Aren't holidays fun? Well,
I guess it depends on what you are doing at any given time to get ready for
them. If you're standing in line waiting to pay for a cart full of gifts and
the line is moving as slow as molasses in January, I guess that can be a
little irksome. Or if your out on the roads in the holiday traffic, that can
also be very trying. However, certain things I really enjoy about the
holidays. Like tomorrow, Thanksgiving. A visit to the kids house, a wonderful
meal, and a leisurely visit. Now what can be better than that? Besides, I
didn't even mention that I'll be taking most of the day off! Can't beat it
with a stick. I also enjoy putting up the Christmas tree and looking at all
the neighbors decorations. The spirit of the holiday, the singing, and the
music. The exchanging of gifts. Watching the younger children when they open
their gifts. Now that's what I call a good time! Yes, there are a lot of good
things to enjoy around the holidays.... Tuesday, November 26, 2002
Thanksgiving is almost
here. Just today and tomorrow and it's here. Are you ready? That's one of the
good things about aging. We always get invited out to one of the kid's houses
to eat our Thanksgiving meal. This year we're going to John's, (Betty's son),
house. His wife Debbie is a terrific cook and I've never been disappointed
with any meal we've eaten there. She always cooks a big meal and does a bang
up job of it. Maybe I should stop eating now so I have plenty of room 'til
Thursday. I've got to get off this subject as my mouth is starting to water
and I don't want to short out my keyboard! Monday, November 25, 2002
A new week and a beautiful
sunny day here in Central Pennsylvania to start it with! I bought Spam killer
software over the weekend and I installed it last night so I'm still learning
how to use it. I just got so darn tired of getting unsolicited pornography
emails. The emails advertising their sites are bad enough but lately they
include explicit graphics. I'm no prude by a long shot but I just don't want
those things jumping out at me when I least expect it. Besides that if someone
is in my office when I download my mail it looks like I'm a porn freak. Now,
with this software, I have a fighting chance to get rid of these suckers! (no
pun intended) I'll let you know, in the future, how it works. Friday, November 22, 2002
T.G.I.F. It's here already!
Friday, the end of the week and almost the beginning of a wonderful weekend!
At least it will be at this household! I'm feeling better each day and I'll
enjoy this weekend more than the last few since my trip to the hospital.
That's the great thing about time. It not only takes time to heal things but
to heal things mentally also. Like a close friend passing or a family member.
The same thing goes for a break off of a boy friend or girl friend, as far as
that goes any kind of mate. Of course with the last example its better if you
find a new one after awhile. It makes the break up feel much, much better!
Yes, time helps with just about everything except aging. Getting old has its
ups but I personally think that it consists mostly of downs. Everything
falling down or drooping. You get tired faster, move slower, everything that
happened to your body back in your younger days comes back to haunt you when
you get older. Ever had a broken bone. Well you'll feel it again when you
become old enough. All the cuts, bruises, broken bones, dislocations,
operations, all of them will come back to haunt you with aches and pains in
your old age. Of course it's not all that bad. There are some good things to
getting old. I'm not even going to go into the family benefits about seeing
your grandchildren grow and your children get older etc., but you get to see
the constantly changing technology which I really love. The improvements in
computers, electronics, automobiles and just about everything else. And of
course the movies are better on the whole. Yes there are plenty
advantages to reaching a ripe old age too. Of course I don't know all the
benefits just yet. I am getting older, (59) but there are a lot of folks older
than that I'm sure would have plenty to add to my above ramblings. Thursday, November 21, 2002
Looks like we're in for
about three days of rain here in Central Pennsylvania. That's okay though as I
have plenty to do right here in the office and around the house over the next
few days. We had a GREAT time yesterday with Betty's son and his wife Cherry,
even joined us at the Chinese restaurant for lunch buffet yesterday afternoon.
Diz, then followed us home and we had a great evening giving him gifts and
just plain shooting the breeze. The mighty Susquehanna river, (that runs in
our back yard), is on the rise and now they are calling for 3 more days of
rain. So far we are in good shape but we'll have to wait over the next week to
see just how much rain we get here and to the north of us. I sure don't feel
like evacuating again here. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see. We may
see some early snow around here too on Saturday. Wow what odd weather. We used
to get all kinds of snow here. Of course that was before 1997 when I bought
our 4 wheel drive Jeep. As our little country lane access road back to our
place used to get quite impassable I thought after all the years of getting
stuck back here we'd get a 4 wheel drive vehicle and then when the snow came
we could feel confident that we would not get trapped and need something.
Well, since 1997 when we bought the new Jeep I haven't had it in the 4 wheel
drive mode for I'll bet over 10 minutes! I'm not complaining as I like a
little snow for the Christmas season just for the effect, but after that's
over, you can keep the snow as it's nothing but trouble. Wednesday, November 20, 2002
We're in for a nice sunny
day here, in Central Pennsylvania. A little nippy but nice. It's going to be a
great day for our plans. This morning I'll be working in my office as usual
however early afternoon will find us taking Betty's son, John Desmond, out for
a nice lunch and spend some time with him as his birthday is this week. So we
should have a very nice afternoon. Tuesday, November 19, 2002
It's hard to believe that
winter does not arrive, "officially" here, in Central Pennsylvania for over a
month from now. At least not after getting up to nearly freezing temperatures
this morning. Brrrrr, it was really cold out this morning. Thank goodness for
furnaces. I was just watching 3 squirrels play in a tree right outside my
office in a tree. Running each other and jumping from branch to branch and
just basically having a ball. They're not a bit cold. Actually they seem to
enjoy this nippy weather. It reminds me just how fragile we humans are. We are
of course in the animal family but by golly as far as being made hearty and
able to get off to a fast start, we got the short end of the stick. Just about
any animal you can name when they are born within minutes they are on their
feet and looking for mama and for food. On the other hand there we are minutes
after we're born bawling and crying and waiting for our parents to "tend" to
us and take care of us. Wow! We can't even walk for a year or so. Compared to
the rest of the animal kingdom we are made quite puny. Take a cat and drop it
off a one story house. It's able to maintain it's balance, land on it's feet
and walk away as if nothing bad had happened. Now, you take the same plunge.
You've got a good chance of breaking something and or even death! We may
eventually, as we grow, develop more brains than the average animal, however
that's about the only thing that we're superior over them with. We can't see
as good, run as good, climb as good, and we sure can't smell as good as they
can. (Hey! there are the squirrels again, they ARE having a ball...)
They may have a short life span and are food for other animals but they don't
have to earn a living and go to work everyday. Hmmmmm... did I say we have
more brains??? Monday, November 18, 2002
It's a beautiful day here
in Central Pennsylvania to start a new week! It's going to be a Jim dandy too
as Betty and I assembled the bulk mail yesterday and it's just about ready to
go to the post office. I just have to do the paperwork on it and load it into
the Jeep. As this mailing is running late because of my short trip to the
hospital we'll be doing another mailing this week almost right away. Friday, November 15, 2002
T.G.I.F. It's another
beautiful morning here in Central Pennsylvania! We'd better enjoy today around
here as they are calling for a nasty, cold, rainy weekend. That's just fine
for me though as I have plenty to get done right here in the office over the
weekend. I have finished writing and pasting up the latest
"Chuck's Mail Order News &
Opportunities", finally, and we will have an issue out in the mail by
tomorrow. It's been a struggle and we will be doing two mailings a week until
we are caught up! Thursday, November 14, 2002
It's a beautiful sunny day
here in Central Pennsylvania. Very chilly but a beautiful day! Whoa, wait a
minute, our "Wild"
Bunny is looking through the sliding glass door in my office right to my
left. Looks like he's hungry. I just called Betty to bring some "grub" for
him. Geez... he almost pulled the plate out of Betty's hand. Boy he must be
hungry! Wednesday, November 13, 2002
The middle of the week
already and all is proceeding as planed. In a pig's eye it is! Nothing seems
to be going on schedule this week. Some things have gone quite well but all is
late and will probably remain that way longer than I had thought they would. I
thought I'd be able to get caught up by working a little overtime however, by
the time evening gets here I'm just about shot. What's that Old, Old song when
I was a kid? Oh yeah now I remember it was called the Pop Corn Song. To
give you an idea of how the words went here's a little of it.
"Too pooped to pop and I ain't lyin', too pooped to pop
just a layin' here fryin', salt and butters ready and the fire, it's hot, but
I guess I'm just too pooped to pop!" Yep that's it.... I guess "I'm
just too pooped to pop", here lately. Hopefully that will pass in the near
future. I least I hope it does. That aside, everything is going pretty good. A
few more pills to take, and I had to cancel my dental appointments for 3
months, (because of the heart stents), but other than that things are going
pretty well. Tuesday, November 12, 2002
This may be your first day
back to work since last week. If so that's great as that means you're in for a
short week. I'm sorry for running so late getting up this post today but it
seems here lately, that I'm late getting everything done. I'm really looking
forward to getting caught up with a lot of "stuff"... that's a fer sure! If
you're in good health don't forget to get your yearly physicals and take your
daily vitamins etc. Believe me in the long run it will be worth it because
once you've lost your health it's a never ending battle just to stay feeling
good enough to get some things done. And on top of that it's seems like you're
always on your way to different doctors constantly. To me sometimes it seems
like every other day. Monday, November 11, 2002
Yes! I made it and I'm
back! I had 3 stents installed in my heart and All is well with that part. I
feel pretty good. Sore as heck and must take it easy for a couple or three
weeks but other than that not bad at all. I found I had some other problems
while in the hospital but nothing life threatening at the moment. They were
going to keep me in over the weekend for more tests but thanks but no thanks.
I think I'll let my heart heal a bit before we do anything else. Next Post Here should be either Friday the 8th or Monday the 11th as soon as I get back from the hospital! Take care 'til then! --- Chuck Tuesday, November 5, 2002
Looks like we're in for
another good day here, in Central Pennsylvania. Been working long and hard
here in the office and still don't have done what I was hoping to get done
before my trip to the hospital tomorrow. Oh well I guess it sure isn't going
any where and will be here when I get back home. As I mentioned yesterday, I
probably won't be getting out until Friday sometime so this may be the last
time I post here to the daily this week. If so YOU have a GREAT
week. Don't work too hard until I get back, okay? There is so much going on in
my mail order business I don't know how it will survive until I get back but I
guess those things kind of take care of themselves. I know I'll probably have
a ton of mail waiting on me. Monday, November 4, 2002
The beginning of a brand
new week! It's going to be a short one for me. My heart doctor called over the
weekend and now instead of entering the hospital on Thursday it looks like I
must go in a day earlier on Wednesday. I probably won't be out until Friday
sometime so I'll post here tomorrow and that may be the last post until next
week! If I feel up to it, I'll put up a post on Friday if I get home to let
you know what's happening and fill you in on what's happening around here. I'm
working overtime here as I am trying to get a bulk mail out before I go in on
Wednesday. I'm still not done writing and pasting up the Newsletter/Magazine
"Chuck's Mail Order News &
Opportunities" but I'll be working on that today and then I'll be able
to print it. Then all I must do is get all the insert circulars folded and it
will be ready for Betty to assemble. I'm going to try to finish it today and
that will give me a day's break before I must leave for a few days. Friday, November 1, 2002
T.G.I.F. The end of the
week and just a few hours before our weekend starts. It's going to be a GREAT
one. Hopefully I'll get a lot done in the office as I've lost a lot of time
this week running to doctor's and for tests etc., getting prepared to go to
the hospital next week. Matter of fact I must go to the hematologist this
morning for more blood tests. As it's at 11 AM I'll have to leave here pretty
soon as it's over on the west shore and will take some time to get there.
