Wow! It's hard to believe a week has slipped by and I haven't put up more updates here...  I must try to rectify that... I promise..
It was a cloudy but otherwise beautiful day here today in Central Pennsylvania. The temps were in the high 70s and humidity wasn't bad at all...  Just enough that we didn't have to turn the air conditioners on. I was just out on the back deck until it got too dark to work..  I didn't mind the dark, as I was working on my laptop, as much as I did the skeeters, as they were starting to eat me alive, and I thought I'd better come in here to the office to finish out the day...
I spent about 2 hours out there trying to get a decent stock ticker that I could download and put on one of my web pages. I found one that I liked pretty good and I downloaded this program and uploaded that program to the server and put this and that into the html code and I still couldn't get the darn thing to work right. So after two wasted hours I'm back to square one...  Heck I should have just did some writing here on my blog and I'd be done with it now.. However, if I did that, I wouldn't be enjoying updating it now.. Yes, I do like to write in this blog. You wouldn't believe it as I don't get it uploaded as much as I should and as much as I want to..  Oh well, I'll try to make more time for it. After all, I must take some time once and awhile to relax and enjoy myself as well as trying to get work done all the time...
*********************************
A heck of a lot has happened over the past week, it's hard to know where to begin... Well, for starters, little Paris is out of the "big house" and back on the streets... Or I should say, back at her mansion, but apparently that's only temporary as I understand that to celebrate her release she is going to move into a new mansion!
This is after she announced that she learned so much in prison. One thing was more about regular people...  Yeah, Paris, we all have mansions, just like you...  When I get depressed I always move to a new mansion to bring me out of my doldrums, that's for sure...
Well, she only spent a little less than half the time somewhere near or around the prison so it really did surprise me and I'll have to admit that I was wrong... I was sure she would be out in a few days...
I've heard of people in the "big house" getting religion already to help them face their problems and help them face the hard time that they must serve. Apparently religion has helped many a "hard timer" get through his time without losing his mind.
Yes, and Paris went the same way. All the time she spent in jail, she too, found religion. She said it has changed her life.. I don't know how, but I'm sure that Paris really thinks it has.. Maybe she read that it was the thing to do when you are in prison and that it's HOT!
At any rate, NBC, dropped out of the million dollar deal to be the first to interview Paris when she was released. I think probably because they were ashamed of themselves..  That was a very stupid move on their part for sure.....
So, who else but Larry King, carried the banner and got the interview with Paris...  I listened to some of it, until I just could not stand the boredom any more and had to switch the channel to something else...
I'm afraid that Paris' life is just not that interesting to me. Beyond her getting special treatment from the system as she is some kind of celebrity, I'm not sure how just yet, and all of them get special treatment far and beyond what us peons get, she just happened along at the right time when it hit me that I had to write about how money and fame WILL buy you anything, and especially happiness..  I've heard all my life that money will not buy happiness.... and that's just a bunch of bull..
I know that if I had to go to jail or not to go to jail, I would be a lot happier if I didn't have to..
It's like Lindsey Lohan a few weeks ago smacked up her Mercedes and hit a curb. Besides being drunk, a small, "usable" (whatever that means), amount of a substance thought to be cocaine was also found in the car during a search, they added. (Yeah, like the cops out their are too stupid to know if that "substance" was coke or not!)
The actress, who spent time in a rehabilitation center in January, was arrested but NOT held in custody.
Now, let's just stop right there, if this 20 year old wasn't rich and famous, do you think that she would have been arrested and taken directly to jail? Not passing GO and not collecting $200? Darn right she would have, just like if it was you or I...
Two other people were also in the car with Lohan when the incident occurred, though no other vehicles were involved, police said.  Geez..... If I were one of the policeman who was there, I'd be ashamed of myself....  I'd be ashamed to say that we left someone who was driving drunk and was in possession of cocaine loose without arresting her and taking her to the police station...  What a ball of crap...  Yeah, don't tell me that money don't buy happiness....  Like I said earlier, I know, I'd be happier out of jail, than I'd be in jail and that's a fact!
She's been caught drunk so many times that if that would be you or I, we'd be in jail and probably wouldn't see daylight for a long, long time!
I don't know how the law is where you are, but if you are driving and drinking here in Pennsylvania, the cops take you right to jail.....
***********************************
Gasoline has went down in our area just a few cents and is hanging in the high two dollars.... closer to three bucks really. Not, at the moment, going up or down.....  I'm sure they could be putting it down, but I think the gas stations are waiting for it to go back up again. They just HATE to lower the price of gasoline... When it starts to go up, they jump up to 10¢ a day, but I never see it going down that fast...  They, the big oil companies don't even bother to make excuses anymore....  They just sit back and get fatter, and fatter....  I would just love to see their ship spring a leak and they start to sink..... I'm sure no one would toss them a life raft, that's for sure.
I hope they start making real progress on the new discoveries like making sea water burn etc, and really put a hurting on our big, hoggish, oil companies, and the Arabs that just love to "stick it to us." Yep, now that would be a very nice Christmas present for us all!
*************************************
You can tell that Summer has finally arrived here in Central Pennsylvania as the very first day of Summer, officially, our tiger lilies along the bank, toward the river, started to bloom. They grow wild, but boy are they ever pretty....  I just wish that they would last longer before they lose their posies and stop blooming again until next year.
I took one picture standing back a bit to show you that they are covering most of the bank toward the river. Then I took a second picture, up, much closer to give you a better idea of just how beautiful they are...  Yes, I don't care what we create as humans, but will never be able to create things any more beautiful than mother nature has.
The only thing with mother nature is, all of the insects....
But I'll have to dig out some of my insect pictures for another post...
To be honest with you, I think that a lot of insects, really up close, are actually beautiful... It's just that they are so darn ugly that most of them, really "creep me out!"
That's really why I can't understand that I like lobster tails and shrimp so much... Heck let's face it, all they really are, are sea bugs! Just a big bunch of insects that happen to live in the ocean. Yikes, it's really something what we put in our bodies, isn't it? The odd thing is, that they are actually good for us. At least most of them are....
Sometimes it some of the stuff that we eat them with that are NOT good for us, like that delicious butter that we dip the lobster in, Um.... Ummmmmm...  That sure as heck isn't good for us, but heck the sea bugs are, as they are chocked full of protein, but then so are earthworms and ants too.... Hmmmmmm....
Maybe I'd better start rethinking these darn sea bugs.......
************************************
SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
Those of you that have your own home businesses, and to those of you who would like to have them, here is a GREAT little tip about a program that should really be able to make you a VERY nice monthly commission check...
I like it so much that not only have I joined, but I've placed Betty in it as well...  Now, Betty doesn't do anything to work the programs other than help me with mailings etc., but this program is being promoted with such ease, she won't have to work it. All I'll have to do is mail some postcards out to prospects in her name...
All of the "selling" of the program is done by a guy that runs a downline builder for the program... and get this, this guy is just an average Joe... He's a coal miner that works in West Virginia...
All you have to do is mail post cards. The prospect calls a toll FREE 800 number to listen to a 3 minute message that explains the program. Then they let their name, phone number and a good time for Milton to call them back...  I called one night and Milton called me the next morning before he went to work in the mines...
NOW get this, the program is only a $12 a month program! That's right, hard to believe, but this small $12 a month program can pay, with a 6 X 7 matrix $294,915.00 a month! Nope, that's NOT a misprint....  It's hard to believe that you could make that much from a small $12 program but it is possible as I have studied and restudied the matrix and payout structure and I am VERY impressed. Believe me, it takes a lot these days to impress me.. Only 6 people in your first level puts you at "break even>"
Milton has started a downline builder where he calls all of the prospects that you get for him by mailing your postcards and signs them into the program at no cost to you!
Milton tells me that he's well on his way to working his way out of the coal mines and by golly I've jumped on his "band wagon" as I really believe him!
Milton will convince you as well... Just call and talk to him..
For the 3 minute call to hear Milton talk about the program call this toll free number any time of the day: 1-800-242-0363 and extension 8484. When you let your message, give him my name and ID number Chuck Rollason - #181
You can sign up right now under me by going to my website at: http://chucks.jerkydirect.com
You can also see Milton's web site and hear him there as well by clicking here: www.digcoal.com
These days, 12 bucks a month is almost nothing..  2 packs of cigarettes? 3 gallons of gas? A couple of cups of coffee at Starbucks?...
Put $12 bucks a month to work for you and join me build a very nice commission check by Christmas....  Yes, I figure by Christmas, if we all start now, we should have a pretty darn good monthly commission check coming in!
Email me and let me know if you join....  I want to make sure you get off to a good start...
OH! There is one thing that I haven't mentioned as of yet... I have not received any supplies to begin promoting this program as of yet...  I WILL be promoting this program VERY heavily. I will be investing a lot of time and money in printing and postage... If you want to get up as close to me as possible, then join this program NOW and get my "spill over"... You have a good chance of getting on my first level...  I have 5 positions left...  Betty is in one.
Join NOW and get a jump on this thing...  Call Milton.... Check out his site...  Take the time for this one as it will be worth it to you.... Believe me!

Another fantastic day here in Central Pennsylvania. Low humidity and fairly low temperatures. Just one beautiful day.
***********************************
Paris Hilton gets her "get out of Jail Card" tomorrow, already... Boy, those 40 some days went awfully fast, didn't they? Yes, I know she only spent 20 and actually not many of those, if any, were actually in the cell that she was assigned to.
It's reported that NBC has offered her 1 million dollars to be able to interview her first after she leaves jail. Now, earlier this evening, I heard that they "pulled" that offer, so I'm not sure if that's true or not...
Well, lets face it, if anyone needs another million dollars, it's the Hilton family, right? Yeah right!
She was originally sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. Then she was released almost immediately to electronically monitored house arrest, saying that she had an undisclosed medical condition and that she would be better off to "serve" her time at home, in her mansion.
The next day, her sentencing judge, who had specifically barred Hilton from house arrest, ordered her to court and returned her back to jail, or that was what we were led to believe....
Actually she did go back to the jail for a few minutes and was then carted off to an un-named hospital for care and evaluation. I'm not sure how long she was there, but at least several days and then she was returned to the regular jail house, but NOT to her cell. She went to the other end of the complex to the hospital ward as she was so distraught they had to keep her under surveillance.
I'm really not sure if she EVER spent any time in the jail cell that was originally assigned to her and I'm sure we'll probably NEVER find out.
Although her sentence was for 45 days, authorities have said all along that with time off for good behavior and because of crowded jail conditions Hilton was likely to serve only 23 days. Tuesday is supposed to mark the 24th day since she "surrendered" following an appearance at the MTV Movie Awards..
You know what gets me.....    "Time off for good behavior." What behavior? She probably didn't even spend any time in her cell. How could she misbehave?
As far as I'm concerned, it's just another way of saying that we have a rich girl here and we're going to let her go back home to her mansion.
Heck, I really don't blame them... She's more darn trouble than she's worth! The Hospital facility that she was spending most of the time in when she WAS in the jail complex was costing them over $1,000 a day to keep her in it opposed to the $99 a day for the average prisoner that actually spent their "time" in the jail cell where they were supposed to be..  You know, the people who are NOT rich and famous.
Yeah, if I was them, and she was costing me 10 times more than the average prisoner, I'd sent her butt home as well...
They may as well give her driver's license back and let her drive any way she wants to... They're doing that now, they just don't openly admit to it. It would be cheaper and a heck of a lot less trouble to just assign her a police escort every time she wants to drive somewhere to keep her from running into and over people, pets, and children.
Yes, poor Paris, is ready to get out of "Jail" (Ha!), and go back home to her quaint, little, mansion.  (That's good for all involved!)  After all, this entire fiasco did nothing more than bring her more fame than she even had before... Who else have you ever heard of NBC offering $1 million dollars to for an interview?
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Hugh Hefner from "Playboy Magazine", has offered her a million dollars as well to pose nude. Yeah, I'm sure the people would pay to buy that magazine to see Paris nude when they can see her do much more than that on the Internet for FREE!!!  Is the Paris saga over? I'm sure it's NOT!
***********************************
Betty's grandson and his wife stopped in at our cottage the other day to let their car here while they took a trip with some others to Atlantic City for some kind of Police seminar. Well, it turned out that on the way down to our place form upstate Pennsylvania, where Mike is a policeman, that they had car trouble and they had to stop and pick up a car at
Mike's sister's, Betty's granddaughter, and drive that one here...  It's a Mustang "muscle" car. A convertible, "rag top", whatever....  Mike said before he left, there's 3/4 of a tank of gas in it, go ahead and run it...
Well, being from the old school I know that if I "run" someone else's car, sure enough something will happen to it an I'll end up having to pay for something that I can not afford...
It is certainly a very nice looking car and as I looked at it the last day it was here, I said to Betty, what the heck, let's at least take it for a spin down to the post office.  It is a 5 speed, standard transmission and boy it really winds up fast...  It's practically new with only 14,000 miles on it and it handled just fine... The only real problem for us is that's its too close to the ground... With my bad hip, I need a "shoe horn" to get into the darn thing and Betty doesn't bend the way she used to either, so I guess we're better off with our Jeep Cherokee.  Now that is just about the right height and we can step right into that..  You can see the Jeep in the background in the pictures...
I think I would have enjoyed a car like this much more say about 30 years ago...  5 speed, stick.... heck I don't even like sticks anymore... I like a good shifting automatic transmission now days....  Yes, a car such as this would be wasted on a guy like me.  I don't even have to mention about what Betty thinks about it... All I heard out of her is yes, it rides nice, but let's just make sure we keep the Jeep!
Actually the only car that I've seen lately that REALLY turns me on, besides a Hummer is the new Jeep Commando and that kind of looks a lot like a smaller Hummer....
However, I'd never buy another one like that.... From now on, I'm going with practicality. If I buy another car, it will either be a hybrid or an all electric car...  I only say that as I don't think that I'll live long enough to see them make practical solar cars.
However, I may live long enough to see them manufacture that car that runs on water....  That's what I NOW consider cool... Not the rag top Mustang above.....
Wow! Guess I am getting old!
************************************
SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
Those of you that are thinking about a home mail order business keep in mind that if you will be dealing in mail order programs and MLM programs, you'll need some very small programs to develop a nice "cash flow" for you... It's nice getting those bigger monthly commission checks from your MLM programs, but you need money coming in every day to operate a home business. Those smaller MLM and mail order programs will supply this much needed "cash flow" to assure you success with your home based mail order business..  Study the offers on this site and click to my home site for more small offers at: www.homebucks.com
I know that postage just went up again. Believe me I do, as I mail every day and send out bulks mails at least once a week, but keep your chin up and keep mailing..  Postage will be your biggest expense even above your printing and mailing of circulars, buying and renting mailing lists, and anything else that pertains to your home business.  Nothing beats a very good mailing list for that reason... Start to build your own as soon as you begin your own business, as that will become the "life blood" of your business.
Buy good mailing list software as this will become one of your most important software buys for your business.
If you don't know which the best are, drop me an email and ask... I've been using the same software for my mailing lists for the last 18 years...  It took me a few years to find out which was the best for what I do and for my home business..
I know you can keep mailing lists in MS Word or MS Excel OR even MS Access, but it's best to have a software program for the specific business of managing mailing lists....
****************************************
Oh! One more thing I wanted to comment on... President Bush apparently put the kibosh  again on the Stem Cell Research on embryonic stem cells.
I just wonder if President Bush would have a different attitude about this research if someone very close to him, like his children or his mom and dad had a horrible disease or malady that this kind of research would benefit them.
I just really can't understand the screwing around with something that would be of so much benefit to Americans and people of the world just because it involves some human cells...  Grow up, President Bush, and let the medical people do their work, to make life better for us! Quit screwing around and being foolish about something that could provide so much benefit to so many. Don't wait until YOUR family needs it!!!
*********************************************
Well, it's getting really late here on a Friday and I've already missed my favorite TV program, Numbers, at 10 so I'd better close up here for this time. Yes, I do have television on my computer, but I really can't write here and watch that kind of program at the same time... Actually to work at my computer and have TV on at the same time, it works best if you listen to a News program...  I have MSNBC on a lot and that's probably why I like it.
For right now, I'm going to wrap it up, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can! Okay?)
***********************************************
Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Irving Berlin wrote his patriotic masterpiece, "God Bless America," for the Ziegfeld Follies. But after finishing it, he withdrew the song because he decided it didn't belong in a lavish girl show. It was not publicly performed until twenty years later, when Kate Smith introduced it, on radio, on Armistice Day 1938!

Another nice, but very warm day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. Yep, a real beauty... We're supposed to see an even hotter day with more humidity tomorrow. Right now, I'm sitting on the deck here on Sunday evening watching the mighty Susquehanna River. The current is slow and the local geese are taking advantage of it by traveling from our yard and then up river to the neighbor's yard and so on..  Their "kids" are really getting big now, and I'd say they are about 3 fourths the size of mom and dad. They are starting to get a lot braver now so they don't run off right away as soon as they notice me or if I make some noise.
***********************************
Speaking of local animals we've actually seen quite a menagerie around these parts the last few days...  Yesterday, Betty came into my office and looked out our front door and asked me what the heck that "clump" was across our lane on the other side near the old Erie Canal.
Lately, the guy above us has been hauling, dump trucks a full of dirt and rocks and I said that it must have been a rock that rolled off the truck and landed beside the road...  But then, wait a minute, the "rock" moved a bit. I went and grabbed my binoculars and looked through them and sure enough it was NOT a rock. But it WAS a huge turtle. I don't think I've ever seen a regular turtle that big. I've seen some "snappers" that big, but this one looks like a regular box turtle. I'm not sure what kind for sure it is as I haven't had time to search it out on the web yet. If you know, email me and we'll both know.
The water in the canal is drying up and the turtle came out of the canal, as you can see all the mud on him, and I'm pretty sure that he was headed for the river. He has to go through our yard to reach it. Look at the yard stick I laid down beside him to give you an idea just how big he was...  He's well over 2 feet long, and well over a foot wide! That's a lot of turtle soup, for those who like turtle soup.
At one time I may have killed and butchered it, but no more... I figure this turtle is probably close to a hundred years old by the size of him and the way he looks...  He, or she, is sure a golden oldie and if it has managed all of these years to live this long, I'm sure as heck not going to be the one to put it down. No way, and that's for sure...
The very next morning Betty walked into the office and said to me, what's that out in the middle of the lane, looks like a big bird I said. Of course I hadn't seen the entire size of the thing. Then it started to move and stretched out over half the width of the lane. It was a VERY large Black Snake!
I ran to get my camera, but it was moving too fast and was down into the old Erie Canal until I reached the spot where it had moved off the road...  Wow, it seems like every time Betty walks into the office she looks out and notice's something...  She said to me, "Don't you ever look out the door window?" Well, apparently I don't look out as much as I thought I did or I would have missed both of those animals...
Oops... It's now dark, here on the deck and the skeeters are starting to eat me alive, so I think I'll move into the office.
Wow, that's better, I can see the keyboard again.
At any rate the animals are on the move. Another thing I've noticed around here this year as that we seem to have more spiders than usual. There are so many of them they seem like they're coming out of the "woodwork!" Outside and inside...
I must get down in our basement as I figure that a lot of my problem of them being inside may be down there.. We have a dirt basement as it's not finished. It's not worth finishing as when the water comes up every couple of years or so, it fills the basement with water so we really don't keep anything down there....
The old man that used to own this place before us had a gas furnace that was hanging from the floor of the living room, but we disconnected and replaced that with a stoker stove upstairs.  Now, the only thing that's in the basement is the top of our water well. The top of the well casing where the pipe goes in is sealed, so even if the water does go above that, it won't hurt anything. However, when that does happen, we do take it apart and "shock" the well. What that amounts to is dumping a gallon of Clorox down the well and rinsing the pipes...  Then of course you must run the water for a couple of days before using it, and we always have the water tested to make sure that it's safe and has no harmful germs or bacteria in it.. We don't drink it anyway. It's supposed to be safe alright, but we don't take any chances and use bottled water only for drinking and cooking...
At any rate, I hope to get rid a lot of the spiders by cleaning them out of the basement...  Another job for this week if I can get the time...

I hope you've been paying attention as President Bush has been trying his best to hurry a bill along in congress that will create amnesty for over 12,000,000, (that's 12 million), illegal people that are camping out, here in the good old U.S. of A.
I have no idea what the heck the president is thinking about but all I can say is that he sure as heck is not looking out for us, the people who ARE the United States and the ones who have worked to make our great nation what it is today...
The people are already crooks as well as criminals as they have snuck over the boarder and settled in here like they own the place. What the heck would make anyone think that they are going to be law abiding citizens if they are automatically made into legal Americans?  What the heck is that story? That's like saying, well we know that Mr. John Doe has robbed the National Bank, so instead of putting his butt in jail, where he belongs, incidentally, lets just give him the money that he took. Maybe if we do this, he'll become a law abiding citizen!
I thought the the president and the folks who are supporting this amnesty bill are educated people? Apparently they are not.  Their thinking is so screwed up, they sure as heck should NOT be holding a public office, let along senators, representative, and PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!
These folks have  been in politics just too darn long if they can look at this situation and even think a bill like that would solve anything...  They, the Mexicans and others are now POURING across the boarders, as they are so sure that the president will get this asinine bill through and passed and to be frank with you, I'm starting to worry about it myself.
No one seems to be doing anything at all to put the kibosh to this idiotic bill...  I've been writing to my congressmen telling them that I do NOT want this bill passed, but I wonder how many others are even taking the time to express their opinion to someone that matters...????
If they are, honestly, I'm not hearing about it on the news... All I hear is that so and so and so and so are voting with the president and so and so are thinking that they might vote for it, but it will have to be altered a bit.... Altered my foot.....  Send 'em back where they came from... Get them out of the U.S.A. They are here illegally, and should not have ANY rights except the option to go home or to go to jail. Do not pass go, and sure as heck, do not collect $200 dollars!!!
Here's a great article by reporter George Putnam about Bush's bill being a complete fraud!
"One only has to examine bill number 1348 to agree with my good friend, Dr. Thomas Sowell, African-American professor at Stanford University, who says, "This current immigration bill, and the arguments made for it, has fraud written all over it!!!"
Click here for the complete small article. (George Bush supports Fraud!)
Please, Please, take some time and write to your congressmen and let them know we will not stand for this miscarriage of justice!!!
If you aren't sure who your elected officials are, congressmen, etc, click here to find their emails quickly and jot them off a note. Elected Officials
Please don't put it off, and do it immediately, we REALLY don't have much time left, they may vote the bill in today or tomorrow... Don't go down without letting them know that YOU will not stand for it!!!!  PLEASE!!!!  If you have already written them, write them again... I'm going to....  If they hear it often enough, maybe it will sink in even their thick heads!!!
************************************
I just love my old time magazines that I subscribe to like the "Good Old Days" and was reading an article in one just the other day about this 92 year old woman who was talking about when she was a school teacher in 1935 and took a summer job working at a combination soda fountain and restaurant in a hotel in North Dakota.
She said that many of the railroad men used to come in for their complete steak dinner -- at $2. And she said she often got a tip of 5 cents.. Not Bad, she said!!!
Hmmmmm....   I started to think right away... Don't know what it is but as soon as I hear some numbers they jump into my brain and I start to work with them.
One of my pet peeves is when you go into a restaurant and if your bill is over say, $25 they automatically add the tip right to your bill and to your credit card...  Some places are as high as 15% and some are even higher than that....  That really rocks my cradle as I don't like someone to tell me how much I must pay a tip for. Especially if I didn't like the food or service... I like the option of leaving and "giving" what I want to... Heck, even if it's nothing... It's a tip for goodness sake....  and don't tell me that the waiters and waitresses depend on that for their wages as they should not have to... That's their bosses responsibility to see that they are paid properly, not mine....  A tip was originally designed as something extra to let the attendant know that they did a good job and that you appreciate it so much that you are going to give them something extra to prove it.... Your responsibility is not to make up the difference of what they think they should be earning... That should be squared away when they are hired and NOT at my expense...
Anyway, back to the story...  Let's look at this story....  The lady said that once in awhile she'd get a 5 cent tip and thought that that was great... Well, it was as 5 cents went a lot further in 1935 that's for sure...  But figure it out, percentage wise...  A 5 cent tip on a bill of $2 dollars is 2 1/2 percent!!!  Two and a half percent and she thought that she was really doing well...  and she probably was...  Now let's compare it to today's tip... We won't go any higher, let's just say 15%.  If she would have received 15% tip back then on a $2 meal she would have received 30 cents! Now with the entire steak dinner costing $2.00 how many tips do you think that she would have gotten had her customers thought that they should be leaving a 15% tip... NONE if any...  Oh maybe a real high ranking railroad man once in awhile would have been able to do it, but the average Joe, the kind she was dealing with, no way would they have ever left her that size of a tip!
Just something to think about...
When we as customers are supposed to let enough extra money to pay a person's wages, I think that industry, (the food/restaurant business), is just way too out of hand....  No other business expects you to do that, why do they get away with it?
Don't tell me that they'd have to put the food prices up.. so what? At least you'd know that from the get-go.....  Heck when two people are eating even at a lousy Red Lobster and the bill is almost 60 bucks, it's seems to me that they should be able to "scrape" enough money out of that bill to pay the waitress and/or the waiter's salaries!!!  That's my opinion anyway...
*******************************
Lot's more to "talk" about but it's getting late and I do have a few more things that need to be done before I wrap it up for this evening. So, for me, I'm outta here, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can! Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Polaris, in the tail of the Little Bear constellation, is the closest visible star to true north and this is referred to as the North Star. By about 2100 A.D., the wobble of the Earth's axis will slowly begin pointing the North Pole away from Polaris. By the year 14,000 A.D., the new North Star will be Vega!!!

It was a beautiful nice day here in central Pennsylvania after a chilly day yesterday..  We're supposed to get "screaming" hot weather, here, over the weekend though.
************************************
Yes, I know, Paris is still in the "slammer," or is she?  Not really, as we are not always getting the whole story. It seems that she was just "delivered" back to the women's prison where she originally reported to "serve" her sentence. Where was she? She was in another place, actually it was supposed to be a hospital. Yes, Paris was serving her time in a hospital! You know, one of those places where you have nurses and staff waiting on you hand and foot, serving your food to your bed on a tray, probably similar to Paris' home!
Well, you know how poor little Paris was so distraught by having to go back to jail. Now that she's back to where she is supposed to serve her "time" she'll be doing real time, right?
Well, not really, as Paris is NOT in her cell but in another part of the prison, actually at the far end of the place where they have the medical department, as she still has her mystery medical problems...  I think it's called something like, I'M AFRAID OF JAIL! Yep, actually where she's being held it cost the county almost $1100 dollars a day rather than just the usual $98 dollars a day that it runs for the average prisoner. Oh well, I think that's about as close as we're going to see little Paris actually spending any kind of time in jail..  In the jail house, but not "really" IN jail... Like I said, she will NEVER do her time... Not like you or I would have to do time if we were convicted of anything..
She may just learn something for all this mess besides getting more exposure in the press than she our her parents could ever afford. Hopefully she'll learn that when they suspend your driver's license, it means that you are not allowed to drive your car until your driving privileges are returned! Even if you ARE Paris Hilton and can buy and sell almost any one in North America! Let's hope so.... I sure as heck don't want to be driving on the same street as someone who is all doped up or drunk that's too dumb to know that or too darn conceited to think that she must obey laws like the rest of us do...  I can get into enough trouble without worrying if this woman is going to run into me or cause an accident that I cannot get away from. You know like that other "celebrity" "Brandy"...... The one who actually killed someone and barely got a scratch herself...
Brandy, 27, was not arrested and she has not been charged with a crime. (But read what actually happened:
The accident happened at 10:30 a.m.
on Dec. 30, 2006, on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. Brandy was driving her
2007 Land Rover at 65 mph and did not notice that cars in front of her had slowed considerably, law enforcement sources said.
Brandy's vehicle struck a 2005 Toyota, according to them. The Toyota then hit a
1989 Toyota. The 2005 Toyota then slid sideways and hit the center divider. As the 2005 Toyota came to a halt, it was struck by a 1988 Acura.
The driver of the 2005 Toyota, Awatef Aboudihaj, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and she died the next day. Aboudihaj, a 38-year-old married mother of one, was a Los Angeles resident.
Now, I don't know about you, but it sure looks to me that the entire accident was her fault..  Of course it was an accident. You very rarely hear of anyone actually PLANNING on using their vehicle to kill someone... That does NOT make her innocent of anything!
Anyone else that I have EVER read about that was the cause of an accident was charged with some kind of crime from vehicular homicide to plain murder..
In our area we have a young boy that was sentenced to over 60 years in prison because he drank and had an accident that caused others in his car to die. Now, of course he didn't plan on killing those other kids, it was an ACCIDENT, and oh yes, he's very sorry about it too. However they deemed that it WAS his fault and that he must pay for it.
Personally, I think they over did it and gave him too big of a punishment. I may have felt differently if one of the kids that were killed belonged to me, but as I see it, this kid shouldn't spend literally the rest of his life in jail for one stupid misjudgment. An Accident. But I feel that he SHOULD have been punished... Just like this Brandy woman should be punished...
I'm sure she's sorry, and I'm sure she didn't plan for any of it to happen. But still, it was her negligence that caused the woman to lose her life..
The kid above, that I was writing about was arrested at the hospital where he landed and never got back out to see daylight until his trial and then of course went straight to jail, did not collect $200, did not pass go, but went directly to jail...
Now Brandy, she didn't even get charged with anything!!!  What the heck is going on here? Are you going to tell me that she is not getting preferential treatment because she is a singing star?  Darn right she is...  YOU do what she did and I want to see you walk away and go home...  Yeah right.......   Don't EVER tell me that the rich and famous are treated the same as all of us because they are NOT....  It happens all the time, every day somewhere in this country...  And if you don't think that's true, then you must be locked in a room with no TV and no news what-so-ever... that's all I can say...
I'm interested in what's going to happen to Brandy....
This accident happened clear back in December and it's now June and nothing has happened, what do you think? OH there is something, that did happen, this:
"Brandy was involved in a car accident Dec. 30, 2006 in Los Angeles where there was a fatality. She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased. Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time," her publicist, Courtney Barnes, said in a statement.
It's so nice that HER publicist took the time to apologize for Brandy's murder of another human being... You can really tell, now, that she is REALLY upset about it...
Well, I'll tell you that if I had anyway of doing any thing about it, she would be upset as she would stand trial for her misjudgments.... Just like the rest of us would have to do if we would have done the exact thing that she did!!!
***********************************
I had a bad day about 2 days ago with chills and fever. Did not ever find out why, but it only lasted for the day and most of the night and then I was fine.. Betty had a back ache for a couple of days....  But she's feeling much better now... (I think a lot of her problem was from working on the bulk mail.) It takes a lot of work and you're on your feet quite awhile when you assemble a mailing... we did get another bulk mail out on Monday though and it makes me feel pretty good that we're back on track with our mailings...
I thought that the mailing we put out on June first was sitting in a post office somewhere as a lot of folks were starting to contact me to let me know that they did not receive their checking copies of Print and Mail jobs that I was doing for them...
After complaining to the post office, I contacted several people, who I know that I had mailed to, by email and telephone and today I received 6 contacts telling me that they had all received their mailings on today...  The mailing had went out on June the first so I'm starting to think that as that was a holiday weekend, maybe that's why it was so slow in getting across the country...
That's the only explanation that I have. I left my Post Master know this afternoon that the mail started showing up and left him off the hook...
****************************************
I'll have more for my mail order business friends in my next post... As it's pushing midnight here in my home office, I'm going to wrap it up for today and when YOU read this YOU have a GREAT day!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
The first and only Congressman to be jailed for criticizing the President was Matthew Lyon of Vermont, in 1798. He had attacked President John Adam's plainly unconstitutional Sedition Act, which forbade defamation of the government or its officers. The law was repealed during the Jefferson Administration!

It was really a beautiful day here in Central Pennsylvania today. Low humidity and only in the 70s. REALLY a nice day... I hope tomorrow is half as nice as today was.
*************************************
I've had several readers email me and tell me that I must update my blog as Paris is back in Jail. Well, yes, she is, but believe me it won't be for too long. It sure as heck will not be the 40 some days that the judge said that she must stay there and I'll bet a nickel on that one!
It was VERY refreshing though to see the Judge, Michael T. Sauer, "stand his ground" and insist that his orders be followed... I'm starting to think that here's a judge that can't be bought.. Thank goodness that there are a few of them left...
No, I'm not getting all warm and fuzzy, as I really don't think that most judges are that honest, and give a crap what is right and what is wrong, as long as they get their own way. Most are just like a bunch of big kids...
Anyway, back to Hilton....  I've read today that she is going to receive credit for the day or day and a half that she spent at home with her bracelet on, as well as the other time...  Heck even though they said that she will now have to spend the entire, original, 46 days, I'll still bet you dollars to doughnuts that she will leave the jail VERY soon...  Already they said that even though she didn't turn herself in until Monday that Friday will be counting as her sixth day... Now, I don't know where they went to school, but I'll be darned if I know how they can add up Monday through Friday and come up with six. But as I said in the last post, anything can and does happen when it comes to someone with fame and money.
After all, even though she's back inside the facility, she is NOT in her jail cell but she is at the other end of the building because little, frail, Paris, is near a break down by having to go back to jail. We'll be lucky if she EVER spends a full day or any part of a day in her actual cell..  Like I said, she won't even be in the building that long...  Things have a funny way of working when it comes to fame and money, and the screwed up addition of the days spent so far is just the beginning!
We'll just have to wait and see......
The punishment is already a joke so they may as well send her home... After all, neither Paris and/or her parents have the money to buy the publicity that she has received since this thing of her jail punishment came up....  She thrives on publicity and that's one of the ways she makes lots and lots of money....  When she goes to these "clubs" and such she don't go just for the fun of it but she also gets paid by the owners and she "draws" publicity for them and customers... I read yesterday that she gets paid as high as $100,000 dollars an evening! No, I didn't mean to write ten thousand, it IS a hundred thousand..  Not a bad pay check to sit around, shoot the shit with your friends, and have a few drinks, right?
Yes, I think I could learn that job pretty darn quick....  Of course she must invest in a lot of clothing, jewelry, and make up, but hey, there are back falls to all careers, if you want to call it a career, that is.
Looks like the weekend is over and Monday is here..... (At least it will be in a few hours.) Now, we'll see what will happen to little Paris today.
***************************************
I've already picked 4 tomatoes off of my GIANT 3 plant, (in containers), tomato patch, and many more green ones are starting to form...  Now, this year that I have them planted in containers that I can move up to the back yard, away from the river, I'll bet you that we don't even get any high water... Isn't that they way it always is...  I'm not complaining though as I get tired of cleaning up from what the river deposits into our back yard each time the water comes up and goes back down...  Yep, it does get tiring...  The back yard looks pretty good at the moment and I wouldn't mind if it stayed that way for awhile.
***************************************
Betty and I are getting caught up with our Bulk mailing for my home business and it feels pretty darn good to have the work cut back down to size for a change...  She, Betty, has finished assembling the 200 copies of the latest mailing this afternoon and I just finished the paperwork and it's ready to go to the post office first thing in the morning.  Now, even though we worked most of the day here today, Sunday, I must admit that it feels pretty darn good!
****************************************
It's been another day here listening to heavy equipment and such as up the lane from our house on the other side of our neighbors, a fellow bought river property that was up for sale where he want's to build his own house... When he bought that, he also bought property across the old Eire canal that runs in front of our house, and has divided that up into 3 parcels of land... Actually don't mention this, but in my opinion they are in the "wetlands" that surround most of us here, along the river... At any rate, he wants to build his house right along the river where we are, which is legal as long as there is already a foundation there... No new buildings...... That is now the State law.  However, the land he wants to sell is across the canal away from the river. He is advertising them as "river view" properties...  I guess they are, but you have to strain a bit to actually see the river from them...  At any rate, he is cleaning out trees all around where he wants to build and last Summer, I swear nearly every day this guy had a fire going up there burning brush... It was just about enough to drive you nuts and you didn't even get a break on Sunday. Our neighbor always fired up his grill and cooked on his deck on Sundays but last year had to forego that. Now, this year the guy is hauling tons and tons of earth and then separating the mountain stone from it for his basement...  It's just noise, noise, noise all the time... The dude hasn't even begun to actually build his house and he's already a PITA. (pain in the ass.)
He said he either wants to sell the properties across the canal first, or he must sell them first, for the money, before he builds his house... Either way, I understand that he figures it will take him about 2 years...  2 more years of this, I sure hope not... Already he has cut down just about all the foliage between the canal and the super duper highway that runs through our area and now all you can hear in our front yard is traffic noise.  Between him up there playing with his rocks and the noise of the traffic, it's enough to drive me nuts!!!
I just hope that he gets his house built or what the heck ever he is doing so we can get back to some dog gone peace and quiet around here again.... It's another one of those, We'll have to wait and see deals....
***********************************
It's getting late here Sunday evening so I think I'll not only stop updating this blog, but also shut down the computers out here, get my bath, and enjoy some TV before it's time to hit the sack.... So for me, I'm out of here, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Day!!!
***********************************************
Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
The greatest steady pressure ever recorded in a laboratory is 15.2 million pounds per square inch, which is 700 times the pressure exerted on the Earth's crust by Mount Everest. This pressure, when applied to diamonds, makes them slowly flow like liquid plastic!

It was another beautiful day here in Central Pennsylvania, probably the last one for this week as tomorrow it's supposed to be really hot and then stormy in the afternoon.. Right now though, it is very nice..
**************************************
I guess you knew that I couldn't let this Paris Hilton thing go without putting in my 2 cents... I've been saying for years that if you have fame and money, you can do whatever you please and here is just more proof of that "fact!"
Poor Paris had to go back home because of medical reasons so now she can spend her "time" at home... Give me a break.
Isn't that the reason they have medical clinics in prisons, for prisoners that become ill. When did you EVER hear of anyone being let out of prison, because they became sick or had ANY kind of medical problems? When? Come on now, think?
No, I can't think of any time either. I'm actually surprised that she even went to prison at all, let alone 3 whole days.
Oh, well, let's face it, she really didn't go to prison at all. At least not the prison you or I would go to if we would have been in the same situation that Hilton was in.
Oh, sure, that's okay Paris, even though you flagrantly ignored our laws and still done as you pleased, and not only put yourself in jeopardy, but others as well, we will send you to jail, but instead of the original time that you were sentenced to, we'll let you out in half of that time, as we already know that you will be on your best behavior, right?
Don't worry, we won't put you in the general population of the prison where you may get hurt, we'll make sure that you will have your own private room. After all, we just couldn't expect you to stay your sentence with just common, ordinary, law breakers, like hmmm .. yourself, now could we? Of course not.
Now, let's see it's been 3 whole days, and we know that you, Paris, miss your little doggie and the constant use of your "Blackberry," so we have decided to let you go home and tell the regular people, that you have some medical problems and just HAD to be released, but we are going to make you wear the ankle bracelet for 40 days and you will have to stay home, at your mansion, during that length of time as well.
Hmmmmm.... now let's see.... Paris has already left us know what she thinks of the laws that were created by the common people and apparently supposed to only be used on common people. She already drove without a license and that's how she got into this to start with. At least I think so, unless I missed something. So, because she, by now, must surely think that the laws do NOT apply to her, the courts are going to trust her to stay at home for 40 days?.....  Hmmmmm.. That makes sense, doesn't it????
She has no use for the laws, that's for sure, and even if she acted like she did, I'm sure this latest move has really convinced her that she is surely above the law.
Yep, if you're famous enough, and have enough money, and know enough people, I'll bet you could almost get away with murder...  Woops.... wait a minute, I think that's already happened.. Did anyone ever hear of O. J. Simpson?
Remember Leona Helmsley? She was sentenced to Federal Prison for evading taxes but spent all of the time in prison in an apartment like situation. No, she did NOT serve time the way you or I would or any other commoners.
Rich and famous, you're pretty much "off the hook" for any kind of jail time or REAL punishment at all!
It must be nice... The rest of us will NEVER know all the facts but you can bet they do pretty much get away with anything they do.
You read every day in the paper about this star or that star going to rehab for drug addiction. How many times do your read about those stars being arrested for possessing drugs.... Now, by golly if they are "strung out" on them, it seems to me that they must have been buying and using them for some time.
However, I have read a many of time, about Mr. average Joe being sentenced to prison for lousy possession of pot!
Do you remember all these years people telling us that money can't buy happiness? Well that's a crock! I don't know about you, but I'll tell you one thing, I'd be a lot happier out of jail living in a mansion than I could be IN jail living in a small room about the size of a bathroom.
**************************************
The gasoline around my area here, dropped about 3 cents since the Memorial Day holiday and that's about it. It hasn't went up, but it hasn't come done any either...  I thought sure that they would bring it down closer to 2 bucks.. Apparently, I guess they figure, why should they? After all nothing will happen to them if they don't. Right?
Let's hope it starts back down soon. I keep reading about people are hurting big because of the high cost of gasoline. I'm also reading of many more gas stations being robbed by people driving off without paying their bill....  Pretty soon the station will only sell by pre-pay or by credit cards at the pumps... Another part of good America that we'll never see again. Used to be that anywhere, you could fill your tank and then walk into the store and pay for it.. Pretty soon, that will be another piece of Americana that will only be in the Reminisce magazines and the history books.
***************************************
Talk about Reminiscing, for those of you, who like me, like to read what it was like back in the past, here's some stuff about the year 1940.
What was new in 1940?
Dairy Queen started up.
York Peppermint Patty hit the market.
The Rain-Blo gum ball was invented.
Of course World War II was going full blast. German forces march through France.
Defense plants pop up everywhere as the U.S. begins to prepare for its inevitable entry into the war. One item created for the Army is a small reconnaissance and general-purpose four-wheel-drive vehicle that becomes known affectionately as the jeep.
German born theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize winner Albert Einstein becomes an American citizen having moved to Princeton, New Jersey in 1932.
Radio: During the first season of Captain Midnight, which features numerous giveaway premiums, more than a million kids gain membership in the show's Flight Patrol!
Also new, is Truth or Consequences, with the consequences of incorrect answers being outrageous stunts for the participants!
The number 1 record listed is I'll Never Smile Again, by Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra, with vocals by Frank Sinatra.
Here are a few prices in 1940.....   Annual Wage, $1,315. - Plymouth two-door sedan, $739. - Man's tweed suit, $25. - Emerson tabletop radio, $9.95. - Woman's wool dress, $3.98. - House paint, $2.69 a gallon. - Bayer aspirin, 59¢ per 100 count bottle. - Roast beef, 29¢ a pound. - SPAM, 25¢ for a 12-ounce tin. - Sugar, 21¢ per 5 pound bag. - Gasoline, 18¢ a gallon! - Toilet paper, 15¢ a roll. - First-class stamp, 3¢!!!

It's almost 11 PM and time for me to close down the office for today. So for me, "I'm outta" here, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
1. A mosquito has forty-seven teeth!
2. Amoebas, a one celled animal, can be taken apart and new ones created. Cytoplasm from one amoeba, the nucleus of another, and the membranes of a third are combined, and the new creature swims away.

It was a beautiful cool day here in Central Pennsylvania... We were supposed to have thunder storms this afternoon but it never happen and stay around 73 degrees all day. I got a lot of work done, here in the office, but also took some time toward evening to cut down brambles, down along the river... I couldn't have picked a more pleasant day for that job.... that's for sure..

Make sure you read the entire blog here today as I have a video link later on that is going to blow your mind..
Ah heck, let me get to that first as I can hardly contain myself... This one is REALLY going to piss of the big oil companies and also the oil sheiks, because unless the oil companies go together and buy up the invention, we will soon have no use for oil AT ALL!
Yep, you read it right... Well, I'm getting ahead of myself..
He's a short blurb that was written by the guy that first emailed me the story about this.
So, here we go again. Another breakthrough...another paradigm buster...just like we've read about over the years. And all of them have been swallowed up and made to vanish into the void by the deadly Big Oil beast that sits upon the planet like Godzilla. More than a few such inventors like the man in this news story have suddenly stopped working...and some have suffered untimely deaths. So, read this one and enjoy because we may not hear much about it again. – ed
This fellow may be right as this is so big, I'm sure the big oil companies will try very hard to make it JUST GO AWAY....
MAN TURNS WATER INTO FUEL!!!
I know, I can hear you laughing already but take a look at this anyway and then view the video and THEN see what you think....
At any rate it seems that a Sanibel Island, FL man may have accidentally invented a machine that could solve the gasoline and energy crisis plaguing the U.S., WPBF News channel 25 has reported.
Sanibel Island resident John Kanizius is a former broadcast executive from Pennsylvania who wondered if his background in physics and radio could come in handy in treating the disease from which he suffers: cancer.
Kanzius, 63, invented a machine that emits radio waves in an attempt to kill cancerous cells while leaving normal cells intact. While testing his machine, he noticed that his invention had other unexpected abilities.
Filling a test tube with salt water from a canal in his back yard, Kanzius placed the tube and a paper towel in the machine and turned it on. Suddenly, the paper towel ignited, lighting up the tube like it was a wax candle.
"Pretty neat, huh?" Kanzius asked WPBF's Jon Shainman.
Kanzius performed the experiment without the paper towel and got the same result -- the saltwater was actually burning. The former broadcasting executive said he showed the experiment to a handful of scientists across the country who claim they are baffled at watching salt water ignite.
It'll be interesting to see how this technology plays out, but we could be looking at a breakthrough here. (Fingers crossed!)
Need a little more convincing?
Just click here for the video... Unbelievable!!!
Water to fuel!  After you click on the Water to fuel link and go to the article page, click on the Video where it says, "Watch the Story."
Now, what do you think?
While you are there, it seems this same fellow may have found a cure for cancer... Check out the video where it say's, "Curing Cancer", for some more goodies from this fellow... Incidentally, he has NO medical background at all, but he does have cancer and was looking for a cure for himself... He has a background in radio and physics....  This is the coolest thing that I've read and seen in a long time... It almost gives me "Goosebumps."
Can you imagine, if almost overnight, the oil fields of the world became almost useless? Wouldn't that be something?  Well, you could still use oil for energy if it was still permitted... Lets face it, the hydrogen in the water has about nil emissions for a very clean air, and oil is still loaded with the bad emissions....
This is the kinds of stories that make the news worth reading...  I'll be keeping a close eye on this Kanzius fellow and I'll be following his progression on line...

I did want to mention that my portable tomato patch is doing just fine... If you've been reading this blog for some time, you'll remember that last year I lost my beautiful tomato patch to the high water of the mighty Susquehanna River, that runs through out back yard..  So this year I only planted 3 tomatoes in giant containers and this way, if the river gets high, I can get a two wheel moving cart and drag them up here to the high part of our yard... At any rate, I took a couple of pictures of them and here is one of them...  You can see some are getting red already, which is VERY early around these parts... I've already picked two of them!  I'm looking forward to getting many more for just these 3 plants...  Also, I thought I'd put a picture of one of Betty's roses just to show you that finally, we have achieved summer weather around here at the Blue Bird Cottage! It's a real beauty, isn't it?

SOME STUFF FOR MY MAIL ORDER/MLM/HOMEBUSINESS FRIENDS
I'll be putting up some more stuff here in a couple of days... as I want to put up a post of a circular on the web before I tell you about a neat little way to generate some cash.... Nothing fantastic but I just got started and the orders that are coming in are for only $5 cash but by golly it only costs you a few cents to fill the orders... In the last week I've taken in $60 in orders... No big deal, but not bad for a small cash flow program...  If you can't wait a couple of days, email me with your address and I'll drop a circular in the mail to you that pretty much explains it...

Well it's almost about midnight, and today is just about shot. So, I'm going to wrap up this post for today, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can! Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Englishmen of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries believed that no one who lay upon feathers could die in peace. Therefore, when death approached, the pillow was withdrawn from under the dying person's head to ease the passing!
(There are a lot of weird beliefs out there isn't there?)
