It was a beautiful, sunny,
day here in Central Pennsylvania. A bit on the humid side, but a
beautiful day, none the less.
***************************************
Yesterday, Betty and I ran a few errands and had to do a little shopping... It
does give me a chance to see how the gas prices are doing. Sure enough, just
as I predicted, now that the Memorial Day holiday is over, some gasoline
prices at a couple of stations have already begun to drop. One yesterday went
down 6 cents to $2.99 and today when I took a trip to the post office, the
small gas station, here in the town of Dauphin, have dropped their price down
to $2.97 which is 6 cents from what it was yesterday. Nothing fantastic, but
at least below the 3 dollar mark!
The big oil companies couldn't come up with any of the old excuses that would
work anymore, I guess by now, they're all "over worked", so now they are
saying that their refineries are just too old and in need of updating to keep
up with the job of refining more oil to keep up with the needs of us
Americans... Talk about a bunch of crap... They have been touting record
profits for the last 4 quarters. I guess it never occurred to them to take
some of that money to update their refineries. Yeah right.... what a
lame excuse...
"We're making record profits, what should we do with all of this money?"
"Well, duh, lets just spend some and put the rest in the bank, we don't need
to do anything to the refineries to keep them in shape, do we?".... Duh?
Heck, why bother, we can charge what ever we want, so when our refineries need
updated, it will give us yet another lame excuse to up the gasoline and diesel
prices again.... After all, the dumb American people expect us to put
the prices up higher anyway and will pay whatever we charge them as they are
too dumb to do anything about it.
Yep, I can just hear all the execs. sitting around their board room now
talking just like the above... Apparently, I must be the only one that
is really hurting trying to keep gasoline in my tank as I'm the only one that
I know that is doing any kind of cutting back in our driving habits to keep
from using more and more gasoline that we can't afford to buy to start
with.... Oh, once and awhile, when our local TV channel go to a gas station
and interview some of the customer's they'll do a little bitching, but very
few of them will admit to doing anything to change their driving habits to
keep from buying as much fuel...
There was one about 3 nights ago on the 6 o'clock news that said he was
letting his car sit in the driveway the rest of the Summer as he had just
bought a used motorcycle to drive to work each day as he was getting killed by
the prices as well.
In the meantime, it's not just the fact that we're still getting nailed to the
wall at the pumps, but everything continues to inflate as far as prices go to
keep up with the cost of shipping the goods to the stores. Yes, everything
continues to rise as the truck shippers just can't continue to eat the high
costs of fuel.
When you walk into ANY store, look at the shelves of goods and try and find
anything that is not shipped there by truck. Unless it's made locally with in
a block or so, or grown on a local farm, everything must be shipped by truck
or by train and then by truck to it's final destination.... It's a fact,
and when the gas is high, the prices of the goods must go up as well to
compensate.... A lot of the time, even when and if gasoline prices do go
back down some, I doubt that the cost of the goods will go back to where they
were, EVER. Once they have risen, and the people get used to spending that
price for something, they will NEVER bring the price back down to where it was
to start with.
But then, we all knew that, didn't we?
*******************************************
Did you read, or hear about the younger folks, mainly teenagers, think that
it's best not to have sex before they are committed and married.. Sounds good
right? Yep, that's what I thought until I read the rest of the article...
Seems like they think that oral sex is okay though as that doesn't count as
REAL sex... So now all the kids are having oral sex... That way they
can't get pregnant. Well, that may be true, but then I read a follow-up
article about all the diseases that are being spread through oral sex! Geez...
what a multitude of sins.... and oh yes, they can spread AIDS as well....
Makes me want to gag when I think about it... Where in the heck did they
get the idea that oral sex isn't real sex...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... you don't think it could have had anything to do with our
former President, Bill Clinton, in the oval office of the White House, when he
said, "I did NOT have sex with that woman!" At least he didn't have REAL
sex... it was just ORAL sex!
Yes, I'm not stupid enough to think that all of this going on now with our
teenagers is directly related to that one incident in the White House, but you
know, it's things like that incident, that REALLY DO make an impression on
young minds..
I remember when I was in school, we were taught to look up to our president.
He was tops and after all he did head our country. When the president
spoke, people stopped talking and listened to each and every word that he had
to say. We had respect for our presidents. I remember thinking that President
Eisenhower was something next to a god and wonder why he didn't get angry when
they called him by his nickname, Ike.
I thought that he must really be a nice guy to allow folks to refer to him as
Ike. After all he was not just a president, he was also a war hero and really
deserved respect..
The first time he took the oath, I was in about 2nd grade and the teacher
brought a radio to school with her so our class could listen to Dwight D.
Eisenhower take the oath of office of President of the United States of
America.. She said it was VERY important and that we should listen to each and
every word as some of us may never hear another take that oath... I didn't
understand what she meant at the time, but I do remember that you could have
heard a pin drop in that classroom when that radio with a bit of static was on
and the president was listening and taking the oath of office... Boy, I don't
know about the rest of the kids, but I was impressed, and I was really glad
that our teacher thought enough of us to cart that radio of hers to school
with her for us to hear it...
Yes, back then, and for a long time afterward, I never heard anyone take "pot
shots" at our president... I can recall when I started to take notice
that many folks had lost respect for a president or disagreed with him enough
to "bad mouth" him, and it was during the Vietnam war... Many of the hippies
of the 60s protested that war and held many, many sit-in's to have the
soldiers brought home and to stop the war...
That was an awful long war, and it will never stop.. It was going on
when I was in junior high school as I remember reading about it then...
Of course we weren't into it much then... Just a few of our military over
there to help train South Vietnams officers etc... Until it later got
escalated.... That's when I realized that we should have never gotten involved
in that war to begin with....
I was REALLY against it and felt so bad for our troops that had died there,
were maimed, and were in prison camps for years... It was terrible... By this
time I started my own family and I had two sons.... The war kept raging for
years and my boys were now in their early teens... This is when I
started to make plans to take them to Canada, when they got old enough to get
involved in the war... Fortunately, I didn't have to as we pulled out in
plenty of time before my boys reached that age, and no, I'm not ashamed of
it...
I've always thought that if anyone dared attack the United States of America,
me AND my sons would be the first to be there to fight and protect it..
However, we should NEVER be the aggressor... We should NEVER be the one to
start a fight, (war.)
I was taught this in school and it still rings true... We should always
protect our citizens and our country, but we do not go around the world and
start wars with other countries just because we can beat them... and do
this just so they THINK the way we do... Since when do we have the right to do
anything to others to make them think our way? That's just plain nonsense...
No, I'm not going to get started on the Iraq war as with what I've written
above, I think you already know what I think about it...
Here we are again, with our troops, dieing and getting maimed, where they
shouldn't be to start with... Yes, I have relatives over there and one or two
grand kids as well... I worry about them every day.... All for what?????
NO, I said I won't get started on that....
***************************************
At any rate, on a brighter note, Summer must have snuck in just since last
week as we have had to turn our Air Conditioners on for the last two days and
it looks like we're in for tomorrow as well... The temps got up into the
low 90s today.. It's hard to believe when just last week we were burning a
heater to take the morning chill off the house!
I kind of figured this year would be like the last couple and we would jump
right from winter into summer and miss out on spring just about altogether...
The State's helicopter's were out this morning and flew right over our house
about 20 feet away spraying the river for the gnats... Am I ever glad to see
that as the gnats in the beginning for summer are just about enough to EAT you
alive... One or two spray jobs and they will be down to a least a
manageable level... It won't wipe 'em out, but it will put a heck of a dent in
their population...

SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
Betty and I just finished another bulk mailing today and it will go to the
post office tomorrow morning. I just put in in the flat boxes and
finished the paperwork. All I have to do is write a check and deliver the
whole mess to the post office..
If you are having trouble getting out your promotional circulars and/or need
some help, you may want to consider my mailing service..
SHORT RUN PRINT AND MAIL. I
mail 2 hundred packages each and every week that contain my small
newsletter/magazine, Chuck's Mail Order News & Opportunities along with about
15 to 16 full sized 8½" X 11" circulars... We can print and mail some
for you from your master copy, or if you want to do your own printing, we can
mail your own circulars for you. If you want to see what are rates are
for the Printing and Mailing, just click here: Chuck's
SHORT RUN PRINT AND MAIL. Right
now, these are the rates, but I'm pretty sure I'll be raising them before too
long.. The last 4 postage increases I've eaten, and paper and ink have
went up several times since I made these rates effective. Now, I'm
afraid with the last postage increase, it's the "straw that broke the camel's
back", as I just can't continue to "eat" the extra costs.... Paper 4 months
ago, for white paper was 17.95 a case of 10 reams or 5,000 sheets....
The last case I picked up last week was $24.95! That's quite an increase
in just 4 months... I'm sure it's because of the increase in shipping cost
because of the high fuel prices, because paper is very heavy.... But I doubt
that the rates for paper will ever come back down to what they were even if
gasoline does drop some.... At any rate, if you'd like to get in on the
present rates and take advantage of some good savings, click here,
SHORT RUN PRINT AND MAIL,
and print out the circular, fill it in, READ THE DIRECTIONS, and
send it in with your master circular copy, and proper payment. Most cases, we
can print and mail your circular(s), cheaper than you can just get them
printed locally!
*********************************************
Well it's almost 11 PM so today is just about shot. So, I'm going to wrap up this

Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Oysters shipped 1,000 miles inland, from the Connecticut shore to Illinois,
open their shells in Illinois at the times of high tides at their ancestral
beds. After a couple of weeks, they alter their schedule and open their shells
when it would be high tide in their new domicile!

It's a beautiful Sunday
here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania... I've been
working here in the office most of the day because, as usual, I'm running
behind with a lot of stuff... As tomorrow will see the Post Office closed for
Memorial Day, I'm working now to get a bulk mail ready for mailing on Tuesday
morning...
Geez.... lets face it, if the post office keeps increasing their postal rates,
I'll have to take out a loan every time I want to do a mailing!
***************************************
Thank goodness, it's not that bad yet... Right now, all I must worry about is
getting enough gasoline to get the mailing to the Post Office! Yep, believe it
or not, gasoline is over $3 bucks a gallon almost everywhere in the United
States....
Yep, over $3 bucks, and it's still not slowing down the Americans from buying
it and traveling all over the place over the holidays... No wonder the Oil
Companies feel they can charge anything they want and we'll pay it, as it sure
looks like that's the truth!
I had a friend of mine send me a helpful solution on how to help take care of
the high cost of gasoline... Oh heck, here it is, I'll share it with you.....
Actually, this is George Carlin's solution the the gasoline problem:
Subject: GAS SAVER
Subject: Saver Gas George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline
Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop using so
much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million
less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down. Bring our troops
home from Iraq to guard the border. When they catch an illegal immigrant
crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to
Iraq. Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the
military.
Give him a soldier's Pay while he's there and tax him on it. After his tour,
he will be allowed to become a Citizen since he defended this country. He will
also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. This option will
probably deter illegal Immigration and provide a solution for the troops in
Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves. If they
refuse to Serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo.
Problem Solved.
Yep, Let it up to George to come up with a winning solution!
***************************************
We had a little excitement,
here along the river, day before yesterday when my neighbor decided that he
would cut down a huge tree before the tree decided just to fall over some
day.. It wasn't completely dead but there were many "hollow" spots in it
that were fill with ants and they were doing their best to kill the poor
tree..
He hired a regular tree removal crew and boy did these young fellows know
what they were doing...
They cut down each and every limb from the, a least 100 feet high, tree and
dropped it to the ground via rope until they got down to the largest part of
the stump... That's when I snapped these two photos, to the left... In
the first one, the man is preparing it to be sawed off at the bottom, and to
drop it within inches of just where they planned that they wanted it to hit
the ground... In the second photo I snapped it right as the tree began to
topple over... And yes, it did fall EXACTLY right where they planned it
would... Thank goodness because if you study the two shots, you'll see an
awful lot of electric wires running just about all over the place... One
misstep and it could have been a catastrophe! Right on this side of the wooden
fence is where I usually park the Jeep.... They started on the tree
right at 8 AM and I wasn't even dressed yet... For some odd reason the night
before I had decided to park the Jeep in back of the house... Apparently, it's
good I did, as I would have really been worried with the tree trimming etc....
At any rate, they got it down with no mishaps and the neighbor got his yard
mostly cleaned up on Saturday.... Boy, did he ever have a job of it!
***************************************
I'll bet, as soon as the Memorial Day holiday is over, that gas begins to fall
back down some... Oh, certainly not as fast as it jumped up, but I think it
will come down some... A lot of Americans are finally getting pissed off
enough to buy less gasoline consuming automobiles and trucks... Get
enough of them thinking that way, and the gasoline companies will pay in the
future.. It WILL take a long time, but they will pay for putting us all
through this unnecessary high cost of fuel. It's really getting to a lot
of Americans and they are going more and more into debt just trying to keep
their gas tanks full, to get to work and back... The technology is here,
now, to make other kinds of different fuel systems available... The cost
has always been too great to mess with it, but the oil companies, by keeping
up their inflated, gas gouging, ways up, is now making it more and more
affordable to explore these new methods of propelling autos and trucks...
In other words, "They're cutting off their noses, to spite their faces."
All because they are GREEDY... They are not the first industry to "run
themselves" out of business by overcharging... I remember United States
steel companies doing the same thing years ago... They got so high
priced that even Japan, who had to have their ore "shipped" into the country
on boats, were out bidding the United States Steel Companies!
Now, I can go down through Steelton, Pennsylvania, which is only a few miles
from here and see literally miles of empty buildings that used to produce the
best, and cheapest steel in the World!
It can happen, and it wouldn't make me a bit mad, if the price gouging big oil
companies did that same thing to themselves..... Yes, If I sound bitter, it's
because I am!!!

SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
You know it's no surprise to ME that the 10 hottest "Blogs" on the WEB are
Blogs for Entrepreneurs! Yes, every day more and more people are realizing
that their coveted bonuses, retirement funds, and yes, even Social Security
will not be here when it comes time for them to hang up their jobs and take
that retirement step..
They are starting to build themselves home businesses now, while they can do
it part time and keep their full time jobs....
Believe me, I've seen it over and over, and they WILL be better off than the
"average dude or dudette" that doesn't make home money making plans.
Look around my site(s), and see if you see anything that "turns you on" that
would be interesting enough to get you to spend some time and money learning
how to do it yourself and work from your home...
Or, do a search on Yahoo or Google for the 10 hottest blogs and see if there's
something there for you... Yes, it's a good move no matter what you choose...
And as far as the BIG secret that everyone will want to sell you about home
business success, let me save you that buck and reveal to you right now what
that big secret is:
Yes, of course its "stick-to-it-ness" or in other words, DEVOTION. Once you
decide which money making activity you want to go with, and you don't just
have to go for just one, although I do suggest that you take one at a time and
make it into a success, don't EVER give up..... Keep your mind set and
then do WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO MAKE YOUR ENDEAVOR A SUCCESS!
(Oh, and just for the record, the second "secret" of success is to ADVERTISE!
Advertise, advertise, and then advertise some more... Those cute signs that
you see on some billboards ARE true... What are they?
"An amazing thing happens when you don't advertise...... NOTHING!"
Yes, get your sights set, and then keep your sights set!
The most important thing is to get started right now... Even if you just start
thinking about it.... Then start to check out some of the opportunities
and options that are open to you, and believe me they are nearly endless.
Just get started and get on it!
*********************************************
Well today, Sunday, is getting shorter and shorter and I have lots more to get
done, here in my home office, so I'll wrap up this

Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..

Sunday, May 20,
2007
It's another beautiful day
here in Central Pennsylvania. The sun is shinning and with temps only supposed
to reach about 72 degrees it should be an exceptionally comfortable day.
***************************************
Prices continue to rise and I'm not just talking about gasoline prices,
however, they are relentless as well with 99% of the stations in a 15 mile
radius of me, has their price on regular at $2.999, or 1/10 of 1 percent short
of $3 bucks!
I filled up at Costco's
yesterday and got a bit of a break as their prices were $2.899, 10 cents
cheaper than the others... That's still so high it's nut-so. I think
that things are really "out of whack" when gasoline is near the cost of Milk
per gallon! I grew up on a dairy farm and it's a heck of a lot more work, and
money to get a gallon of milk than it is a gallon of gasoline!
At any rate, all I hear on all the news programs on television is that when it
comes down to the nitty-gritty, everyone thinks that we are just plain being
"taken to the cleaners," and it's nothing more than price gouging. Of course
this is what I've been thinking and saying for the last couple of years!
Now the hints are being spread that gasoline is going up to around $4.00 a
gallon by the end of the summer.... Let's face it, in some places in
California gas is already around 4 bucks a gallon, at least that's what Jay
Leno says... Of course he could be talking about high test though... I
just know it's now 3 bucks here and still no one is doing anything about it...
On a news show the other morning they had an "analyst" on there trying to
"justify" why the rates are so high and he said that as long as the American
people are doing what they are doing now, the cost will never come back down
to where we used to consider it "reasonable." What's that?, asked the
Emcee.... NOTHING, answered the analyst! Absolutely nothing! No matter
how high the price of gas has gone up, according to the figures, the American
people have done nothing to conserve the use of gasoline..
I think he's right.. I've been preaching that for almost 2 years... Cut down
as much as you can... Even if you MUST use your car for work, advertise and
start a "car pool." Even if just 5 to 10 percent of the commuters did that, it
would put a heck of a dent in the use of gasoline prices... We live near
a main artery highway that feeds into and from Harrisburg, the capitol of
Pennsylvania, and sometimes when I take a "heart walk," I'll stand on a bridge
that crosses the main highway to rest and just look at all the people in cars
going down the road and they are the only one in the entire car... There are a
heck of a lot more, one passenger filled cars than there are with more than
one rider in them.... I'm also talking about "drive time." That's when
folks are either going to work, or coming home from work..
Yep there's a lot we all can do to place a dent into the gas company's
"record" profits, if we really wanted to. I guess it is easier to just
complain and do nothing but "cough" up the high cost for gasoline, than it is
to actually make an effort to cut your gas usage down. At least that what the
average American must think.
*************************************
I had to take the Jeep down to the garage to have the water pump replaced on
it on Thursday morning. It also took a new "small pipe" that was attached to
it, and a new "drive belt." Well, the drive belt was 10 years old, as the Jeep
is a 1997 so I guess it was over due for that... Just that one belt drives
everything... The emission Air Pump, the water pump, the power steering, and
the air conditioning system.. Whew! If that thing breaks, you just stop
moving, that's for sure... Cars used to have at least 3 different belts on
them...
I'll say the cost of things has gone up... The belt along was 70 some dollars
and the water pump was 60 some bucks. Then it took new antifreeze and a
clamp... The whole bill was $327.67...... I know that sounds ridiculously
high, just for a water pump, but I'm convinced that if I had taken it to a
Jeep dealer, the cost would have been at least twice what this independent
garage charged.
As it's the only vehicle we have anymore, I had to wait on it... I did
take my laptop along and got some work done... There is no waiting room at
this small garage, so I just sat in the back seat and worked...
I got up one time to stretch my legs and get a cup of coffee and was looking
around the place. This place had 2 gas pumps that were dedicated to "full
service" so they could pump gas for some of their customers.
Now let me mention that on Thursday morning the cost of the regular gasoline
was $2.98 a gallon. (When I passed the station yesterday, the cost was $3.06 a
gallon!) At any rate the attendant pumped in regular gasoline to this older
gentleman and he washed the guy's windshield and his rear window... I
glanced at the pump to see it pass the 10 gallon mark and noticed that the
price at that point was around $35 bucks... I thought to myself, gas is around
$3 a gallon and that would mean that 10 gallon it should be about $30.
So when the sale was over and the attendant came back in for a few minutes, I
just casually asked him how much extra they charged for the full service pumps
where they pumped the fuel instead of the customer... 40 cents more a gallon
he said "right off the bat." Geeze....... I hope I didn't show my surprise but
you could have knocked me over with "a feather." Holy cow, 40 cents a gallon
extra, just to pump gasoline into a gas tank.... oops... okay he did wipe the
windshield and the rear window along with the sale... I don't remember
for sure exactly how much the man bought, but say he got 15 gallons... That
would be $44.70 at the self serve pumps at $2.98 a gallon and $50.70 at the
full service or $6.00 more for about 5 minutes work! (If you can call, pumping
gas, work!) Not bad, not bad at all.
Especially when I can remember when I had my service station back in the 60's
that I made 3.5 cents a gallon on regular, and 5 cents a gallon on high test.
I sold regular for 28 cents a gallon and high test was 32 cents a gallon....
All my pumps were, of course, full service. While I was filling the tank back
then, I cleaned ALL of the outside windows, checked all the fluids under the
hood, checked the air in the tires, and offered to vacuum out the interior for
free, or at least reach in with the vacuum to clean out the ashtray!
That was all done for the 3.5 cents and 5 cents a gallon that I "grossed" on
each sale! Out of that sale my "rent" for the station was paid.... 1.5
cents a gallon is what my rent cost... So I actually made 2 cents a gallon on
regular, and 3.5 cents on high test.. and that wasn't clear... Out of
that came overhead, like electricity, labor, and many, many other costs......
I know times have changed and everything has gone up but that's a bit too
much... I'm not sure what they make now on gasoline, but the 40 cents
for "full service" was in addition to what they usually make! Heck, back
then, if I could have charged, (and gotten away with it), an extra nickel for
all the "service" we DID give, I would have thought that I was in heaven!
(Ha!)

We, Betty and I, stopped down at the Hardies' in Dauphin the other day for
some chicken, and I looked out doors and there was a Jeep parked beside ours.
It looked similar to ours, Betty thought it was newer and I thought it was a
bit older.... As there was only 4 or 5 people besides us, in the restaurant, I
asked whose Jeep that it was and an older guy piped up that it was his...
Ours is a 1997 and he said that his was a 1995. I asked him if he ever had
much of a problem with it as he said that he had bought it new as well.. He
said he never had ANY major problems with it...
Geez...... I wish that I could say the same.... Last year it was almost $2,000
to get the air conditioner fixed, and so far this year, new tires, (but that's
expected), and now another $300 and some for a water pump job... Also
we've had brakes worked on and normal things that wear out...
The man said that he had 147,000 miles on his.... We have 72,000 on ours
so it's only about half of what he got....
Oh well, I guess were just lucky! (Ha!)

SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
Well, the new postage costs have taken effect and I can see the difference in
my mail boxes already. Lot's of my usual promotional mails that I receive are
down... (A lot of regular folks call this mail, junk mail.) However, to me,
it's "money in the bank" mail... Even if I don't buy or use the service just
right then, of whomever solicited me, I do get a lot of ideas, and add their
names and addresses to my mailing list... I deal almost entirely with
"opportunity seekers," names and addresses... These are the folks that I buy
from, and that I sell to, and that I supply my services to... Mostly, I should
say, as I have built some web sites for regular, "brick and mortar" stores and
restaurants....
Now is the time to "buckle down", take the hit, and get your mailing
promotions back up to par and if anything, increase your mailings! Yes, you
heard it right, increase your outgoing promotional mailings... Lots of
people will mope around for awhile, licking their wounds, because of the price
increase... While they are fooling around, a lot of people, in the business,
will be getting less mail in their boxes, and consequently have more time to
look at YOUR offers and more time to decide... Now is when your
mailings will get more attention. Don't let this opportunity "pass you by."
Jump on it and boost your mailings now!

Well today, Sunday, is getting shorter and shorter and I have lots more to get
done, here in my home office, so I'll wrap up this
post for today, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can!
Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Extraordinary precautions were taken to prevent photographers from showing the
public what occurred on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The first
published picture, which appeared in Pear's magazine in 1907, was made
through the empty sleeve of a coat that concealed the camera from the sharp
eyes of the exchange's guards!

It rained most of the day,
and when I sat down to write this post, the sun came out, is that a good sign?
****************************************
Did you think I passed away or something? No, I'm still here and this is the
longest in 6 years it took me to get a post up here.... It won't happen
again unless I am DEAD, I promise...
After working on the deck for a couple of days, I could hardly move. Wow, I am
SURE not used to physical work, that's for sure. My body hurt so much I was
like in a different world.. It was hard trying to get anything done and
of course this being spring and the grass growing like weeds, lots more yard
work must be done practically every day... But I know I'm not the only one
going through that, and you may be also.
I often wandered why folks would rent an apartment when they could buy a house
almost as cheaply.... I'm starting to see a lot of perks to renting an
apartment that's for sure...
Last month we got our flood insurance bill, which is now mandatory, here in
Central Pennsylvania, since the flood of 1972, and as we are in flood zone
"one", it's really high. There's one good reason, right there to rent!
Also, this month, we received the property taxes, and they are nothing to
sneeze at either.... Right there in two months time is enough reason to rent
and I didn't even get to the upkeep of owning your own home.
I'm not even counting the home owners insurance but I think will see that bill
shortly as well.
The other reason is, that one time, long, long ago, when you owned your own
property, you could use it and do with it whatever you pleased. Well, Bippy,
that is no longer true, either... The government tells you everything that you
are allowed to do and that even includes allowing you to add to, develop or
improve your property.. And not only must they approve you to do it, if they
do, you must pay them a fee to allow you to do it as well.... It's called a
"Building Permit!"
Now, ain't that a kick in the head? It used to be, that all you had to do was
worry about saving enough money for a home project... That's crap now.....
Better save some extra to pay the government to allow you to do with your
property what you want to..
Then, here's another "kick in the head." Once you DO these improvements, or
additions, they tax you even more on your property as now your "own" home is
worth more money!!!!
Yep, here's another instance where they got you, "coming and going."
Ain't we lucky?
A few years back we wanted to put a deck on the back of our cottage....
I got, I think, 3 estimates for the job...
Then, like a "dutiful" citizen, I took a trip to the township office for my
"building permit." They gave me a whole mess of paperwork to do about how big
it was going to be, how far from the neighbor's property, how far from either
neighbor's buildings etc... Wow, I thought that I was on the "witness"
stand testifying, as I had to swear that all of this "stuff" that I was
writing on the required paperwork was true to the best of my knowledge, or
give up my "first born son," or something like that.
After I had all of this stuff done, it was another trip back to the township
offices to "turn in" my test, oops, I mean paperwork. That's when they nailed
me my "building permit fee." I think it was somewhere near 50 bucks... That
was just for them to check out my materials and our property to see if they
would "approve" what we wanted, and let us proceed with the addition...
Talk about a real good "rip off" deal.... They have quite a scam
going... Now, when I think back.... all of the paper work and fees were
paid about 6 weeks prior to when the construction company was to send up a
crew to build our deck... I was really getting excited... I had paid the
fees, gotten my estimates, chose my contractor, and even finished all of the
paperwork. Now, all I had to do was wait for the approval and our deck to be
built so we could go out on it and barbeque, and relax on it.... WRONG!!!
That was just the beginning of my worries.
A couple of weeks slid by and I still had no permit or any indication that
they had even come out to check the property yet..
I called them and was reassured that they may even be here when we were not
home to check things out and not to worry as we would have the building permit
in plenty of time... Good, I thought, I'm worrying for nothing again...
Just calm down, Chuck, I thought, you are worrying again for no good reason...
Two more weeks slid by very quickly, and now it was only 2 weeks until, "show
time," when the boys would be here to build our deck...
Again, I called the township office, only to be reassured that they were "on
it" and I would have my permit, "assuming that the work would be approved," in
plenty of time.. Okay I thought, no reason to lose my cool...
Then all of a sudden, it was the day before when the crew was to be here to
start the deck. I don't think I would even have the time to stop them now, if
I weren't approved...
Craps..... So once again, I dialed the township office to have them tell me
that I would receive my permit in the mail...
Long story short, (yeah I know, a bit late for that,) the crew showed up and
within 3 days were cleaning up their mess, the deck was built and I still had
no permit. I thought if I'm not approved now, I'll have to go to court as I'm
NOT tearing the darn thing back down... Each time I called them I had written
down the person's name that I had spoken with and the exact words that they
told me each time... Even though that after 6 weeks, it was unbelievable that
they didn't make the time to come and inspect our place. At any rate, 2
weeks later, the permit showed up in the mail.. I was approved.... Yipee!
Thank goodness...
When I think back to all the phone calls, the paying of the fee, etc., to get
them to come and inspect the situation, and I'm still not sure that they EVER
did, heck, I probably could have built the darn deck, and never have said a
word.... As slow as they were, the deck would have been 20 years old
until they noticed that it had been built...
I think sometimes, the only reason they want you to purchase a permit, other
than the extra money for them, is to get a record of improvements, so they
don't forget to "hike" up your taxes every time you make your property a
little more valuable...
*****************************************
Excuses, or no excuses, it doesn't seem to matter anymore, but the gas is at
$3 a gallon in some places around me, here in Central Pennsylvania. I
hate to write that, I was so hoping that once they had gotten over $2.90 that
they would begin to go back down... Oh, I knew it would take awhile to get
back where they were just a month ago, probably all summer, but I really did
think that they would start back down...
I did find a decent, "piece" about high gasoline prices..... That makes
some sense... Here's a few lines from it, and then I'll give you the link to
read the rest... It IS very interesting.... Will it solve anything? Geez....
will anything at this point?
The government has no business stockpiling anything, including oil. But when
three socialist amigos like Senators Charles Schumer of New York, Barbara
Boxer of California and Harry Reid of Nevada all urged the Bush administration
recently to help ease gasoline prices by releasing oil from the Strategic
Petroleum Reserve (SPR), you know what’s up. These three are all facing the
voters come November, and they know from their many years in politics that
nothing agitates the boobeoisie and engenders conspiracy theories like high
gas prices.
Reid is "extremely concerned" and believes that gasoline prices in Nevada may
be going up because of "possible market manipulation"
and price gouging. "The big oil companies say it’s just a matter of supply and
demand.
That’s the same thing Enron said," Reid told the Las Vegas Review Journal. "I
don’t think we can take the word of the oil companies."
Philip Verleger, from the Institute for International Economics believes that
draining the SPR might lower prices 20 cents per gallon, plus another 10 cents
if the reserve were not replenished. Thus Mr. Reid would like to do just that
to give motorists some relief while he and his friends on capital hill start
their oil company–witch hunt. You’d think that Martha Stewart owned Exxon the
way he’s acting. Reid forgets that Bill Clinton tried that trick in 2000 and
the effect at the pump was negligible.
Of course, if the good Senator really wants to give
Nevada drivers some relief, why not suspend gasoline taxes? The federal tax on
gasoline is 18.4 cents per gallon. Then the State of Nevada, on top of that,
levies another
33.7 cents. That’s 52.1 cents a gallon going to the government. Thus residents
of the Silver State today pay the third highest gasoline tax in the nation –
behind only New York and Hawaii. Of course, Californians pay nearly as much as
Nevadans – over 50 cents per gallon.
Interestingly, the three Senators looking to drain the SPR for their political
gain are from states with the highest gasoline taxes, as well as the highest
gas prices in the nation.
(Click here for the rest of this article... It's pretty short so I won't take
you that long!)
Now this guy seems to make some sense and the taxes here, in Pennsylvania, are
near that of what they are in Nevada....
I'm at the point that I don't care how they bring them down, but bring them
down, one way or another...
I really think that there is a better way, and that is, putting a cap on just
how much profit the oil companies are allowed to make... I know that's more
government interference, and I AM TOTALLY against any kind of government
interference. However, they have already interfered with all kinds of our
personal rights. For a change, as the oil companies just charge whatever they
want, and we have no choice but to pay it, maybe they SHOULD be regulated like
the utilities companies... They must file for any kind of increase and PROVE
why the increase is necessary before they are allowed any kind of increase...
Maybe that's just what we need for these price gouging rats..
In the above article, he says that he is extremely concerned and believes that
gasoline prices in Nevada may be going up because of "possible market
manipulation" and price gouging. Duh!!!!! That isn't only happening in
Nevada buddy boy, but in all 50 states!!!! Wake up and smell the
roses!!!
Everyone has their various "cures and theories" of just what to do to help
bring down the cost of gasoline, but personally I think it's pretty easy...
Just make a conscious effort to use less gasoline... Combine trips... Take
less trips to the grocery store etc.. Make a list and shop only one day a
week. I know some folks who go out every single day to "pick up" something
that they need from the store...
Try to car pool or use public transportation..
I remember back before I was 20 years old, I worked at this tractor and
trailer shop and within 10 miles of me there were 3 other guys that worked
there as well.. The place was about 30 miles from were we lived so we would
all meet a a central point, about 3 miles from where I lived and each of us
would take a turn driving for a week. That way I'd only have to pay for
gasoline for one week out of every month.. But it wasn't just that. It was
only 25% or 1/4th of wear and tear on my car, oil changes, tires, etc. and it
worked out pretty good... Oh, once in a while, we would run into a snag as one
fellow might be asked to work overtime... However, sometimes that even worked
out as when the foreman began to know that we "carpooled" to work, and he
wanted one to work overtime, he would find work for all of us and we all ended
up getting overtime, which in those days was considered a privilege! That was
back when gasoline was costing us about 30 cents a gallon, but even then we
all found that it was a big savings for all of us... Besides that, we had
"company" on the long trips to and from work, and the travel time seemed to go
much faster... Now days it would even be a much bigger savings...
Sometimes, if you don't have anyone right where you work from your area,
you'll find by placing a small ad in the local paper that a lot of people work
near where you do that are on the same hours as you. Can you imagine all the
money you could save by taking turns to ride with say just 3 other people each
day? Not only would you be saving a "mint" but you would also be contributing
to the gasoline prices to come down just by not using as much... I know Betty
and I are watching how often we go out, and are making much more accurate
"need" lists to save us from "running" to the store so often.. Not just
to bring down the cost of gasoline, but to save ourselves those huge prices
per gallon also!
I swear if I could buy an all electric car, that I wouldn't have to worry
about people running over me, when I hit the highway, I'd buy one.... If
electric prices DID get too high, we could always invest in our own windmill!
If the state government would have allowed it, I would have already, years
ago, tapped the mighty Susquehanna River, that runs through our back yard, for
FREE electricity!
Free electricity, in the form of generating it from water, air and other
methods to solar cells I feel sure will be our future savior when it comes to
energy consumption.

I wish you could hear all the frogs and toads out in front of our house in the
old Erie Canal making their love calls.. It's almost deafening. They sound
like a zillion very large crickets chirping at the top of their lungs....
There really must be a passel of them in that old canal as they are quite a
chorus to hear... If you are standing by the canal you would not be able
to hear the person standing next to you and would have to yell.. However, if
you do make any kind of a sound, all of the toads and frogs within ear shot of
you will stop with their chirping immediately, and you wouldn't even know they
were there.. Don't make any more sounds though for a couple of minutes, and it
starts right back up again!
Click here for toads and frogs.. Listen to the first one, (American Toad,) as
these are what ours sounds like.

SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
Well, the postage rates have gone up and 2 cents on a regulars envelope is not
much difference...
That apparently is just a minor detail, as the larger pieces of mail have
REALLY increased! A 9 X 12" envelope that up 'til now I've used a lot of, was
63 cents for 2 ounces which just about covered all that I used them for. Now,
that same envelope with 2 ounces or under costs 97 cents! Yep, it went up a
whopping 34 cents! That's just the beginning of the ridiculous cost rises by
the post office this time... A flat rate priority envelope that just
last year went from $3.84 to $4.05, now has jumped up to an unbelievable
$4.60! I just sent out one yesterday. I used one of my $4.05 stamps that I
usually stock about 10 of as I used about 10 to 15 of them a month, and still
had to add an additional 55 cents! That's just the "tip of the iceberg" so to
speak.. Any kind of package or larger envelope that you send, you'd better
have checked at the post office the first time you mail it to determine the
proper postage you'll have to use...
I am making a lot of changes regarding the size of my envelope. A lot of
my 2 ounce 9 X 12s are going to go into some 6 X 9 Inch envelopes. I
hate to put a crease in some of my camera/ready circulars that I must send
out, but being that they are printed on my laser printer, it should not hurt
their quality.. It may be a hassle to handle with that crease, but hopefully
when placed in a folder, most of that will eventually disappear.
We must do a lot of different things that we are not used to doing to conserve
our postage costs... Of course some of what you can do immediately are
simple...
If you have never purchased a good digital postage scale yet, the good news is
that compared to when I bought my first one, they are relatively cheap, and
you can get a very good one for less that 40 bucks. These will save you
a lot of postage as when you are guessing as to put extra postage on your
mailing piece, you can find out for sure by weighing it. It should save you
enough to pay for it in a year's time.
I am also promoting and mailing more postage programs. I like the smaller ones
that everyone can afford.. I don't like the ones where you must send each
person an entire roll of stamps and the monitor a roll as well just to join
the darn thing... That's just too much to invest and I know that more
people will come into a more reasonably priced program... I have one
that I created last year that is really going strong and just today I received
another 6 orders... Everyone on the list you send $2 and 5 first class
stamps... For that the monitor, me, will send you a custom camera/ready copy
with your name and address on it and also send you a page of 30, 1 inch custom
camera/ready ads both printed with my laser printer. Simple, cheap, and easy
and paying enough to make it worth your while. I have taken in a lot of stamps
since I first started it...
I also have a couple of very small stamp programs, one on a small 3 by six
circular, where you can print 6 up on one sheet of 8½" X 11" paper, plus I
have one on 3" X 8½ circular, that you can print 3 up on a sheet, plus mail
either for almost no extra postage, especially the little 3 X 6 jobbie.
If you like samples of them, I don't have them up on the web yet, so just
email your request to me along with your name and address and I'll send you
samples of all of them.. Join the ones you like, start printing them, and
enjoy free postage of your own!

It's starting to get a bit late here in my home office so I'll wrap up this

Today's another beautiful
day, here in Central Pennsylvania... Sunny, and supposed to go up to
about 70 degrees.... Just Beautiful!
*****************************************
Today, weather wise, is pretty much a repeat of yesterday although last night
they were calling for a chance of frost! Hard to believe that we could get
frost at this time of the year but with the weather the way it's been, heck,
nothing surprises me anymore.
*****************************************
Yesterday, I spent the
entire day working on the back deck. I figured I sure couldn't get a nicer day
to work out doors.. I spent a few days off and on, all last week trying
different products to scrub down the deck so I could reseal it with water
seal. I didn't do the job last year so it was really filthy and needed a good
cleaning.. However, out of everything I tried, nothing seemed to work.. It was
a mess. I scrubbed my
butt off and it didn't look much different. Even after I tried to put some
sealer on, it still looked like heck..
I finally gave up and talked to John, Betty's son and asked him to bring up
his power washer which he did, yesterday morning.. After some instructions,
John left me on my own and headed on..
I started out and figured I'd do about maybe a third of the deck and then work
on it some today. Well,
as usual, once I got started I didn't want to stop and finally got it all
washed down late last evening.. Boy, I am definitely not used to physical
labor anymore. Once I got a bath and hit my recliner, I was out for the
evening.
After looking at it this morning with my first cup of coffee it was all worth
it as it does look like a new deck and will look much better with the new
sealer on it.... Hopefully
by tomorrow afternoon I can begin that job....
I put up a few pictures here that are sort of like before and after shots...
You still have to buy cleaner that the power washer applies, but it does do a
GREAT job....
If you got a deck up for this same job, don't even think about not doing it
without a power washer even if you have to rent one. Believe me, you'll be so
glad that you did. Even though it is work, it's one heck of a lot easier than
trying to scrub it by hand and using a hose... Not only will you break your
back, but you'll never get as good as the job you'll get with a power washer.
**************************************
Well, if you've been
reading this blog for awhile, you'll remember last year when I lost my entire
tomato patch, when the mighty Susquehanna River, that runs through our back
yard, came up high and wiped it out. At the time, I had about 13 plants that
had well over 150 green tomatoes on them... I tried to dig 'em up and hauled
them to higher ground. I even "planted" them temporarily in buckets, and
plastic storage containers, but it took over a week for the water to go down
far enough to replant them and in that time, they all but died. I did replant
them all, but lost them all.... Not even one survived... This has happened
more than once to me. I must plant them down by the river as our property is
full of trees and that's the only place where I have enough sunlight for
them...
Well, this year, I got another bright idea and I've planted only 3 plants that
I've put in large containers.... As we loose the sunlight on our deck because
of the trees getting leaves on them, I'll move them down to the yard beside
the river... At any rate, the containers are even large enough that I'll
be able to put tomato cages over the plants to hold them up properly. I'll
only have 3 plants but with extra tomato feed and extra care, they should out
produce my regular plants. If you look close to the left at the pictures of
them, you'll see that all of them have tomatoes on them already! One even has
5 fruits on it already! That's great for this time of the year... We should be
eating delicious home grown tomatoes by the end of this month!
***************************************
NOW, spring has finally
sprung... When the geese start showing up in our back yard with "little ones,"
its a sure sign that Spring is finally here... These two only have a brood of
3 small ones, but I've seen "families" with 14 goslings in them! That's a lot
of geese. Mom & Dad and the "kids" are just swimming up river checking things
out.. Everything is new to these little guys and they are taking it all in...
In a few days, they will "land"' and be in our back yard eating grass and also
bugs.... They'll have a good time for several weeks and I know we, in
the meantime will see many more families... Once the Kids start to get the
same color as they're parents and get about 3 quarters of their size, we'll
have to run them out of the yard. If we don't, we'll be "slip-sliding"
to the water, "if you know what I mean." Until then, we don't bother them
much... It gives them a chance to grow... When we start running them off, it
takes a couple of weeks to let them get it in their heads, that we don't want
them around anymore... It's actually a little sad, but it's maybe best that
they do get a little afraid of us before goose season comes around. We don't
hunt them but plenty of others have goose on their supper tables for a
while....
***************************************
Geez, now that gasoline is well over $3 bucks in a lot of places of the
country, a lot of folks are talking about high gas prices and now I'm starting
to hear, a lot, on television, about price gouging... Heck, I've been saying
that for over a year.... Finally someone is waking up... A colleague of mine
sent me an email, that I don't know that if it was his idea, or someone
else's, but it does sound like a good plan... Here it is:
THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT
WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.
This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his
engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas
prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read
this please.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign
that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!
I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it
might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just
laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt"
ourselves by refusing to buy gas.
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really
work. Please read on and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap.
Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think
that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take
aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.. not
sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take
action.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit
someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that
WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a
price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from
the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil
gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this
point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of
people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten
more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x
10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of
people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then
30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do
is send this to 10 people....
Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me
on this one.) :-)
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more
people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be
contacted within the next 8 days!!!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we
not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30
RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
I've done some radical things in my life and a LOT of them never worked out...
However, I am so angry with this gas price thing, I'm willing to try anything.
If you'd like to highlight, and copy the above to send to your friends go
ahead. It may be worth it... I know I've already checked them off my
list...(Exxon and Mobil, that is.) Hey, this thing is just dumb enough to do
some good... And like it says, even if you only send 10 out, and they do the
same, it will NOT take long to have a lot of folks doing the same thing...
IT is a proven fact that public opinion had changed a lot of things for the
better... And believe me, I've seen popular opinion even put people out of
business! If it takes something radical like this to make a change, I'm
up for it, how about you?

SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
If you are planning to get out any extra promotional mailings this month, try
and get them out before May 14th when the postage prices increases... Even if
you're only going to do 1,000, that's a savings of $40 bucks... I don't know
about you, but that's a good savings on just one mailing! Also, if you
do 2,000 that's even more....
It's time to send a couple of stamp programs along with each of your promo
mailings... I am in at least 3 and have been pushing 2 of them regularly...
I like the small ones where you can get 5 or 6 stamps.... That doesn't
sound like much but believe me, it sure adds up after awhile... This
past month alone, I took in more than 300 extra stamps.... That's a lot of
money worth of stamps... I never used to mess with stamp programs, but I'm
convinced that you can save a lot of money with them, now... If you like to
see what I'm pushing, send me a large, self addressed, stamped envelope, (Not
real large, just a regular #10 business envelope), and I'll send you samples
of what I'm using... Get started now as you'll need as many "extra free"
stamps as you can muster to help with the new postal rates... I'm planning on
getting out at least one extra bulk mailing by the 14th.... At least that's
what I'm shooting for! (Send your LSASE to: Chuck Rollason, PO Box 370,
Dauphin, PA 17018 and be sure to tell me what you want.)

It's starting to get a bit late here in my home office so I'll wrap up this
post for today, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
If a set of fine scales is arranged so that one scale is kept dark, and light
is allowed to fall on the other, the lighted scale will sink slowly. Light has
"weight." The pressure of light on the Earth's surface is calculated as two
pounds per square mile!

It was a beautiful sunny
day today and went up around 70 degrees.. Not too hot and not too cold...
Still an outstanding day here in central Pennsylvania.
****************************************
I'm still recuperating from Sunday when I spent the entire afternoon scrubbing
half of our back deck to prepare it for another coat of water proofing... Boy,
I can sure tell that I'm not at all used to doing physical stuff anymore...
That night, even though I only did half the deck, I felt like a train ran over
me.. John, Betty's son would have brought up his pressure washer for me, and
me, like a simpleton, figured that it wouldn't be that tough to do it by
hand... Now, just ask my shoulders and my broken back... I now think the
pressure washer would have been the way to go...
Oh well, that goes to prove that no matter how old you get, you don't always
get wiser and smarter... Not by a long shot, or a short shot for that matter,
either!
At any rate, after resting up a couple of days, and finally getting caught up
some here in the office, I hope to get back to that job very soon.
As today was the first of the month, all of the "end of the month" stuff that
I must do should have been done yesterday and wasn't... I was still finishing
all the OAMA related stuff,
the
Newsletter and the
Monthly Member Benefit
Directory, including writing all of the commission checks until late
today.. As a matter of fact most of the day and finally got it all to the post
office about 7 this evening...
At least that job's over until the end of this month... I like doing it, but
when you're really busy, it is hard to concentrate on just getting that one
job done, until it's over... Too many phone calls and other things to worry
about.. However, when it's done, there is a nice feeling of satisfaction
though, that just can't be beat.
**************************************
A lot of articles and expanded articles about this Cho guy who killed all
those young people and teacher's alike at Virginal Tech say that there
were a lot of warning signs that this dude was not rapped to tight and should
have been in a mental hospital but that the university had their "hands tied"
as a result of all the laws that protect student's rights.... There it
is again, and I've been saying it for years..... and that is that we have TOO
many laws in this country... We had a whole lot less trouble when we had a
whole lot fewer laws to contend with...
Back then, and that really wasn't too long ago, if someone acted like they
were nuts, and were just a plain, "pain in the ass" to people around them,
like this idiot "stalking" girls on line and in real time, they would have put
the numbskull away until he acted and looked like he was in his right mind, if
he ever got that way again...
Now you can't do that, they just isolate him from the rest of the students,
and some of the instructors even private tutored him, when their other
students threatened not to attend class with this weird-do. Well, we can all
see now that that sort of attitude didn't work at all on this guy... and
probably never would have... The only thing he did do that was right, was to
blow out his own brains and saved all of the families of the folks he
destroyed, the trouble of going though a whole bunch of court cases with all
free attorneys trying to keep the imbecile alive... Yes, he did do that part
right... What gets me is that too many who think like him and want to
"end it all", always think that they must take a bunch of innocent folks with
them before they take their own life...
If they want to do it right, let the other folks alone and don't ruin lots and
lots of families lives by messing around and taking people with them to
satisfy their warped brains...
Oh well, I guess we can all look back after the fact with all kinds of cures
for people like this... Oh excuse me, with animals like this...
Makes you wonder how anyone can act like this and still reside in the human
race, doesn't it?
Well, here's another one for the books as we are talking about animals:
A judge Tuesday set bail at $1 million each for a father
and his live-in girlfriend charged with abetting second-degree murder in the
death of a 10-year-old girl scalded to death on Friday in Blaine.
Anoka County District judge Ellen Mass also ordered Jason Gonsioroski, 26, and
Julie Ann Meier, 24, to have no contact with their other three children who
are in foster care.
Both suspects are being held in the Anoka County jail. Their next court
appearance is at 1 p.m on Aug. 9.
They are charged in connection with the death of Gonsioroski’s daughter,
Jordan Amber Gonsioroski.
The Anoka County coroner said Jordan was probably unconscious or in some
altered state when she was partly submerged into water so hot it blistered her
skin late Friday night at her father’s home, County Sheriff Bruce Andersohn
said Monday.
According to court records, Jordan’s injuries weren’t the first she’d
suffered.
She was sexually assaulted by her mother’s boyfriend when Jordan was 8 and
lived with them in Braham, Minn., according to Isanti County court records, On
Monday, Jason Gonsioroski and Meier were charged with abetting second-degree
murder while committing child neglect or endangerment.
More than 70 percent of Jordan’s body was covered with
second-degree burns.
The coroner also said the girl had acute bruises on the front and back of her
head and an acute scratch near her upper chest and neck.
I'm not even sure we can call people like these animals without insulting
animals world wide.... Even animals act better than people like these... Maybe
we can classify them as ghouls. Yes, I think that may be a better description
of them..
Like I've said for years, not only should they get the death penalty but they
should be put to death in the same manner that they did it to his daughter!
And I mean that! And even at that, they will still have it better than the
little girl as they will at least know why they are being punished like that..
The little girl probably had no idea why anyone would do this to her, let
alone her father!
Talk about a sick bunch out there... It's like I always say, you must protect
yourself and your family, as there are a lot of sicko's out there who are
capable of doing anything... Watch out for your own, and your neighbors
as we need each other as the world gets more and more of these sick people
walking around in it...
As I mentioned before, I remember when it was a big deal for someone to get
killed in a robbery or something similar when I was young in the Harrisburg,
PA area.... We had a fellow that we all knew, as he was owner of an auto
garage and was killed by 2 fellow's "passing through" for less than $4 that he
had in his pocket and he was the talk of the town for over a year...
Now, it's not unusual to pick up the Harrisburg paper and see that 2 people
were killed before lunch! Not always grown ups either, but small
children who just happened to get in the way of a bullet that was intended for
someone who copped out on a drug deal or something just as stupid!
Yes, I hate to talk like a "doom and gloomer", but it is a fact, and one that
I hate.. The unfortunate thing is that our younger generations will
never know any different..
Now, you'd think with about 1,000% more laws on the books, than there were
when I was a young fellow, that it would be better these days instead of
worse, wouldn't you? What does that tell you about all of the lawyers and all
the "law" makers?
I'll let that one for you to ponder.

SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
I know that the postage rates are going up on May 14th and it's a bummer,
especially if that's one of the main ways that you make your living, through
the good ole' U.S. Mails...
However, that's the nice thing about having your own business.
When I had a "brick and mortar" garage and an auto parts store across the
street from that, I needed a piece of diagnostic equipment for my garage that
cost, at the time, about $8,000. What I did at the time, was increase my
hours an extra 1 hour per day and made more income until the equipment was
paid for..
You can do the same thing with your own home business..
Say you are mailing out 100 pieces of promotional material per day. Why not
start to mail out 150 pieces a day, even with the postage increase? No,
it's not as stupid as it sounds... Yes, it will be more work for you, but it
will also bring you in more business and make you even more money from your
home business... Sounds too simple to be true, but that's what I'm doing and
believe me, it works! Think that one over for awhile, and then ACT
on it! You'd be surprised just how much you can overcome these set backs of
higher charges even without increasing your products or services rates>>>>>>

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
The Greek philosopher Thales (624-546 B.C.) is the first man in history to ask
the question "Of what is the Universe made?" and to answer without introducing
gods or demons. In later centuries, when the Greeks made up lists of the
"seven wise men," Thales invariable was placed first!
