It's another VERY cold day
here in Central Pennsylvania with temps only supposed to reach a toasty 32
degrees above zero. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.... That's cold for my old bones.....
*************************************
I've been working the last couple of days on two web sites that I'm building
for some customers. Well, they are both more than my customers I'd have to say
as both are my friends as well... The one I have finished for Betty and my
Chinese friends at the Grand Buffet Restaurant in the Harrisburg, PA area. You
can check out that site at:
www.pagrandbuffet.net
The other is for a couple of my home business colleagues and friends way up in
Bridgeport Connecticut. Although this one is far from done, I do have it
available on the web and you can see what I've got done so far by clicking
here: www.mattys.org I've been working on
this one, off and on, for quite awhile now and my friends have been very
patient, but now I am really working to get it done. Well, actually it will
never be really done as I'll be adding to it on a consistent basis. Anyway,
just for the heck of it, take a look at them. If you have any comments, my
email address is at the bottom of today's post.
*************************************
Take a look at the
picture of our mighty Susquehanna River that runs through our back yard here
at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. Yes, with the very cold
spell that we've had here this past week, we do have some ice on the river...
Matter of fact, we have a lot of ice on the river! At the moment, it's still
moving but if it stays this could for a few more days, it will freeze
completely over with solid ice on the top... I like it when we get
through a winter without the freeze over as when the ice "breaks" in the
Spring, it can get really scary!
I've already stood on our back deck and visibly watched the water rise very
fast.. What happens is, the ice breaks, and then below is a a large bend in
the river. The ice gets "hung up" at this bend and then it begins acting like
a dam and the water behind it begins to rise. I've seen it come up to where
our back deck just starts. Right where the upright poles go into the ground
before the "temporary dam gave way" and the water receded. When that happens,
it's almost like someone pulling a plug in the bath tub! It is amazing and
would really be cool to watch if I wasn't worried about the water flooding our
cottage.
Oh well, even though this is a GREAT place to live, and I wouldn't give it up
to live anywhere else, it does come with it's own setbacks.
**************************************
The end of the month is here now and I must get to work tomorrow on the
OAMA "stuff" that must be
done at the end of each month,
the
Newsletter and the
Monthly Member Benefit
Directory, including writing all of the commission checks. That will take
all day tomorrow to get done, and may even run into the next morning.. This
monthly operation is a big job and it not only takes a lot of time, but a lot
of work.
I always feel much better when the job is done, but I guess we're all that way
when we get a sizable job finished. So I'll go to bed tonight looking forward
to that tomorrow.

Crude oil prices rise above US $56
Crude oil prices rose above 56 dollars a barrel Tuesday as OPEC is to cut
supply since Feb. 1.
As of 1:25 p.m., crude prices was up 2.49 dollars, or 4.61 percent at
56.50 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Read this
entire short story by clicking here:
Crude
oil prices rise.
Crude prices rebound above 55 dollars a barrel last week
as cold weather hit U.S. Northeast, the world's biggest heating oil market.
Well, I did mention above that we are now in a very cold spell. It sure
doesn't take long for the money men and women to "jump on a good thing." You
know, like the weather getting colder in the Northeast!
You know the funny thing is though, that in the last 5 days, gasoline prices
have come down a couple of cents 2 times! Yesterday it was down to $2.11 a
gallon at the nearest Costco in my area. Even the local station, here in
Dauphin, came down 2 cents since yesterday.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining by a long shot, but it just
doesn't make sense... Of course with the oil prices around $50 bucks a barrel
last week, the gasoline rates should have really been way below $2 bucks a
gallon... They, the gas stations have been screwing around about
bringing the prices down.. Now, maybe that they see the oil is on it's way
back up, they figure can afford to drop the gas a few pennies toward where it
REALLY should be!
I figure that when oil is around 50 bucks a barrel, gas should be around $1.50
a gallon at the most.... It just seems that the stations just didn't
want to give up any, or should I say very little, of their massive profits
that they've been enjoying over the last couple of years.......
They're still squeezing out throats, or should I say our wallets, for every
penny they can get out of us....
Do I sound bitter? Well, I never thought that I was this bitter over the
years, but then again, I have never seen so many dishonest, stingy, money
grubbing people in my life until this gasoline and fuel situation came up...
It seems it all started when the hurricane hit down South and has never gotten
back under control and gasoline at a fair price since then.....
Oh well, maybe I am bitter..... Geez..... I would guess that all of us are a
bit bitter except for those of us that own a lot of oil stocks.
**************************************
Well, I do have some other things to get done before I get started on the end
of the month,
OAMA
stuff. So, for me I'm back to work, and that's the blog for today and for this
month, January,
and YOU, YOU have a
GREAT day!
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can!
Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
President William Howard Taft weighed 350 pounds. He got stuck in a bathtub in
the White House and someone had to be called to pull him out. He then had a
special tub made. It was so big that, when it was delivered, four White House
workmen climbed into it and had their picture taken!

Geez..... I can't believe
that another week has shot by! Wow! We had another beautiful day here today in
Central Pennsylvania, but a very cold one...
I guess after all the nice days this Winter, I just can't get myself used to
the cold days now, that they've finally arrived...
**************************************
Our coal stoker is running at top end but is producing enough heat to keep us
warm, even in this drafty cottage, here along the mighty Susquehanna River. We
always seem to have a good breeze coming off the river and it seeps right
through our cottage no matter how hard I try to seal it up.
The good thing about that is that we'll never have to worry about Radon Gas as
our cellar is dirt and as I said the house is far from sealed.... Plenty of
ventilation and that should protect us from Radon as that is usually a problem
in well sealed, modern homes...
This place is FAR from modern, but we, Betty and I do love it here as you sure
as heck can't beat the view when we look out our window every morning!
***************************************
We finally, a couple of days
ago, had our first snow that actually laid. They were calling from 1" to
several inches and we were ready for it.. Here's a picture of what we
finally ended up with. It was so little, that I didn't think that they would
be able to measure it, but apparently at the Harrisburg Airport they measured
it at 1/10 of an inch. We were almost at a record that was set many years ago
for a non-measurable snow fall before January 23rd, but unfortunately we just
didn't make it... Oh well, we're still looking for a good snow fall. Actually,
me, personally, I do like a little snow once in awhile, but these days, it
doesn't take me long to get tired of it.
I just can't think of anything else, that makes it look so beautiful outdoors
in a very short period of time. Like, you can go to bed with the same old,
same old view, and get up the next morning to a scene of just plain,
wonderment! Hmmmmmm..... I guess I am looking forward to a good snow... It
would be good for our farmers as well. They need that snow cover to protect
their winter crops from damage.
When, and if we do get one, I'll post a couple of shots up here so you can
enjoy them too without the obligation of even shoveling any of it!
***************************************
Tonight I just purchased a WEB contract to carry two new web sites for a year
and two domain names... One for a very good friend and colleague, and the
other for a restaurant in Harrisburg, that I'm going to build sites for.
I already have a lot of the work done for both of the sites but must get them
organized and up as soon as possible...
Hopefully I'll now get them done in short order...
As I look at the piles of orders on my desks and "stuff" that need answers
typed and mailed, I think sometimes that I will NEVER get caught up. Then,
I'll have a GOOD day where I get a lot done, and start to think, maybe, just
maybe, I will get caught up some day! Thank goodness I love what I'm doing our
I would be in for a lot of work. If you love what you are doing, you NEVER
have to work again!
*****************************************
You probably know that I couldn't put a post up here without mentioning the
gasoline prices... Well, good news, at least for this time, as the cost
of gas is still going down... Of course as not as fast as it should, but it IS
definitely going down.
Around here, our prices are still above 2 bucks a gallon with an average of
around $2.15 at most places... I saw at Costco's today the price was $2.11.
The cheapest prices that I've read about on the web believe it or not are in
Michigan.
Detroit: Cheapest gas in U.S.
Survey: Prices fall nearly 14 cents nationwide over 2 weeks, mirroring a drop
in the cost of crude oil.
Joe Menard / The Detroit News
DETROIT -- Owning two gas-guzzling GMC Yukons has given George Golliday little
to smile about in recent years as he watched gas prices soar past $3 a gallon.
But the 38-year-old Detroit resident flashed a grin Sunday night as he filled
up his 2007 Yukon XL with regular unleaded at $1.89 a gallon.
"It's a savings, big time," he said as the pump stopped at $54.87, about $15
less than he usually pays. "It's always a blessing when you can save money."
Nationwide, retail gas prices for regular unleaded dropped nearly 14 cents
over the past two weeks to $2.18 a gallon, industry analyst Trilby Lundberg
said Sunday.
The nation's lowest prices were in Detroit, where the average price of regular
unleaded gasoline was $1.897; it was $1.95 statewide Sunday, according to AAA
Michigan. It's the lowest statewide average since March
2005.lowest statewide average since March

Cheapest Gas
It feels so darn good to write something here for a change about gasoline that
is encouraging. I just hope that they continue to drop!
Geez..... I remember when you could fill a 20 gallon tank for less that 6
bucks! The guy above is happy because it now, it only cost him $54.87!
*****************************************
We stopped at Costco's to check on new tire prices today for our Jeep..
Wow, I was impressed. They have some really good buys... I ordered 4 BF
Goodrich's that we should be able to pick up on Friday or Monday... When you
buy tires from them, you get a lifetime of free rotation, a break down on the
road guarantee and new valve stems, balancing and mounting all included in the
price. And today they had another plus as well.... order 4 new tires and get a
$50.00 discount on the price! With state tax and all the price came to
$317.76. That's a darn good price as compared to what else we've seen...
No, I don't work for them or get any kind of commissions... Next time you're
looking for new tires, if you have a Costco near you, you may want to take the
time to check out their prices...
******************************************
Well, I guess that's about the latest from our "neck of the woods," so for me,
I'm going to wrap it up for tonight, and YOU, YOU have a
GREAT day!
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can!
Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
In 1555, Ivan the Terrible ordered the construction of St. Basil's Church in
Moscow. He was so pleased with this piece of work by the two architects,
Postnik and Barma, that he had them blinded so they would never be able to
designing anything more beautiful!

SORRY IT TOOK ALL WEEK TO GET ANOTHER POST UP. I HOPE THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN
AGAIN!
It was nice and sunny all
day today here in Central Pennsylvania. However, I think Winter has finally
arrived as the temps never got out of the low 30's. We're doing pretty good
around here though compared to what the poor devils out in the mid west are
having. Today I heard that the storms in the last couple of weeks have killed
15 people. Wow! That's terrible, but I guess there is no way to predict how
many Mother Nature will cause to "cease to exist."
We haven't even seen any snow around our place here along the river this year
yet, but that may very well change tomorrow as they are predicting that we may
have some snow and that it may be enough to "lay." If not tomorrow, they say
next Monday for sure... I sure hope not as Betty has an out patient
appointment at the hospital on Monday...
I sure don't need to go "slip - sliding" to the appointment early Monday
morning! I can sure do without that.
**************************************
The latest news from Iraq seems good, I guess. They are getting rid of some of
the bad guys that was running the place for years.. Not only did they
hang Saddam Hussein, but they hung his half brother at the beginning of this
week as well. I think they may have "botched" the job though. No, I'm not an
expert on hangings but I am pretty sure that you are not supposed to
deactivate or "be-head" the victim.
Well, most of you who have read my blog for any amount of time knows what I
think about the Iraq deal..
I never thought that we should have invaded the country to start with..
I think we can get into enough trouble with our country without going out into
the world to hunt for more of it. Heck, the other day, President Bush was
talking about how we were going to stop the "insurgents" and war supplies from
coming over the Iraq border into the country to fight against our men and
women in our armed forces.
Geez, the last time I checked, we couldn't even stop the Mexicans from coming
across our boarders to "bankrupt" our economy! If he has good ideas on that
subject, I sure wish that he would apply some of them here, at home.
**************************************
I still contend that we could fix all the troubles we have here in the good
ole U.S.A. and all of our money problems as well, like the national debt, by
just adjusting the way we think. You know, like thinking that we have to
protect the entire world from everything that WE think is bad.
Also, giving money aid to each and every country around the world that the "in
office" President thinks he should give money away, that incidentally, we
DON'T have, to them so he can get good press.
My cure is really simple and that's why it will never get a look at, period.
If we would bring all of our troops home from all of these countries and just
keep them ready in case WE'RE EVER ATTACKED. We would then have plenty of
troops to deploy down to the Mexican border to put a stop to that mess. We
could actually send most of our troops back home and just keep them in the
reserves. Can you imagine how many bucks that alone would save us?
Zillions! We have troops all over the place.....
Also, we should stop giving money away to all of these countries, I'm talking
about billions that we don't even have. If we did have it, we could put it
toward the national debt...
That would save Zillions more...
Now, take all that money that we're saving and PAY OFF THE NATIONAL DEBT! Get
it out of the way...
By doing this they could almost get rid of the income taxes and at least rid
of the IRS agency... Again, we would save many, many more bucks...
Now, then, and only then, we would actually have some real money, and not
borrowed money, that once in a while we could help under developed countries.
But FIRST get ourselves out of debt.... Bring all of our troops home to
the U.S. and our possessions. Protect ourselves first, and don't go out and
start wars. We are NOT the aggressors, that's what makes America so good. We
are not supposed to be the aggressors or the oppressors.... We are supposed to
be a peaceful nation and I always thought we were until I saw the Korean
Conflict, the Vietnam War, and now the Iraq war. The government will NEVER get
the support of the American people as they did in the 2nd World War as in the
2nd World War WE WERE ATTACKED! When we are attacked, EVERYONE, and I
mean EVERYONE in our country that is an actual citizen is ready to protect our
country. I always thought and was brought up and even taught in school to
believe that we are NOT the aggressive country, and the only way we can be
provoked into a war is by them attacking us first.
Apparently, that entire philosophy is not the "in" thing anymore. They must
have changed it all when I wasn't looking. I just wander what they teach in
the schools now. I wonder how they justify to our children why we are suddenly
the country doing the attacking? How do they explain to them that we are still
the "good guys." It's just that every once in awhile, if we don't like the way
another country is being run, we go in and try to wipe them out and replace
their "inferior" way of thinking with our "proper" way of thinking....
Yeah, I guess these days, it's all changed around... Hmmmmmmm........
*************************************
Well the cost of crude oil is STILL dropping and it's down around $50 bucks a
barrel! Wow! Yep, looks like everything is going down and dropping but the
gasoline prices at the pumps! What the heck is going on???..
The other day I read that the real reason that the price of gas isn't dropping
is that the oil companies and the gas stations do not want to drop it as they
want to continue to enjoy their HUGE profits.... Wow, someone is FINALLY
telling the truth... Isn't that hard to believe? I forgot to "bookmark" the
article and can't find it again as I wanted to post it up here, darn it!
Gas prices are down about 12¢ lower than they was at this time last year and
some think it's GREAT! Yeah it is but not when you consider that by the
cost of oil the cost of gasoline SHOULD be down around $1.65 a gallon and not
around $2.25 a gallon as it is now... Sure it's better now than it was when it
was $3 a gallon but heck that doesn't mean that they can't drop it down where
it belongs and really give us the break that we've been waiting on....
I found this article that begins with, CUSTOMER'S RELIEVED BY RECENT DROP
IN GAS PRICES! It then goes on to say that prices are down about 6¢
in the last week and wow isn't that great etc... That's a bunch of BULL. Geez....
look how far down the oil has dropped in the last week.... You can look
at this stupid article by clicking here:
Lower Prices I
also heard a guy on the today show that said, "Did you ever notice that when
Gas prices rise, they go up like a rocket but when they come down, they come
down like a bunch of feathers? Yep, he's right there, but I was surprised to
actually here it said out loud on TV....
**************************************
It's been busy here in my small home office as business is really up. I'm not
complaining though and that's for sure... I'll get it done but I think by the
looks of it, I'm going to have to extend my hours some for awhile...
With that in mind, I think I'm going to wrap it up for tonight so for me, I'm
outta here... and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!
I should be posting here again before the end of this week and I'm looking
forward to it..... Keep up with the news as it DOES affect your life.... I
wish it didn't but it does... let's you and I keep our wits and good
common sense keen......
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can!
Okay?)
***********************************************
Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
In his diary entry of August 2, 1882, Lewis Carroll (author and publisher)
estimated that even if he sold the entire 2,000-copy first printing of Alice
in Wonderland he would lose 200 British pounds. By selling another 2,000
copies he would make about 200 pounds. If he sold additional copies, he would
then realize a bigger gain, but "that I can hardly hope for." Before his
death, in 1898, about 180,000 copies had been sold!!!

Winter has finally set in
here in Central Pennsylvania. It's about 10 PM and it's colder than heck
outside. Brrrrrrrr...... It only got up to 34 degrees today and it's
supposed to go down to the upper teens tonight... Oh well, I guess we
must get some winter around here.. It can turn back warm, whenever it
feels like it, as far as I'm concerned..
**************************************
Actually, I'm just about ready to "wrap it up" for today but wanted to post a
couple of things here first...
Talking about the weather I don't think the Big oil companies or the oil rich
Arabs like the fact that this is a warm winter so far not just here in the
eastern United States, but a lot of the world as well..
I just would like to know, like a lot of others, I'm sure, why the price on
gasoline has just come down a few cents when the price of crude oil has been
dropping the last few weeks like a "lead balloon!" This morning on one of my
favorite news program, the lady announcer asked that same question to a fellow
that's supposed to know what's going on with the cost of gasoline... He said
that the American People must realize that with every dollar the cost of a
barrel of oil goes up or down, it either raises the cost of gasoline about 2¢
a gallon.. That's bull crap! If that scale REALLY did work, then the
cost of gasoline would have never went over the $2.00 a gallon mark to start
with!
All I know is that when the cost of oil rises, the cost of gasoline shoots up
immediately and jumps in cost a lot. But when the oil costs come down, the
price of gasoline just goes down a few cents and always at a snail's pace.
The cost of gasoline around here is still around $2.30 a gallon but the cost
of oil is the lowest it's been in 19 months!!!!
That's right click here for that story Lowest Oil Prices in 19 Months!
That means that gasoline SHOULD BE around $1.60 a gallon!!!! I didn't think
that they'd ever allow it to drop below 2 bucks a gallon again, but heck we
should at least be down to 2 bucks a gallon NOW!!!
Crude Oil Falls Below $54 After Surge in U.S. Fuel Inventories
Jan. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil fell below $54 a barrel
in New York after a U.S. government report showed fuel inventories rose for a
fourth week as demand plunged to its lowest in more than two years.
Distillate supplies, including heating oil and diesel, surged 5.4 million
barrels to
141 million last week, the biggest gain since January 2004, the Energy
Department said yesterday. Gasoline supplies rose 3.76 million barrels to
213.3 million. Total demand, based on deliveries from refineries, dropped 4
percent as mild weather in the Northeast sapped heating oil use.
``The market seems very well supplied,'' said Randy Simpson, vice president of
supply and trading at New West Petroleum Inc. in Sacramento, California.
``There's really no one who is going to buy this thing. It's `catch a falling
knife syndrome'.'' Crude oil for February delivery fell as much as 56 cents,
or 1 percent, to $53.46 a barrel in after-hours electronic trading on the New
York Mercantile Exchange. It was at $53.66 at 8:06 a.m.
in Singapore.
The contract fell $1.62, or 2.9 percent, to $54.02 yesterday, the lowest close
since June 10, 2005, and the fifth decline in six days. Prices are down 12
percent this year and reached a low of $53.44 yesterday.
Click here for this entire story..
Crude Oil Falls Below $54 After Surge in U.S. Fuel Inventories
After you read both stories and what's here on this blog, ask yourself why the
heck we're still paying the huge prices we are now! Someone should be
bitching! And I mean by someone, I'm talking about our Congressmen and
Congresswomen... The democrats should stop celebrating their take over
of the House and the Republicans should get their heads out of their butts and
ask the oil companies the same questions I'm asking, and a lot of folks that I
know are asking... Why haven't the gasoline prices gone down with the crude
oil prices... That's what THEIR excuse always is... The cost of crude
has went up and we must raise our gas prices to accommodate for it.
If you see or hear or see anything on TV or the WEB, that explains this
questions please email me and let me know...
**********************************
Also, tax time is coming up again... When isn't it? Seems like every time we
turn around some darn taxes are due.... The real estate taxes, the state and
federal income taxes, etc.. Well, finally some guy took the time to
"take apart" the IRS code and really find out what everything means... I
mean this dude took a microscope to it..
He knows everyway and everything on how to get the lowest tax or no tax at all
from your earnings etc...
Did you know that even most of the tax auditors don't have a clue to
everything that's in the code.... It's so big, they just have no idea...
This guy wrote a book,
It's Not How Much You Make, But How Much You Keep That Counts! I know
that's quite a mouthful... This book is so good that even the IRS took
the manuscript and studied it with a "fine tooth comb" to see if all this guy
claimed was legal to do, really was...
They gave him back the book and told him to go ahead and sell it... In other
words, it's all true..... There's a picture of the book under my picture at
the top in the left hand column of this blog... Click on it and then click on
the name of the book on the left of the page that comes up.... Check out what
this book and some of it's contents are really about...
I'll tell you the truth.... I buy a lot of books through out the year... I buy
a lot of Bottom Line books and they are far from cheap... Some are $40 bucks
or more... This is the best book buy that I've made in the last several
years!
I know when I do my taxes it will be right beside me...
Everyone can save with this book. People with home businesses or people who
work for others... If you have a part time home business and a regular
job, or even if you don't have a part time business, this guy can tell you how
to get an immediate raise, right now! It's legal and can put up
to a couple of extra hundred bucks a week in your pocket... Did I mention NOW!
Once you have this information In one week, two weeks top, you have your
raise! Check this one out, as I said, I did, and I'm sure glad I did....
That's about all the tax tips you'll ever see from me... I try to not
even think about income taxes until April, but I can see now, if I want to
save even more, I'll have to start 3 months before then....
************************************
Not much else that's new around here, but as usual business is booming. If
you've ever thought of starting a home grown business, it's a good time of the
year to start, right now!
I am getting out extra business first class promotional mailings and also
extra bulk mailings before the post office puts postage up again in a couple
of months.. Boy, I remember when I was a kid, postage was 3¢ an ounce and it
stayed that way for 20 some years... Now, just last year they raised postage
costs and just a little over a year later, they're going to do it again!
I've always said, our government is the biggest inflator there is. They never
raise anything a few cents or a few percentages... They always go "crazed."
Not just the Feds but the state government as well... When the state raised
the fishing licenses, they about doubled them.... 10% or even 15% would
have been a nice raise but they never think that way... It's like driver's
licenses and registration plates and I could just go on and on.....
After all the years I've observed our government people, you know the ones who
give their lives to "public service," (Ha!), think that they are all elected
just to spend money and raise taxes.... They're happy to oblige! They
love their jobs.... They spend hours and a lot of money to get elected and
re-elected. But when you "talk" to them, they like to make a "big deal"
of letting you know that they are sacrificing themselves for public service...
Yeah, I guess they are, but they do make sure that they are well paid and well
taken care of when they leave public office, don't they?
***************************************
I'm going to close my computers down and let them cool off until tomorrow
morning before I must start them up again, so for me, I'm outta here, and
YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can!
Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Thomas Jefferson apparently did not love his mother. In his diary, he made
exactly one reference to her. "March 31st - My mother died about 8 o'clock
this morning. In the 57th year of her age." When he once was told by a servant
that his mother's house had burned down, Jefferson's first question was, "What
about my books?" Jefferson did not invite his mother to live in his home.
(According to one story, she was "crazy? and thrice tried to burn down her
house before finally succeeding!)

It was raining here all day
at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania, but the temps got up to 60
degrees! It's hard to believe that we're getting this kind of weather here in
Central Pennsylvania in January. The
Pennsylvania Farm Show starts tomorrow and we ALWAYS have a lot of snow
storms that week. However the weatherman says that we won't have one flake of
snow this year.
*************************************
This year is the
91st PA Farm Show and I don't think there has ever been one where we had
no snow in that week. At least I can't find any record of it.
It's going to be hard to get near the area of the farm show in Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania tomorrow as usually all the routes into that area are blocked
with cars and trucks.
Click here for some of the stuff that's going on at this year's farm show, and
also check out the butter sculpture of Benjamin Franklyn.
WGAL TV FARM SHOW
When I was a kid we didn't miss a year there. Of course I grew up on a dairy
farm. Back then it was a lot different than it is now... Everything costs
money now. Admittance, parking, you name it... Back when I was young it was
all for FREE.
Everyone went there for all of the judging activities and to sell all the
animals, contests, etc., and it was just a great thing to do and like I said,
it didn't cost a penny....
However, now days everything has a price tag on it.. I'm sure it's just
as much fun as it ever was, but it's all so, commercial now... It's kind of
lost some of the fun for me.

The rise in gasoline prices has not only stalled around our area, but have
actually fallen a couple of cents, two times so far... We can only hope,
but everyone in the news is calling for it to start to rise yet again..
I paid $2.28 cents a gallon at Costco's this evening. I'm hoping that it comes
down even more before my next fill up. But going by the last year and a half,
I can't count on anything actually happening the way I'd like it to...
I ran an Internet search about 10 minutes ago and ran into this article that
was posted only 6 hours ago.....
U.S. drivers could start seeing lower prices at the pump
as early as this weekend, thanks to the cascading price of crude oil and a
seasonal dip in gasoline, analysts say.
A gallon of regular unleaded gasoline costs an average of $2.325 across the
country, according to the AAA.
"That's probably going to be the highest price you pay in January," Oil Price
Information Service analyst Tom Kloza said. "We're going to get a nice little
energy price dividend in January: If you're buying heating oil, you're going
to pay a lot less than last year, and we're definitely going to be paying less
for gasoline than we did in December."
Gasoline prices typically fall in January amid weaker demand, Kloza said,
before perking back up around Valentine's Day and rising through the summer.
Also helping to temper gasoline prices is the recent slide in crude oil
prices. Light, sweet crude for February delivery dropped as low as $54.90
Friday -- the lowest price in 19 months -- before climbing back to settle at
$56.31, up 72 cents on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The contract on Thursday fell $2.73, or 4.7 percent, to settle at $55.59 a
barrel -- the lowest settlement price since June 15,
2005. The drop followed a 4.5 percent decline Wednesday.
February Brent crude on London's ICE Futures exchange rose 53 cents to settle
at $55.64, after earlier dropping as low as $54.50.
Gasoline prices rose less than a penny to $1.493 after earlier falling as low
as $1.46.
Kloza, though, said drivers shouldn't expect retail gasoline prices to drop as
steeply as crude prices. Many retailers were unable to pass along higher
wholesale costs in December, and they'll likely hold onto some of the price
drop for themselves, he said.
A warmer winter has meant less demand for heating fuels, and the National
Weather Service is forecasting continued mild conditions in the eastern United
States.
Temperatures could reach the upper 60s in New York on Saturday before cooling
off but remaining above normal into next week, meteorologist Dennis Feltgen
said.

Falling
Oil Prices May Benefit Drivers
Actually, I think it's because of the warm winter here in the east and less
demand for heating fuels... That lets plenty more oil for refining into
gasoline....
Last week the oil cartel, OPEC, said that they were going to cut production
another 500,000 barrels a day to "drive" the cost of oil back up....
I hope we have a warm winter all through the season this year....
I no here at our place we're using a heck of a lot less coal than we normally
do at this time of the year.... and that's just fine with me... It's about
time we get a break on these darn fuel prices...... All of us!
All we can do is hope as tomorrow the big oil companies may decide that they
want to try and break the record quarters that they set for profits last
year.... If so, they will up the cost of gasoline with no excuse what so
ever and no one, not even the government will give them a "slap on the wrist."

A lot of stuff has happened since my last post here. They finally hung Saddam
Hussein. I still have no idea why they wasted an entire year beating it to
death about his crimes... I still think they would have been better to
"off" him the day they found him hiding in his rabbit hole. It would have sure
saved a lot of time and money.
Lot's of folks in Iraq celebrated his death and some were angry about it...
I don't understand why anyone would be angry about taking out a man that did
the kind of things Hussein did to his fellow humans... Oh well, there's
a lot I don't understand about that whole situation...
Here's a good article and a video of the hanging of Saddam Hussein... Just
click here;

Also, it looks like the Democrats has taken over Congress and we have the
first woman speaker of the house.
Congratulations to Nancy Pelosi! Here's a decent story on it but by the looks
of the picture of Nancy in this article, she's scared half to death!

Bush announced last week that he will be replacing his two top generals in
Iraq. Click
here for the Story.
I was really surprised when I heard this.. Why would he replace his two
top generals? Did they do something wrong? Were they not doing their jobs? He
never mentioned anything about them not being capable to handle the job
before...
If you are at the top of a military force, just what must you do, or not do to
actually get fired and replace by someone else?
Sounds like we're not getting the whole story on this. (As usual!)
****************************************
I'm just getting caught up here in the office from all of the end of the month
stuff done.... Writing newsletters, doing
Once A Month Association
stuff, and getting all of that in the mail..
Betty and I also got out a bulk mail yesterday.. Things are looking up a
bit around here and it seems like I just may get close to getting caught up...
There is always something that gets tossed into the mix though that holds
things up... I received an order from a customer today in the mail. She filled
out the order coupon at the bottom of the order form and put in her credit
card information, etc., however she then cut the coupon from the order form
page and sent it to me... Just the coupon, no order form! Yep, I have no
idea what she wants, and even though I ask for people's phone numbers when
they pay with a credit card, in case I must check with them on some
information or something, she failed to put her phone number on the coupon. So
the only thing I can do is write her a letter and mail it to her by snail mail
and then wait for her to respond to get the order ready of what she wants and
mail it back to her. What a waste, not only because of the mistake of cutting
the coupon from the order form, but by not reading the instructions and
putting her phone number in the coupon.. Oh well, things like this will
continue to happen as long as I keep dealing with people as none of us are
perfect, and that's a "fer sure!"
**************************************
Well, I'm going to wrap it up for tonight.... Get some sleep so I can get
started again in the morning... I'll be working tomorrow morning and then
tomorrow evening as well.... YOU, YOU have a GREAT
day and I'll get back to you as soon as I can....
(I'll see you right back here just as soon as I can!
Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Because their work was so physically demanding, slave sugar-cane cutters were
the South's most costly field hands. At one point, their price became so high
on the New Orleans slave market that a Louisiana planter tried to hire Irish
and German immigrants instead. This plan backfired when the hired workers went
on a strike for double pay right in the middle of the sugar harvest!
