every other day because they run out
before I need anything decently big I can't find one anywhere... I may
be able to hold up a day or so but by golly I use the darn thing all the
time...
I have a much larger copier but I've sort of retired it and am going to sell
it. If I need a copy or two I use the small one... If I need say 25 copies or
more, I use my printing machine.... Not my laser or ink jet but a
regular ink printing machine.... A template must be made to make copies
on it so it doesn't really pay to make copies with it unless I need at least
25.. I usually use it to make from a 100 to 5,000 copies at a time...
I must put my other larger copy machine up for sale... I know I could sell it
on line very easy but the darn thing weighs a ton and would cost an "arm and a
leg" to ship it anywhere..... It would have to be shipped by truck freight as
it's way too heavy for UPS delivery. I used it for a couple of years and
just about got my money's worth out of it so I really don't have to charge too
much for it.... But I do have some extras that I will put with it like a
red ink set up and an extra brand new bottle of toner etc....
So if you live within driving distance of me and need a good copy machine,
give me a call or email me.... I'm sure we can strike a deal and you will be
surprised just how cheap I'll sell it to you... Betty wants to get back the
room that it's taking up....
I guess I can't blame her as I keep "over-flowing" out of my small office into
her dining room at times......
This is the first that I've mentioned it.. If I don't get a "bite" I'll have
to advertise it in a local newspaper or an on-line, local, classified site...
Of course I still need toner for the small personal copier though.. If you see
any online coupons, let me know.....
************************************
Lot's to get done today with the
Once A Month Association
stuff, etc., so for me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a
GREAT Wednesday!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today...
In order to populate the frontier, the United Sates Congress in 1862 passed
the Homestead Act. It offered free 160-acre farms to all homesteaders who
would live on them and farm the wilderness. What is little known is that only
the poorest-quality land was given away free. Good farms that size cost about
$1,000 at that time!

It's a another cloudy
morning with the promise of rain off and on all day today. However, we also
have the promise of temps up into the mid 60s today! Wow, from one extreme to
the other!
I'm not complaining, that's for sure.. I like it better than the
freezing cold, finger numbing, weather we had just a few days ago on
Thanksgiving Day.
************************************
What a great day yesterday! I received so much mail that I'm still going
through it... I have piles of it all over my desks... Lots of inquires and
yes, lots of orders as well... Actually I can hardly wait to get back to
it.... I just LOVE opening mail... you never know what you're going to get...
I also love surprises and opening mail goes hand in hand with that love...
Yep, yesterday was a GREAT mail day!
I even picked up a new member yesterday for the
ONCE A MONTH ASSOCIATION.
Actually I personally didn't pick one up but member #1659 Melvin Merritt did.
Congratulations Melvin... Way to go! You will now earn a $10
commission each and every month on your new members' $15 dues as long as they
stay active in the Association!
As they also ordered custom kit as well, I should have that out before today
is gone.
Those of you who are interested in developing and extra monthly income and
receiving tons of FREE advertising and discount advertising among typesetting
discounts, printing, etc., just go here for the
Application for OAMA, print it out, fill it in, and send with proper
postage to me..... My address is on the application. I'll pay for your
custom promotional kit, (Value $5.00), and I'll also pay for your second
month's dues! (Value $15.00!)
Believe me, you'll not be sorry you did!!!!
***********************************
Our little Dinky town of Dauphin has up it's Christmas Decorations already and
they are absolutely beautiful.... Betty and I came home that way last night
just to see 'em and it was worth the short bypass.... I'll try to get a
picture of the town tree today when I head for the post office and put it up
here tomorrow.... It's a beauty.... someone did a fine job... I'll have
to see if I can find out who was in charge of decorating the tree so I can
give them some credit.....
***********************************
Well, with the piles of work on my desks staring at me, I guess I'd best get
back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Tuesday.....

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today...
The commonly held notion of colonial American family life -- that many
generations lived together and shared farm and household chores ---is far from
the truth. Few people lived long enough to see their children grown, let alone
their grandchildren. Data compiled in 1790 by Dr. Benjamin Rush, the prominent
physician, indicate that of a hundred people born in a given year in
Philadelphia more than one-third died before the age of six and only
one-quarter lived beyond the age of twenty-six!

THE BEGINNING OF A
BRAND NEW WEEK!
It's a cloudy day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania but
it's supposed to be pretty warm today with temps getting all the way up to 58
degrees!... I know, that's not going to set any records but there are some
parts in the good ole' USA where they having snow and ice storms....
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... we don't need them around here yet...
***********************************
We had a GREAT holiday here at our place over the
Thanksgiving weekend holiday and I hope you did as well, and if you had to
do some traveling, you got back home with no mishaps and in ONE piece!
Now that
Thanksgiving is over we can all start getting ready for
Christmas... Doesn't that sound
GREAT? Yeah, I know it jumps from one holiday to another this time of
the year.... I've got to get myself back into the
Christmas, Jolly, mode again....
Everyone keeps saying that Christmas
is for the kids but as much as I enjoy it I'm afraid I'll have to disagree....
Santa Claus might be for the kids but
Christmas is for all of us.... I know it's one of my favorite
holidays. It's not as GREAT as Halloween, but it's pretty darn close..
We've got most of our shopping done and we already have the tree up... I'm
going to try to get up into the attic today to get the rest of the decorations
down and get the "big" tree down so we can give it to Betty's granddaughter,
Jackie... I know her kids, if not already, will be after her to get up the
tree pretty soon... Betty and I will get a chance to see our old tree
when we go down to her place on Christmas to pass out gifts and to see
everyone.... I'm really looking forward to that... I love going around
to everyone's house and seeing the decorations, trees, and of course to pass
out gifts to everyone!!!!
We were at Betty's son John & wife Deb's for Thanksgiving and I thought I'd
toss up a picture here to show you Mr. Tom Turkey right before we dove into
him...
When we were finished, I'm afraid there wasn't much left to him...
Everything at the dinner was excellent as usual and a big THANK YOU to John's
wife Debbie, (Little Martha Stewart), for a GREAT job preparing everything....
All was appreciated and Betty and I even got a "doggie bag" for the trip
home...
I'm pretty sure as of now, that's all gone as well!!! Good "stuff"
doesn't take long to get rid of around this house.... That's a Big "fer sure!"
******************************************
I did take the time over the weekend to finish updating all the material for
our BIG Phase X
downline builder for the Tape Of The Month
company.
So if you've been waiting to join the new downline builder for the new
circular, STOP! Click here Phase
X right now to sign up.... Just print out the circular and fill it out
and send to me with the $3 for your new customized sign-up kit... I look

Well, with the beginning of the week here, there is plenty to get done
around this office so for me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a
GREAT day!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today...
As a young man, Albert Payson Terhune, a parson's son, so much wanted to be a
writer that in the pursuit of material he purported to be a leper and entered
a Near Eastern leper house. Later, he fought six leading heavyweight boxers.
Neither his experience as a leper nor his brief career as a prizefighter
brought him into the publishing limelight. Fame and fortune came to him only
when he wrote about a subject close a hand, his collie. Lad, a Dog,
first published in 1919, is still in print!

BLACK FRIDAY!!!
We'll I wasn't going to post anything here today but I have a few minutes and
thought I'd put up a few words.
Well, it's sunny here in Central Pennsylvania alright but it's cold as a "Dead
Witches' '***'" Oh, well, you get the idea...
Betty and I had a GREAT time at John and Deb's yesterday, (Betty's son and
daughter-in-law) but when we got home last evening, after dark, it turned out
to be a catastrophe! The lock on the door must have had a little moisture in
it as it was frozen and would not open with a key....
Well, I figured, no problem, I'll get the flashlight out of the car and make
my way to the back door and come into the house that way.... The
flashlight had dead batteries in it!
Boy was it EVER dark! There was no moon or any kind of light what-so-ever...
Soooooo... I groped my way around the house to the back door, got the key and
then realized that I couldn't even see the lock to put the key in... I
tried to feel for it but my hands were so darn cold that I just couldn't feel
anything! I had to put my hand in my pocket, and jump up and down to create some
heat and kept trying to feel for the lock.... This went on several times until
I was just about ready to give up and the key slid into the lock...
Wow, I was about froze with the cold wind coming across the river out back...
I finally got into the house and out through the front and got Betty... At
least she was sitting in the warm car....
What an experience! A little bit of that crap goes a long way...
Then I had to get the hair dryer back outside to thaw out the lock and get
that open... Oh well....... another adventure in the life of
Chuck...... AKA "Mr. Lucky!"
Have a GREAT weekend and I'll catch you, right back here..... on Monday
morning!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!
Wednesday, November 23, 2005
Finally a sunny morning
here in Central Pennsylvania but a darn cold one! It started out this morning
with a beginning temperature of 24 degrees..... Yes,..... it IS cold!
***********************************
T.G.I.F.
Friday? No it's not Friday, but the computer and I may make a long weekend out
of Thanksgiving Day
tomorrow... Normally I don't but I do have a ton of stuff to do and will not
be working at all tomorrow as many of us won't... The only thing I want to
work on tomorrow is eating my turkey dinner! (Check back here Friday, just in
case.)
There's going to be a lot going on as well as football and then of course day
after tomorrow, Friday, will be
Black Friday!
Yep, the largest retail shopping day of the year and it's when lot's of stores
will be opening at 5 AM in the morning.... Now, me personally, they'd have to
be giving stuff away to get me up at that time, in this cold weather, to wait
in line for a store to open... Yep, you can pretty much bet that it will
never happen for me!
If you remember last week on Tuesday I mentioned about a 18 year old guy who
murdered his 14 year old "girlfriend's" parents, (mom and dad), and the guy
loaded up the girl and took off. This occurred down in Lititz Pennsylvania
near Lancaster. Actually not far from here where I live. They were then
captured clear out in Indiana.
It seems this guy had an argument with the girls dad and while the dad was
escorting him from his house the fellow, David Ludwig shot and killed
the girl's father, Michael Borden and his wife Cathryn both 50. They were found
shot to death shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, after the couples 9-year old son
ran to the home of neighbors for help. An older daughter also escaped. Each of
the parents died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Well, they dropped the kidnapping charge from the list of things they charged
Ludwig with as they have now found out that the girl, Kara Borden, went with
him willfully and willingly. Yep, said she was going with him far away so they
could get married and start a new life...
Dad and Mom lay at home, butchered by her "planned soon to be husband" and
they were off to start a new "life!"
Too damned bad that they couldn't have left mom and dad with a "life" as
well... What kind of Daughter does it take to just see her mom and dad "shot
to death" and then jump in the car to take off to start a new life? A real
nice one, huh?
Apparently co-workers said David used to bring his bible to work with him to
read. Both he and Kara were apparently VERY religious.. David was always
talking about how he should be praying more..... hmmmmmmm.........
Just makes me wonder what her sister and brother think of the situation...
I have said from the beginning that Kara is as guilty as David is because she
knew her dad and mom did not want her seeing this guy and she stays out all
night at his house anyway...
If she would have listened to her parents from the beginning none of this
would have ever happened.
Now, we'll see what the lawmakers and enforcers come up with.....
**********************************
I am really looking forward to tomorrow as every year we always go down to
Betty's son John's house to eat... John just started back work on Monday after
he received a new Liver back in May of this year and I'm anxious to see how
he's doing at work.
His wife Deb always makes a fantastic
Thanksgiving dinner. Yep,
she's the one that a Martha Stewart fan..... and she is a GREAT cook... Ummmmm
I can taste that turkey already....
Looks like Betty and I are in for a great weekend and I wish you the best too!
**********************************
Even though gasoline has went down a good bit over the last month rest assured
that it still must drop down a good bit to get back were it belongs before
this entire mess began.
Lot's of folks will be traveling by car over this
Thanksgiving holiday and
the gasoline right at this moment is still 30 some cents higher a gallon than
it was this time last year!
************************************
As I already mentioned..... I just can't wait for the holiday to begin, so for
me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
Thanksgiving
Holiday!!!!!!!!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today...
When the "mad monk" Rasputin was assassinated in Petrograd (Leningrad), in
1916, his assassins first fed him cakes and wine laced with enough cyanide to
kill several men. Rasputin ate and drank and showed no ill effects. Then
Prince Felix Yussupov shot him through the chest and clubbed him on the head
with a lead-filled walking stick, and the conspirators threw him into the Neva
River. When the body was recovered, the autopsy revealed that Rasputin had
drowned!

Look's like another cloudy
morning here in Central Pennsylvania. I hope it's nice where you are and
you're having a great day so far.....
Yesterday turned out to be a pretty good day and I managed to get a lot done
that's been piling up on my desks but I'm still running behind some because of
being sick for a few days. I'm sure you've been in that position before.. and
can relate.......
It looks like I've got all day today to get things done so I should be able to
put a dent in these piles, on my desks, starting at me....
***********************************
Now that it's getting dark early, shortly after 5 PM, it seems that no matter
where we go lately we don't get home until after dark.
As we still have 29 days before Winter Solstice, (the shortest day of the
year), the days will get shorter and shorter for almost a month before the
days will start to grow again.... I'm really not thrilled with this time of
the year as I just hate the short days.
However, coming home after dark lately we are beginning to see folks with
their outside Christmas house lights up already. What a beautiful site! I just
love to see all the colorful Christmas lights... Of, course after this
Thursday, Thanksgiving, many more people will start displaying their out door
lights... Then it will probably take us extra time to get home as I go pretty
slow taking in the scenery, when Christmas gets closer.
All the Christmas decorations, lights, trees are a lot bigger deal when you're
younger and I don't know about you but I always think back this time of the
year to days of childhood and how things were back then..
I remember MOM really loved to decorate for Christmas and always started about
a month before as it took her from that time until almost Christmas to get all
of her decorating done... Dad used to set up this big "platform" made out of
real thick plywood. It looked really big but now I'm sure it was probably only
a 4" X 8" piece of plywood. It just looked bigger as I was so small..
Mom would ALWAYS put up two trees on her platform, (real ones) in addition to
a huge "yard" that had a train encircling a community of "characters like
Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the 3 Pigs and various other ones "with" each having
their own home. Then of course there was her beautiful, lighted, church that
she had sent to someplace very far away for. Yes, that piece was her favorite!
She hung each and every bulb on the tree by herself and we were NOT allowed to
help. That was just too important of a job for folks my age to participate in.
(She was probably afraid that I would break them.) All except for the very
last one that she would hold up to the tree where she wanted it and would call
me over to put my hand on hers to place it on the tree.... That was my
only job of decorating but I'm sure, (or at the time), I thought
was VERY important!
She would then hang each icicle, one at a time, (and there were thousands of
them), on the tree. As should would take each one of them down at the end to
store them for next Christmas. Nothing was thrown away back then... not like
now days... Each of her tree balls came from a special place, this one
from her sister, and those 5 from her mother and others that were picked up
from here and there over the years.... each with their very own story....
Yep, I may have not been allowed to help here decorate, but it sure was fun
just to be in the same room with her and just sit and listen to the history of
practically each decoration that was hung or displayed in the Christmas
yard.... Ah yes...... those WERE the days....
Each year I miss Mom's decorating job and probably will 'til I stop decorating
myself.... But I know wherever Mom is at this time of the year, I'll bet
that she has the best looking decorations on display! Way to go Mom.....
You know, someone never dies as long as they live in our memories....
**********************************
Oops, sorry about that, got a little sentimental there didn't I? Not only did
I "run on" again but I about ate up my whole post with it.... At any rate I'd
better get back to work..... and YOU have a GREAT Tuesday!!!
**************************************
Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today...
Because the Japanese word for "four" sounds exactly like their word for
"death" and because the word for "nine" sounds like the word for "suffering,"
there are no rooms numbered 4 or 9 in many hospitals and hotels in Japan!

I'm REALLY sorry.......
to those of you who could not find this site all weekend. I didn't realize
that anything was wrong until last evening.... Then it was, of course,
to late for most of you. Last Friday I was really sick and feeling like the
dickens but I thought I'd put up a short post here to let you know that I
wasn't feeling well but would be back here today, Monday. However when I saved
the post file to my web site for some reason it didn't save properly..
(I probably saved it wrong as I was REALLY sick and feverish.)
At any rate, I quickly did whatever was necessary to get it up to the site and
running as I felt bad and wanted to get back to my recliner in the living
room.. However, I had changed the file name by one letter and I not only had
uploaded, technically the wrong file but I had wiped out the original file!
Boy, when I make a mistake, it's always a giant one!
Well, yesterday, toward evening, I felt a bit better and fired up the
computers to check my email etc... I went to check out my daily post and
low and behold it was no where to be found.. It only posted from my main
computer and NOT my other two.... It took me awhile to realize just what
the heck happened and correct it but I did and as you can see today, Monday,
we're back up and running here again... I'm really sorry for the
inconvenience... I'm starting to wonder that maybe when I get that sick
again, I'd just better stay away from ANYTHING that requires a little bit of
brain power....
That just goes to prove how far off your judgment can be when your sick..
Which should tell us to stay out from behind the wheel of a car when we're
that sick...
In the "golden oldie days" doctors knew that and came to your house to "see"
YOU and NOT the "other way around." Of course the doctors now
days would laugh at you if you ever suggested such a thing.
The good ole days weren't all that bad.... What gets me is a lot of the
younger generations will never know the difference... After all how would they
be able to judge the best treatment at their gas pumps let along their
doctor's office if they never had anything to compare it with...
To them when they read a book about the good old country doctor coming to
visit grandma Betty it's just a fairy tale to them....
Yes, I realize that EVERYTHING changes but not always for the better...
I do miss the times when everyone wasn't "flying" around like they're "nicked
in the head" with a telephone hanging on their ear!
The other day when Betty and I ate at the restaurant, there were two guys
seated near us that were eating lunch as well... They had an accent and
sounded like maybe they were from Africa or the South Seas...... At any rate
the entire time they ate, almost an hour, they both were on their cell phones
conversing with someone...
Boy they must REALLY be important that they can't even stop talking long
enough on the phone to eat! I don't think I EVER want to become THAT
important... Heck even the president of the United States takes time to eat!
Oh, he may always be available for a National Emergency but I wouldn't "hold
my breath" waiting for him to stop eating to "talk" to ANYONE! I just don't
think that's going to happen....
Oh! ... and one more thing.... If you ever see me walking around with a phone
sticking out of my ear, do me a favor, pull it off and stomp on it!!!!!
-------- Thanks in advance!

The beginning of a brand
new week!
It will be a short one as well with Thanksgiving arriving this Thursday.
That's good as we can all use a short week once in a while.
It's a bit on the cloudy side here in Central Pennsylvania this morning and
it's supposed to stay on the nippy side with temps falling back into the low
30s tonight...
The other day when I was really sick they were calling for the temps to drop
down into the 20's so Betty when down and cleaned out the tomato patch... Here
it is, over half way through November and we're still eating fresh
tomatoes!!!! This is the latest I think I've ever been able to pick
tomatoes..
I went down yesterday afternoon when I started to feel a bit better and the
plants are gone now for sure as the frost has really hit 'em... Oh well,
they did their job and did it well!!!
***********************************
I didn't even pick up mail for 3 days last week because of my problems and I'm
still sorting that batch... now here it is, Monday, and I'll have another
"pile" of it today....
I'm still going to take it easy a bit for today so for me to get ANYTHING
done, I'd better get to it while I still feel like it, and YOU, YOU
have a GREAT Monday!!!!
**************************************
Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today...
There are at least 2.4 million people in the U.S. names Smith, and over 1.8
million named Johnson, and over 1.6 million named Williams or Williamson, and
over 1.4 million named Brown, and over 1.3 million name Jones. Keeping up with
the Joneses would appear to be easier than keeping up with the Smiths!

T.G.I.F.
Colder weather is
definitely here in Central Pennsylvania and although we're supposed to have
mostly sunny conditions here, I'm afraid that it's only supped to go up to the
high 30s today.
Well, my health has deteriorated since yesterday morning and I spent most of
yesterday on my recliner chair with a heating pad. I feel just miserable....
I'm afraid that I won't be writing here long this morning as it's all I can do
to stop shaking long enough to type...
It really feels like the flu now and I'm still wandering if this miserable
condition is a result of taking the FLU shot last Saturday. Believe me if that's true
It's not worth getting vaccinated for the darn flu....
AS this post is going to be up, probably all weekend, unless I start feeling
better and add some stuff to it and you are new to this site... read
yesterday's post and this week...
I'm afraid there's not much new here this morning.
I DID get a "joke sheet done for today at the end of this post...
I hope you are having a great weekend and hopefully all this trouble I'm
having will be
by me by Monday... At least that's the plan...
Again, sorry for the short post....
See you right back here on Monday and maybe before...

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today...
In 1418, women's headgear was so tall that the doorways of the royal
castle of Vincennes, France, had to be raised, on the orders of the queen, to
allow the ladies of the court to pass thorough without ducking!

We're supposed to have
clearing weather here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania but
it's supposed to be chilly all day here. I guess we can't bitch too awful much
as we have had pretty good weather here for all of this week.
Yes, I'm going to enjoy the weather here today no matter what it is.
I'll be spending the day here in the office as I really feel like crap..
I have no idea what's wrong but I kind of feel lightheaded and just plain
ill..
Yesterday when we came out of the restaurant it was quite cold out doors and I
started to get the "chills" and darn it, I couldn't shake them..
Betty and I was going to do a bit of shopping but after that episode, we voted
against it and just came home.. I don't feel that much better at all this
morning.
I'm even thinking that maybe it's from the "flu shot" that I got last
Saturday.. I heard that it, the shot, can affect some folks like that..
I hope it's not much more than that as I usually feel bad enough already let
alone with extra "stuff" wrong with me...
I'll just have to "ride it out" and see what happens.. Betty feels fine
but she usually does..... I'm usually the one that gets sick in our family.
***********************************
Before I started to feel too lousy yesterday, we did finish the joining
packets for our
3 Bucks for Success, Phase IX
downline builder for the Tape Of The Month
company. So that's in the mail and out of mind at the moment..
If you have any questions when you receive your mailing, check our WEB page
at:
www.homebucks.com/answers.htm . If that page doesn't answer all of your
questions, then feel free to email me at
Chuck@homebucks.com .
I'll answer any inquiries you have, pronto...
************************************
I had plenty of "stuff" planed to get done today but unless I start feeling
better I'm afraid that I'm going to fall way side, short of my goals.
************************************
I think that brings you "up to date" some of where I am here at the home base
so for now, I'm going to finish a few things and try to get some rest this
afternoon....
************************************
Back to work for me and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
Thursday!!!!
Sorry for the "short" post but it can't be helped....

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today....
When the second atomic bomb was dropped on Japan, in 1945, the United States
had only one more atomic bomb in reserve. But the second attack convinced
Emperor Hirohito to surrender. He had concluded that the first bomb, on
Hiroshima, was not a fluke, and that the U.S. could produce more of the
terrible weapons!

We're supposed to have rain
off and on today here in Central Pennsylvania but it's also supposed to go up
into the upper 60s! Unbelievable temps for this time of the year around here!
That will be fine with me..... We do have a cold front moving in and it will
get cold by this afternoon. It's 69 degrees right now but as the cold front
moves in it will definitely get much colder.
Betty and I are going to meet her 2 sons, John and Diz, down at our favorite
Chinese Restaurant, the
PA Grand Buffet this afternoon for a late lunch together. Diz has
Wednesdays off, where he works, and this will probably be the last time we'll
be having lunch with John on a weekday as he is going back to work this coming
Monday.
Yep, John had come a long way since getting a liver transplant back at the end
of May and it's hard to believe but he's now ready to get back to work...
Needless to say although Betty and I will miss the lunches together with John,
we are so glad to see him back in a healthy state... Sure, he's still on many
rejection medicines and other drugs but most of them he'll be on for life...
John said he doesn't mind as at least he's alive!
I can see where he's coming from as before he had his operation he got so bad
that he slipped into a coma and we were all very worried as we knew without a
new liver he would stay in that coma until the end.... He was very
fortunate and did receive a new liver and believe me he knows he was fortunate
and really is appreciative!
I've never seen John so excited about getting to work in my life.. I
remember he was always happy to get time off but now it's different.. He's
actually looking forward to getting back to the grind.. He's been in to see
his co-workers several times since he's been allowed to drive his vehicle
again.
At any rate that's the "plan" for this afternoon..
********************************
Betty and I will have all the downline reports and joining packages, for
our
3 Bucks for Success, Phase IX
downline builder for the Tape Of The Month
company, done and in
the mail by noon today... I worked on them until late last night and this
morning finished the printing. Now we must finish assembling them and they'll
be done.. We'll be able to drop them off on the way down to Harrisburg today.
That's another chore done that's time consuming.
**********************************
Now I should have some time to get back to working on the site I'm building
for my friends and associates, Jean & Tommy Matyasovszky up in Bridgeport,
Connecticut.
I'm dragging that job out and I know they are anxious to get their site "up
and running."
I'm getting there.... Jean and Tom.....
***********************************
I know, I'm always the one bitching about the stores putting out Christmas
goods even before Thanksgiving is here.
I can remember when I was a child and we went to the Thanksgiving Day Parade
in Harrisburg, at the very end of the parade, there was Santa in all his glory
and if Mom went shopping after the parade Santa was from that day until
Christmas in all the department stores, or as we were told, his elves were
there as Santa was just too busy at the North Pole to be in the department
stores. He had to assign some of his elves for that job!
At any rate, we were getting some things ready for Betty's granddaughter to
pick up at the end of this week.... like the big kitchen table and chairs of
ours... We finally bought a much smaller table and chairs that fit our cottage
much better... Let's face it 99% of the time it's just Betty and I at the
table... why have a big one anymore with big chairs etc... So it's getting
passed down to someone who needs it and that is Jackie the granddaughter...
While she is here I'm also going to give her our big Christmas that I bought 2
years ago as I mentioned earlier this month Betty and I downsized that as
well.
So yesterday, we wanted to see what the new tree looks like, as a result up it
went up and it really looks GREAT!
Yes, I know it's only the middle of November.... I don't care, if you
remember, I'm always the one that hates to see the tree come down every
year... Well, now, this year, it's going to be up there a long time!
Anyway it looks great! I'll have to get a picture of it and put it up
here for you to see.
********************************
I also must take time this week to start a new issue of my
newsletter/magazine,
Chuck's Mail Order News &
Opportunities, small News Letter/Magazine, printed edition. I just
ran out of the last issue copies when we mailed the last bulk mail day before yesterday.
Before I can send another bulk mail I'll have to print a new magazine...
That's always fun to get that together and printed...
********************************
Looks like by the piles of work on my desks and other plans for today, I'd
better get my tail back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
Wednesday!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today....
It is now estimated that the Aztec civilization each year sacrificed to their
gods 1 percent of the population, or about a quarter of a million people. The
dead were eaten by the Aztec masses, whose diet was low in protein. The rich
were able to import game from afar, but crop failures regularly deprived the
poor of the maize and beans that, in combinations, might have supplied
adequate protein from vegetarian sources!
(Another religion that
sanctioned killing people! - Chuck)

Looks like we're in for
rain off and on all day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. That means I
should be getting a lot of work done here in my home office today. That's just
fine though as I have a ton of "stuff" to get done.. Some of yesterday's
mail still needs to be "gone" through and sorted etc.. Yesterday being Monday I
had quite a bundle of mail! Love those Monday's!
*********************************
I have a tough time grasping all the violence these days and I'm sure you
probably do as well. As you may have heard on the news Saturday morning an 18
year old guy murdered his 14 year old "girlfriend's" parents, (mom and dad),
and the guy loaded up the girl and took off. This occurred down in Lititz
Pennsylvania near Lancaster. Actually not far from here where I live. Finally
Monday morning, yesterday, they were captured clear out in Indiana.
It seems this guy had an argument with the girls dad and while the dad was
escorting him from his house the fellow, David Ludwig started shooting killing
the girl's father, Michael Borden and his wife Cathryn both 50. They were found
shot to death shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, after the couples 9-year old son
ran to the home of neighbors for help. An older daughter also escaped. Each of
the parents died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
You can read most of the story here:
Missing Teens Found, In
Custody
Boy, I can't believe a lot of things about this story.... What the
heck is an 18 year old guy doing with a 14 year old "girlfriend" to start
with? Why did her dad even try to talk to him? Why didn't dad just have the
idiot arrested?
You can bet your goodies if he was taking out my 14 year old daughter I'd get
him off the streets...
I sure hope that he DID kidnap the daughter, Kara Borden, and she did not go
along with him voluntarily... but either way, in this day and age it wouldn't
surprise me. Not at all!
They both had web sites and as of yesterday at noon you could see them both..
Hers has since been taken down and his just shows his profile more or less..
All of the posts over the weekend were up there yesterday and all of his
"friends" were sending him scathing posts!
Well deserved I might add but they could have toned down the language just a
bit...
I think they should just put him, David Ludwig, out of his misery but now days who the heck
knows...
The poor folks that he murdered are gone but some day this dude may be walking
the streets again.
I must bring this up again, I know that I've mentioned this before but it just
amazes me. You think about it and you'll agree it's a poser alright...
What I'm talking about is that when someone that's 18 years old and does
something really good, like performs a piano recital before the Philadelphia
Philharmonic Orchestra, the press will say, "Boy is this "kid" a prodigy or
what?", or something close to that. But if a someone is 18 years old and
they do something really bad like murder someone or rob some bank or something
really bad the press will say something like, "The person who did this is an
18 year old man and was last seen, etc., etc., etc........"
Something bad and he's a man, something good and he's a boy... Go
figure.... (Of course same thing with a female, good - girl, bad - woman.)
No, I'm sure not sticking up for this ass... Personally I think he's a rotten
so and so for taking two peoples lives for such a stupid reason.... (or any
reason at all as far as that goes). Is he going to end up with his 14 year old
sweetie.... Heck no, of course not... What a waste for everyone involved as
the girl, Kara has a younger brother and sister that must go the rest of their
lives without their parents...
I sure don't know the whole story here of course, but I think some of the
blame must be laid on the girl's doorstep. She HAD to know that her parents
were against this relationship and yet she still went out with this guy...
I'll say, she needs to accept a ton of the responsibility....
This is an odd thing to note but on their web sites, in their profiles, both
professed to be religious and the last post to someone he said something like
god bless you...
What does religion mean to kids today?
Like I keep saying, "There are a lot of weirdoes out there running around!"
**************************************
Sorry I spent most of today's post on this topic but it just really irks me
and I DO feel better now that I've "yakked" about it.. Thanks for the
ear....
**************************************
I'm looking for another good mail day today and as I mentioned above I still
have mail from yesterday to go through and sort so for me, it's back to work,
and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day today!!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today....
During World War II, German chemists developed a successful process for making
gasoline out of coal. Also, toward and after the end of the war, many truck
engines were converted to run on the fumes from plain firewood. (When you ran
out of "gas," you collected some wood along the road, chopped it up, and
resumed the trip!)

Hot dog! The beginning for
a brand new week!
Looks like we're in for some sunlight and not a bad day here in Central
Pennsylvania as temperatures reach almost 60 degrees.... Yep, we're in for a
great day here at the Blue Bird Cottage....
*********************************
I
took notice of the mountains around us here, along the mighty Susquehanna
River, and it looks like we're losing the foliage very quickly... I
stopped here and there and took a couple of pictures to put up here to show
you.... Yep, I'd say that Fall has definitely arrived here in the Susquehanna
Valley....
Actually the second picture, the one on the bottom, was taken only about 700
feet down the lane from our Cottage.... It was late in the afternoon on
Saturday and really was a great shot with the sun setting in the west and
lighting up the trees... Only nature can make a picture like
that
I'm sure.....
If you look real hard at the bottom photo you can see the river.... It's that
bit of blue at the base of the large tree on the right...
Actually as most rivers run from north to south it kind of looks like the sun
is setting in the north but we're on a bend in the river and the sun actually
sets "up river" and rises from "down river."
As you can see it really looks like we live in the "boonies." It's hard to
believe that we're only about a half a mile from a "limited access", "super
duper" highway, and only about 15 minutes from our capitol city of Harrisburg.
Just the way I like it, out of the way, but near civilization!
***********************************
Betty and I have another bulk mail ready to go the post office thanks to Betty's
efforts yesterday afternoon and evening.. Just love getting out a bunch
of mail at the beginning of the week. It's the best way to start my week....
***********************************
The price of gasoline is still sinking but very slowly around our area...
Hopefully pretty soon, it will be down below $2 and headed to where it
actually should be... In my estimation around $1.60 a gallon...
I doubt we'll see it down near a buck anymore... It really hasn't been that
long since it was almost there but they've gotten folks too used to paying
higher prices and have continued to pound it in our heads how we should be
paying more than we are, as England and Europe are and we should be grateful....
Well, seeing that several of the major oil companies reported billions of
dollars profit in the last quarter of the year, don't you think they'd be a
bit grateful to us?
My question is, in England and the rest of Europe, as they all drive around in
little toy cars, does this mean that we should all be driving around in toy
cars now? I don't think so!
Heck they even have small 3 wheel delivery trucks over there.... of course if
we had to pay what they are paying for fuel I guess maybe we'd be driving them
also..
My question is, why should we have to... We used to, not so long ago, be the
largest producer of crude oil in the world.... We should NEVER have to pay
what foreign countries are paying..
So big oil companies, quit telling us how darn lucky we are and get the fuel
to us at fair prices HERE, NOT in EUROPE!
************************************
I found out that in my best program/business,
Elements,
just last week, I had 3 people covert from our company, "test
drive" for 3 months for only $5 bucks promotion, to full company paid
associates, under me and whomever they "fell" under in my matrix downline.
This means that I will make some bonus commission checks on them and I'll also
be making commission on them each month from now on. Of course whomever they
are under in my downline will be making commission on them as well! My
downline members are going to make commissions from my efforts... That's what
I call and easy way to make money! Take your own "test
drive" by clicking on "test
drive", print out the form, fill it out and send it along to me for
placement in my downline and in the company matrix.. You'll get your own
Web Page from
Elements,
plus an evaluation package as well... Do it NOW while you're thinking
about it!

BLOGS
It's hard to believe with all the blogs you read about that they are actually
a fairly new concept.
December 1997 Jorn Barger invents the term "weblog" to describe his own
Web site!
December 1998 An inventory of all known Web logs is taken; it tallies
all of 23 sites!
April 1999 Peter Merholz coins shorter term: "blog."
August 1999 Pyra Labs launches Blogger, a free blog-hosting service.
October 2001 Six Apart releases Movable Type for making blogs.
December 2002 Political bloggers drive Trent Lott from Senate majority
leader post over allegedly racist comments.
February 2003 Google buys Pyra Labs and its Blogger.com; becomes
world's top blog host.
March 2003 Oxford English Dictionary lists "blog" as a noun and a verb.
September 2003 Worldwide blog count soars to 1 million!
August 2004 Bloggers are cleared to cover U.S. political conventions!
May 2005 Blogosphere explodes to 10 million blogs!
September 2005 Google introduces blog search feature.
November 2005 Blogosphere doubles in size again; now at 20 million
outposts!
Now Today there are 100,000 new blogs created every day!
Just to show you the power of the Web in one more form... It's hard to believe
that it's only been around for a few years!
As you can see at the bottom of this page I've been doing this "Chuck's
Daily" blog since July of 2002!!!! I actually was posting long before
that but changed to this format on July 1st of 2002! Looks like this one
is one of the older Blogs, huh?
It's just like me, it keeps getting older and older... Oh well, it's
been fun... I thought you might be interested in this new phenomenon of
Blogs.... I'm sure they'll be around for a long time to come...
From the ones I've checked out, most of them only get posted to sporadically.
Very few are updated on a daily basis...
************************************
It's the beginning of the week today and that means a nice, big, Monday mail... I'd
better get really caught up before my daily trip to the post office as it will
take me some time to get through today's mail... so..... for me it's back to
work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Monday!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today....
"The Prince of U.S. Cranks" became lieutenant governor of Minnesota at the age
of twenty-eight and later a U.S. Congressman, a state senator, and the
candidate of the Populist Party for Vice-President. Ignatius Donnelly was a
radical political reformer (he sharply opposed political corruption and
corporate monopolies) as well as pseudo-scientist. He got his nickname from
the press for asserting that Atlantis had existed, that Francis Bacon wrote
the plays of Shakespeare (there was a cipher message in the plays that
revealed the "fact"), and that the Earth had been catastrophically tortured by
a visiting comet. Donnelly's novel Caesar's Column, predicting fascism in the
twentieth century, was a best seller (a million copies!)

T.G.I.F.
I hope you have a GREAT
Veteran's Day!
It's another nice sunny morning here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central
Pennsylvania but I'm afraid is going to be a chilly day as it's only supposed
to go up in the high forties or low fifties today....
********************************
I was debating on whether to post here today or not seeing how today is a
holiday but there are a few things I wanted to mention so here I am, holiday
or no holiday. I know a lot of folks are off work today but many are still
working and it looks like I'm one that will be working all day today as well.
They'll be no mail today but that's okay as I'm still busy getting mail
together for mailing and I'll be mailing a "ton" of it tomorrow!
I love it when I have a lot of mail going out as it means a lot more orders
will be coming in, and that's a GOOD THING as Martha would say.
I don't bother watching the Martha
Stewart show in the mornings as I have no interest in her "stuff" but it
doesn't stop my admiration of her. She took all they could "throw" at her and
came out smelling like a rose and in better condition, in all ways, than when
the entire fiasco started! You've just got to admit that she IS a great
business women!
**********************************
It never ceases to amaze me just how stupid, we as Americans can get. It seems
that day before yesterday, San Francisco residents voted to ban the sale and
possession of handguns and ammunition even after the police union opposed
the idea, saying the law wouldn't help fight crime in the city.
Un-freakin'-beliveable!!! Click here for the story:
Idiot's of San Francisco
Can you believe people are THAT stupid? Do they actually think that the crooks
out there will turn in THEIR weapons? Of course they won't! What will happen
is that the only people that will have hand guns will be the crooks! The
honest, law abiding citizen will end up with nothing to protect themselves and
a stupid law that prevents them from getting a gun for that purpose!
Those of you who have been reading this post for awhile know that I'm all for
folks having the right to own a gun for their protection...
I've always had guns for hunting and a couple of old hand guns that I never
used.... Kind of just sentimental value as my Dad had them...
But, about 10 to 15 years ago, with all the crazies, and weirdoes out there
lately, Betty and I decided to buy a hand gun for each of us and we also
signed up and took a course on handling and shooting them properly. Betty's is
kept home just about always, but I carry one just about all the time...
I've NEVER had to even show it to anyone and most folks don't even know I have
it and I'll be VERY happy to keep it that way forever....
I think what really got us to thinking about it to start with was several
shootings years ago when one guy went to a McDonald's and killed a lot of
people and wounded many others. If ANYONE that was there or around that place
would have had a gun with them, they probably could have saved a lot of
misery, anguish and murders from happening.
If some dumb idiots want to "off" themselves It's none of my business... I
only get upset when they feel they must take "others" with them. Some take
their wives/husbands and children with them and others feel that they've got
to take a bunch of innocent strangers with them. I don't know nor do I give a
fiddly - diddley what's going on in their pea brain but when it involves me,
my family, or other decent folks then I think we all should be responsible to
stop such people. It brings to mind about those VERY brave people who gave
their lives to bring down the plane over Pennsylvania that was scheduled to do
a lot of damage in Washington, the day the Towers fell. Those folks knew what
they had to do and did it! Those are the kind of people I admire and the kind
that we should all admire!
Oops... I kind of drifted off course there again... I'm famous for that...
I was talking about the dummies out in San Francisco and thought about several
years ago when the state of Texas really went lax on their hand gun laws...
Now in Texas, they don't need a Permit to purchase rifles and shotguns, and
neither do you have to register them! Owners do NOT have to register their
rifles and shotguns that they already own. They don't need a permit to
purchase, nor do they have to register a handgun! They don't have to have a
license to own them but they do need a permit to carry handguns...
There is NO State waiting period to buy one and they need no record of sale.
Since these new gun laws were passed in Texas the crime rate has literally
took a dive! I personally think it did that because the crooks are afraid to
assail someone knowing now that there are many more citizens armed, to the
teeth!
Yep, my philosophy is, put the average citizen on an "even keel" with the
crooks. Heck if crooks want a gun, do you really think they have ANY problem
at all getting one? Yeah, about as much trouble as they have with getting any
kind of drugs they want!
Until a criminal is caught, and they take his weapons, we may as well give
them a license to own and use them as they will do it anyway.
The best thing we can do for the crooks is make it harder for Mr. and Ms.
Honest Citizen to have guns for protection. It makes their "jobs" a whole lot
easier if we are NOT armed!!!

I talked to the owner of
Elements
yesterday, Jeff Charlton to ask him how our new program offer was doing. This
is the offering to take the home business for "a
test drive" for 3 months for only $5 bucks! Just click here,
TEST DRIVE, print the
application, fill it out, and mail it to me with $5 and I'll sign you into the
program directly into my downline. Over the next 3 months the company will
place some FREE signups into your downline, (which you can keep track of in
the back office of your own website they provide), plus I'll also be placing
some folks under you as well! All this for only $5 bucks... There
is no obligation, of course, and should you decide that it's not your "cup of
tea" just quit and that'll be the end of it...... It's quite an
opportunity.... I've been with the company for over a year and have a very
nice monthly commission check coming in...
At any rate, Jeff said that everything was going quite well with the new offer
and told me to hang on a second... he came back to say that already this
month, I had 3 of the $5 folks that the company and I placed into my downline
actually "upgrade" already to full membership. They see folks being placed
into their downline for FREE and decide that's just what they've been looking
for... These are now paid, "personal" sign-ups that I will receive cash
sign-up bonuses for! That's in addition to my regular monthly commission
check! If you have any "inkling" at all of getting into your own home
part time or full time business, then for gosh sakes take an EXTREMELY close
look at what my
Elements
business has to offer... For only $5 bucks, about the cost of a pack of
cigarettes, you'll not only get a lot but you'll learn a lot as well!
**********************************
I think, if we can, Betty and I will got out for lunch today. Maybe not, it
all depends how fast we can get caught up with some work around here. I would
like to take a break though... That's one of the perks of having your own home
business... I may not be taking all day off today,
Veteran's Day, but I can take a few hours off to enjoy myself...
Also, let's all take a few minutes to honor our 26 million living veterans...
Click here to see a Tribute to Veterans, short movie....
Veteran's Day

Well, if I'm going to get anything done today I'll have to get back to work
and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
Veteran's Day!!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today....
As recently as 1964, the United States was still the world's number one
producer of oil. It was overtaken the next year by the Middle East, and by
1970 the Middle East was producing a third more oil than the United States!

It's sunny here, off and
on, in Central
Pennsylvania but a bit on the chilly side and will probably stay that way as
it's only supposed to go up to the lower 50's... Looks like Fall is back here
again. I really can't complain because after an Indian Summer we've still been
having temperatures way above the average for this time of the year....
*******************************
We met Betty's two sons, John & Diz, yesterday for lunch at our favorite Chinese
Restaurant, the
PA Grand Buffet. I know, it sounds like Betty and I live there, and
sometimes as often as we eat there, it kind of seems like we do. Well, if the
old saying, "you are what you eat", is right... I guess pretty soon we'll look a
bit on the Asian side! I don't think so though as the Chinese restaurants
actually don't serve REAL Chinese food... It's really American food with a
Chinese slant... (Opps sorry about the pun.).. It's like their Sushi Bar...
none of the selections are actually raw... they're cooked but no one tells you
that, unless of course you ask.. Just the idea thinking that we are
eating raw fish, shrimp and eel, stop some of us from even trying them.. The
brave ones will find they are quite tasty but I wouldn't want to try to "fill
up" on them.. There's too much of other good hot food that is
available at the buffet counters...
If you want to see some real Chinese food watch what the Chinese folks, that work
there eat... You'll find that a lot of them eat a ton of just plain rice..
No flavoring at all... Yep, with all the "stuff" that's available at their
buffet bars that are loaded with spices etc., most of them prefer just plain
ole' rice.. I think it's probably because that's what they grew up on
and to them it tastes better than the other things....
They tell us that when they were growing up, even for breakfast they ate like
a rice soup mostly with just plain rice and water..
I know for most of us that kind of food is boring but apparently it's right up
"their alley"....
It's pretty cool learning about other societies, and Betty & I don't miss a chance to
learn about folks as much as we can.
It always amazes me how different we are to the Chinese and yet how much are
values are absolutely the same. We all want just about the same things out of
life and we all love our families...

We arrived home early enough that I "fired up" all of the office computers and
did get quite a bit done before I rapped it up about 10:30 last evening.. We have
a movie that I rented from the library that I wanted to watch last night and
it was just too late. We must have it back by Saturday so hopefully will get
to watch it tonight..
I also got a few mailings assembled and will get a few more of them done
before my daily trip to the post office.
***********************************
Oh, I wanted to mention that I received several emails that my Joke Sheets for the
last couple of days where not loaded to the web site properly. I can't
understand how I made such a big mistake as I normally check all the links
after I upload this post each day... But anyway they were no where on the
server to be found so I did upload them, again, and all you have to do, as usual, is
just click on the joke sheet link at the end of each daily post for Tuesday
and Wednesday of this week...
So sorry for the screw up and I'll try to NEVER make another mistake.. After
all this was my first mistake in 82 years! (Ha!)
***********************************
This is going to be a pretty short post today as Betty and I are trying to get
another bulk mail done this week, and she is waiting for me to do some
machine folding so she can get to assembling them, stapling, taping, and
labeling them for placement in the mailing trays..
If I fool around too long, she'll sure as heck find something else to do and I
may not get her back on the bulk mail until tomorrow....
So, with that said.... for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU
have a GREAT Thursday!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today....
The Winchester House, near San Jose, California, is perhaps the most bizarre
house ever built. Mrs. Sara Winchester was convinced that if she stopped
adding rooms to her house, she would die. So every day for thirty-eight years
construction went on. The house contains 2,000 doors and 10,000 windows, many
of which open onto blank walls, and stairways that lead nowhere. The
eight-story house has forty-eight fireplaces and miles of secret passages and
hallways. When Mrs. Winchester died, in 1922 at the age of eighty-five, her
mansion contained 160 rooms and covered over six acres of ground!

It's chilly, rainy and damp
here in Central Pennsylvania and it looks like we're in for an entire day of
it.... I guess I'll be working all day here in my home office. That's
fine though as I sure have a lot to do..
Betty and I are working on another bulk mail and I received a large envelope
of "stuff" from a customer that wants me to set up a web site for him. I'll
probably be working on that off and on over the next several days...
Nothing really fancy so it won't be too hard to design and set up for him...
*******************************
I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night, no particular reason, I just
couldn't get to sleep and stay there. A small ache here and a pain there turns
into a "multitude of sins" after awhile, so finally I just gave up and did
some reading and watched some TV. Then early this morning when I should have
been getting ready to get up, my body wanted to go to sleep.... Talk
about being mixed up.... Later this afternoon maybe I'll take a nap for a half
hour or so, that should bring me "kind of" back to life a bit.
********************************
Yesterday was election day but around here there weren't many folks running
for much of anything on the ballot. I'm sure that those that were running
thought it was a big deal but it was kind of a "ho hum" ballot...
Oh sure, it was still worth me getting out there and putting my "X" on the
ballot and I enjoyed seeing some friends there. It did kind of "hit" me that
it seems like some of the friends there I only see on election day... It's a
darn shame that we're all too busy to keep more in touch with each other.....
********************************
Yesterday, in a small town, here in Central Pennsylvania, we had a dumb ass
shoot a police officer that was waiting until after midnight at his home to
serve him with a warrant. When he refused to get out of his car, police
smashed a window, and the guy began shooting. One of the bullets he fired
entered the police officer's arm missing his body armor and went behind his
lungs and lodged near his spine.
It's seems the entire fiasco ended up in a manhunt of several dozen police
officers that eventually caught up with the man and ended up killing him...
The warrant they were originally trying to serve him with was for something
minor..
Like I say all the time.... there sure are a bunch of weirdoes running around
"out there."
I swear it's nothing now days to hear about a shooting and someone getting
killed... When I was just a small kid I lived near Harrisburg outside of
a town called Linglestown... Actually right where we lived was called,
"Blue Ridge Manor" and believe it or not it's still there.
I'm sure I was too small for school yet, because my brother and sister were
not there through the day, but I can still remember the "incident" as back
then a shooting was a BIG deal.
There was a man whose name was Fawber that owned a garage/service station,
(that's what they called a gas station back then as you actually received
"service" with your gasoline purchase), that was located on route 22, now
known as Allentown Boulevard. On a Sunday afternoon a couple of guys passing
through, stopped by the garage and got Mr. Fawber outside the garage building
and held him at gun point demanding money. Mr. Fawber told them all he had was
less than $3 in his pockets as he was closed on Sunday. They took his money
and shot and killed him anyway as they were angry that they didn't get
more....
I remember my mom was on the phone all afternoon, and ours was a "party line",
talking to everyone she knew about the "killing." As a matter of fact it was
the "talk of the town" for at least the next 6 months...
For someone to get killed that close to home was unheard and it WAS a
BIG deal!
The point is that now days a killing a week or even several in a single week
seems to be no big deal and some never even make the front page of the
newspaper...
It's unbelievable how some things change over the years and a lot of times NOT
for the good...
No, I wouldn't want to be transported back to the "good ole' days", but I do
wish at times that some of the values of the "good ole' days" were transported to our time
now... Like respect for our fellow human beings.... but then that can
become a whole other story...........
*******************************
I wish I could "chat" longer today but I do have a lot that must get done, so
for me it's back to work..... and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
Wednesday!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today....
The snow-capped "land of the thunder dragon" --Bhutan, north of India --
issued a postage stamp that is actually a tiny phonograph record. It plays,
naturally, the Bhutanese national anthem!

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE
TODAY!
It's nice and sunny here,
this morning in Central Pennsylvania and it's supposed to go up into the mid
60s, which is still far above the average temps for this time of the year, and
I'm loving it! I'm hoping it stays like this all Winter.... Yes, I know that
will never happen but I can hope can't I?
********************************
I took some time out of this office yesterday afternoon and Betty and I went
to do a little shopping... We decided that it's getting to much to put
up all the Christmas decorations and
get
the tree down from the attic, put it together, check the lights, string them
and finish decorating the tree... It always takes a couple of days just to
decorate the tree.
Even though I love it and when it's all done, I just love the tree and
decorations... I never want to take 'em down. So, we took a vote and the vote
was 2 to 0 that we were going to downsize the Christmas Tree this year....
We should have done it 2 years ago before I bought the last tree..
I know I'm always bitching about stores getting out Christmas items and
pushing Christmas early even before Thanksgiving but there was a sale in the
paper for a brand new store in the Harrisburg area called
NAMCO. Apparently they specialize in
Christmas trees and decorations at this time of the year. They had an early
bird sale that ends Saturday so we thought we'd check it out and see what kind
of "pre-decorated" tree. (Ended up the the tree we finally decided on wasn't
on sale anyway!)
Seems like NAMCO specializes in
Swimming pools and related items in the Summer and around this time of the
year they switch to Christmas items... They sure had a large display of
beautiful trees. The picture on the left shows just a few of them.
We met a salesman there, Nick McCoy, that didn't remind us of a salesman at
all but he was actually a very intelligent, warm and likeable individual. Nick
showed us various trees and explained how each one differed, but beyond the
trees, we discussed just about everything else and really had a good time
shopping for our new tree.
It's rare to meet such a person as Nick and I just wanted to take a line or so
to thank him for guiding us to just what we had in mind for our downsizing
project. Nick also assured us that he definitely is "the REAL McCoy"!!!
That's what he said and I just couldn't resist repeating it!
At any rate, we ended up with an absolutely beautiful tree that will take us a
minimum amount of time and effort to put up every year... We're going to
put it up early this year... It's been ages since we've put up our tree early
as it's been such a chore we have in the last several years put it off to the
last minute... We we get it up, I'll put a picture of it up here for you to
see... (I didn't want to mention that we're downsizing because we're getting
old and decrepit because actually Betty isn't, but I'm afraid I am....)
***********************************
As I figured, yesterday was a good mail day and I received a nice bag full of
mail. Some orders, some adverts, some inquiries and some, just plain
letters... As we didn't get home 'til pretty late, I'm afraid that I still
have most of it to sort through..
I did get a "funny" letter, actually it was more of a note from a guy that
told me he had ordered a FREE copy of my
Chuck's Mail Order News &
Opportunities, small News Letter/Magazine, printed edition a month
or so ago and never received it. He also said that if I didn't send him his
FREE copy soon, he was going to "report me!" I checked my records and I did
send him a copy. It went out by bulk mail and sometimes some copies get "lost"
in the mail, especially when sent by bulk mail.... I will send him another
copy though even with his VERY negative attitude...
He never did tell me whom he was |
