It's a beautiful, sunny
morning here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania! Looks like
we've broken out of the cold spell, as well, this week. Today it's supposed to
go up into the high 30s and then for the rest of the weeks it's supposed to be
in the 40s!! Hot dog!!! That's just fine with me as I'm already tired of
the cold weather!
We had a pretty good weekend here as well, however I didn't get outdoors much
to see it. Yesterday I got up at 7:00 AM and after putting on the coffee I
fired up my computers and began to work on all of the
OAMA "stuff", the Newsletter, Monthly Member Benefit Directory,
Statements, and Checks, etc., again as I had begun the project on Friday. I
never finished up last night until after 11 PM.. That's a long day.. The
only breaks I had were to "fix" the furnace for the day and of course meals.
Of course Betty helped as usual. It took a bit longer this month as our
Quarter Dealer Directory was due for a new issue and I also developed a brand
new FREE dealership for our members. I took the time to make each member a
custom promotional circular with their name and address on it. That took a
long time! Just another way for our members to make money with the
Once A Month Association
program. If you are in the OAMA and would like an early preview of the
circular or would like to order advertising check it out here:

The ice is still moving on the mighty Susquehanna River that runs through our
back yard here at the Blue Bird Cottage. It really surprises me that it hasn't
frozen over as it usually does this time of the year. However, we have had a
lot of high water lately and I'm beginning to think that may be the reason.
Now that warmer weather is here, (of course I don't think the warmer weather
will stay around that long), it may not freeze solid at all this year. If that
happens, it will be the first time that it didn't since we moved here in 1984.
It's okay with me though as I really don't look forward to the spring break
up. That causes a lot of flooding at times.
Well, I still have a lot of "stuff" that must be finished today before my
daily trip to the post office.... so for me it's back to work, and YOU,
YOU have a GREAT day!!!

T.G.I.F.
It's another beautiful, sunny, but very cold day here at the Blue Bird Cottage
in Central Pennsylvania. Really cold! It went down to almost zero here last
night! For around here, that's cold!!!
Yesterday I apologized for uploading the wrong pages because when I opened up
my site yesterday morning instead of seeing Wednesday, January 26th I saw
pages from July 2004! I thought to myself, boy I must have REALLY screwed up.
So I got the right pages loaded back up and added Thursday, January 27, 2005,
yesterday's post, and everything seemed to be working fine. Actually a couple
of times yesterday I even went to this post to check on a few things. Last
night I came here to upload the joke page for today and low and behold
Thursday's post was missing and the latest post was Wednesday's. I couldn't
believe it... what the heck had happened...??? I thought, oh well, I'll reload
it. Well that proved to be impossible as all I got get was weird error
readings that I was "out of disk space", or "some of your files could not be
properly posted".... I tried both of my other computers to load the
latest page and got the same errors. Finally I threw up my hands and went on
line in a "chat session" with a tech at the company that hosts my site on
their servers. After about 20 minutes they admitted there was a problem
with the server and that they were working on it. Although they could not give
me an estimate of when it would take to be repaired, they did say they would
repair it. I left my computers on 'til late last night in the hopes that I
could square away my site before I went to bed but it never happened. Now this
morning, I uploaded this page the way it should have been with yesterday's
post and it did upload okay. As I have no idea what was wrong with the server,
I still have my fingers crossed that all will work now okay and that later on
today the posted page just won't change on it's own like it did yesterday.
As I always say, these computers are great as long as they are working
properly but when they go don't, and start to do their own thing, they
can drive you nuts! I can only hope all is okay now and it will work. I'll be
monitoring it all this weekend to make sure all is okay.
The fun never stops, does it?????
I won't be taking this weekend off as I have too much to finish before the end
of the month which is Monday.... I still must get all the
OAMA "stuff", the Newsletter, Monthly Member Benefit Directory,
Statements, and Checks, etc.,
done by the end of the month. This month, also, I must print out a new issue
of our
OAMA Quarterly, Dealer Directory. I'm also working on another new, FREE
dealership for our
OAMA members. I'm hoping to have that done as well to go out in this
month's packages. So like I said, I'm in for a long weekend for sure!
I think our squirrels that have been visiting our back deck are really happy
that we've been putting out food for them. Now we also have quite a few birds
stopping by to feast on the grains.. With the snow cover I guess they
are not having a good time trying to find food. We even had a revisit from the
2 crows I mentioned the other day. Boy, the squirrels and those crows have no
love lost for each other.... Especially the squirrels.... I think the
crows are deathly afraid of the squirrels but they still try to steal some of
the grain for themselves... I guess an empty belly can find a lot of courage!
Well, I do have a lot to get done here in my home office before my weekend
gets off to a start, so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU
have a GREAT weekend!!!!!

It's a beautiful sunny but
very cold day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. Yep,
apparently we're back in a cold spell again here.
Sorry about yesterday, as I must have "zigged" when I should have "zagged" and
I uploaded the wrong page. I uploaded from last July! I didn't become aware of
it until this morning. I've corrected the error and I will work to see
that it doesn't happen again. I've went back over things a half dozen times in
my mind and I just can't figure out how that happened. At any rate right now
you should be reading today's post, January 27, 2005 and not last summers
post. Again, I'm sorry........
We did get our shopping done yesterday and boy am I ever glad. I'd sooner run
all over the place with the temps in the mid 30s than today when were not even
supposed to reach 30 degrees. It was a great day yesterday for running around
from store to store getting our shopping done.
The last place we stopped yesterday was
ALDI'S. If you're not familiar with
ALDI'S it's like a discount food store and they have great bargains on
just about everything. To give you an idea we buy our wheat bread there for
59˘ a loaf! A pound of grape tomatoes was less than a buck. Bananas are 30˘ a
pound, and it goes on and on. They also have some other things on sale from
time to time, like toys, electronics, and various household goods. When we
were ready to check out I ran into a sale on a Sony Wireless Stereo Headphone
System 900 MHz for only $19.95! They were marked down from the $39.95 they
were selling them for Christmas price, (Which was already a terrific price). I
grabbed a pair. When we went through the checkout the girl said, "You do know
these Headphones are $9.95 don't you?" Betty said yes as I was loading the
cart. It then hit me, did you say $9.95 I asked? "Yes", she said. Boy, I was
ecstatic! After we went to the car, I told Betty that I should have bought
another one for that price. She said go back in and get it and that's what I
did. I checked it out and the checker girl asked me to get her one before they
were all gone as she could not leave her post. I fetched her one and there was
only one left. I should have bought it! Today I looked up the price on the WEB
and the list price on them is $99.95 and one place had them on sale for
$79.95. I found them at a "refurbished" site for only $59.95. Can you believe
it, I got them for less than 10 bucks each. I think I'll keep the one
for a gift for someone. It will make a GREAT gift! Anyway, check to see if you
have an ALDI'S in your area and always
check out their specials!
I am really pleased with my home business this week as the mail load has been
really good and things are going along just fine.
Our
$2=SUCCESS downline builder that feeds the
Tape of the Month program is doing very well. Our Phase VI will end on the
31st of this month. Might be a good time for you to jump in on this one and
start to build your own downline for a nice residual income check each and
every month. I know I enjoy mine and it's growing each month.
Well, I have a ton of "stuff" to get done before my daily trip to the post
office so for me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a
GREAT Thursday!!!

It's another cloudy morning
here in Central Pennsylvania. They're calling for a bit of snow this
afternoon. Goody, just what we need!
We've been in a warm spell around here for the last couple of days. It's
actually above freezing. Not much above, but we'll take what we can get! I can
tell it's warmer as the furnace has not been running as much as it has been
for the last several weeks. Boy, I'll REALLY be glad when spring comes this
year. We'll know pretty soon when that will happen as it will soon be
groundhog day here in Pennsylvania and
Punxsutawney Phil our official weather forecaster for the length and
duration of winter will let us know just how many more weeks we can expect.
Yeah, thank goodness Phil knows his
stuff and we don't have to depend on these unreliable TV weather people. I'm
looking forward to February 2nd to find out how long we'll have to put up with
this miserable weather. I've got my fingers crossed but only Phil will be able
to tell us for sure on the 2nd.
The ice is still moving on the mighty Susquehanna River that runs though our
back yard. With the cold weather we've been having I find this hard to believe
but it is. Here are some great shots above and below the river at Duncannon
which is only about 4 miles up river from where I live.
Susquehanna River Most of
these shots don't have any ice on them though as the pictures were taken much
earlier. It will give you and idea of the river that is part of our lives here
at the Blue Bird Cottage though.
Snow this afternoon, or no snow, we must take some time today to get some
shopping done. We've been putting it off lately as every time we turn around
it seems like it's snowing or they are calling for it to snow.. Today is
the day though as we are running low on all over our supplies. I'm not looking
forward to it.... but someone's got to do it and we don't have a Maid or
Butler so I guess it's up to us.
It's been a good week for my mail order business and it's brought plenty of
work for me to get done. I'll not get caught up today but there are some
things I must get done before we scoot out of here on our shopping trip so for
me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
Wednesday!!!

It's cloudy this morning
here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. It' actually supposed
to go above freezing here today! Well, not that much, about 34 degrees, but
above none the less. It's been so long since it's done that, I almost forgot
what it feels like. I'm just going to enjoy it!
I made me trip to the ophthalmologist, (eye doctor), yesterday, finally. It
turned out pretty good, I think. I was worried as my eyes the last several
months seemed to be going "downhill" as even things far away were starting to
get blurry. Normally over the last 10 years, I just needed help for reading
and for seeing my computer screen but all of a sudden, it seemed it was just
more than trouble reading. As I have type 2 diabetes I was concerned that the
diabetes was the cause of my fairly recent problems. Well, it seems that the
diabetes has of yet not caused any damage to my eyes. The doctor said that I'm
getting older and they are just plain, starting to wear out. You know, OLD
AGE. Well that makes me feel much better, (I think.) So now with my
prescription in hand, I must find somewhere to get a pair of glasses. That
shouldn't be too hard. The worst is over. Thank goodness.
After the eye doctor appointment even though it was snowing to beat the band,
Betty and I decided to stop at our friend, Jason's, Chinese restaurant to eat
before we headed home. Jason, (Chinese name, Lan Tien), told us that business
had been really bad because of all the snow lately. I'll bet he's glad it's
getting so warm, (34 degrees above), today! But he was still happy. I don't
think I've ever seen Jason sad. He has a great attitude and even if I'm
feeling down, a stop to see Jason will pick me up for sure. He always has a
smile and a happy Hello for us.
There was an interesting article in our daily paper, The Patriot News, out of
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the other day that was very interesting to me and
may be to those of you who have ever had the opportunity in the past to do
battle with hornets around your home. The article is entitled, HORNETS DON'T
LIVE IN NESTS IN WINTER. I really found that interesting as I often wondered
where the heck they went in the winter. For the answer to this and to read a
great article click here:
Hornets don't
live in nests in winter. This writer, Marcus Schneck also has other
interesting articles that have appeared in the paper at this site... check 'em
all out.
I know as it's going to be warmer today our two squirrels that have been
frequenting our back deck the last several weeks, will be out there today and
Betty is already preparing "stuff" to put out for them to eat. The other day
it was really funny as 2 crows happened to discover the "food" on the deck as
well. They hung around for hours every once in a while jumping down to peck
some food and steal it from the squirrels. The squirrels were not happy about
that and were constantly running the crows off. They would just fly up to the
railing, in plain site, and wait for another chance to "steal" some food! Even
though the crows were much larger than the squirrels, the squirrels were not a
bit afraid of them. Of course if you've ever been around squirrels when they
are eating and have found a good treasure trove of food, I think they would
fight off an elephant if they had to. A few years ago we used to have a
clothes line going through the back yard. This was before we built the deck.
It was in the winter, and a very hard winter at that, we decided to put up a
bird feeder to help out the poor birds. We placed the feeder in the middle of
the clothesline with a small piece of cord tied to the line to secure it. We
had a ball the next several weeks watching the squirrels get to that trove of
birdseed. They would go out on the clothes line, "hand over hand" and then
hang from their tails to reach the goodies and "raid" the feeder. They would
get so interested in their feeding eventually they would forget that they were
holding on by their tails and ease up and would fall to the ground. It would
take them awhile until they could get back to the feeder and resume their
eating. It was a real ball to watch them. Much better than TV!
The end of January is drawing to a close and that means a lot of work for me
to get done... All the
OAMA "stuff", the Newsletter, Monthly Member Benefit Directory,
Statements, and Checks, etc.,
must be done by the end of the month along with a ton of other "stuff". Also,
I must mail out some promotional packages today.
As yesterday was Monday and I didn't get to the post office on Saturday, I had
a Great mail day. I've only sorted about a fourth of it so I must also get
that done before I start another project. So for me, it's back to work,
and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Tuesday!!!

It's a sunny morning but a
very cold one here again in Central Pennsylvania. It's not supposed to warm up
much here today. The river that runs through our back yard is full of ice but
is, surprisingly still moving.
My cold is finally breaking up and I did get some decent sleep last night. The
first night since Friday a week ago. I'm still coughing some and still am not
completely up to par but I do feel a lot better. I had to cancel my eye
appointment last Monday because of my cold but have it rescheduled for this
afternoon and I'll keep it.
Boy lately, the last few years, I've been amazed at our weird weather
patterns. Every time I think I've seen it all, something new crops up. I can't
remember a cold spell lasting as long as the one we're in right now here in
Central Pennsylvania. We've had it get down to near zero before, but lately
it's been every night!
Our new furnace has been keeping up with this cold weather... it's really
"chewing" up the coal, but it IS keeping up. Boy, am I ever glad we picked
this year to get a new one with a much higher BTU heat output. With our old
one we'd be burning extra kerosene heaters just to keep it comfortable.
It was snowing so much on Saturday that I never did get to the post office so
today should be an extra large mail day. I'm looking forward to getting there
today just to see how much is crammed into my extra large post office box! Did
I mention, I just love mail? I'm just like a kid opening up a gift when I open
my PO Box every week day. Oh well, each to his own.
I sure got myself into the right business when I chose mail order to make a
living. I like putting promotional mailings together and I like even more
getting orders, inquiries, just plain mail, and oh yeah, MONEY in the mail
each day! Yep, for years I had to get up and drive to work. In the winter I
froze getting the car ready to go and then hoped that the traffic wasn't too
bad. I used to sit in traffic for over an hour each night getting home until I
finally "wised up" and was fortunate enough to be able to work an extra hour
each night until the traffic cleared up some before I left for home. That was
sure better than getting "caught" in traffic each night.
Well, this is Monday, and I do have some things to get done before I head out
for my eye appointment and my trip to the post office so for me, I'd better
get back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Monday!!!

T.G.I.F.
It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Central Pennsylvania with record cold
temperatures. Just a prelude to a big winter snow storm that's supposed to
begin tomorrow morning. We're supposed to get up to a foot of snow tomorrow on
Saturday and into Sunday. It sure doesn't look like we'll be going anywhere
over the weekend. I'll have to get to the post office tomorrow morning before
the snow starts.
We have lots of ice on the mighty Susquehanna River that runs through our back
yard but it's still moving. The extremely cold temperatures that's in store
for us over the weekend however may put a stop to the flowing ice. We'll just
have to wait and see. We've had a gaggle of geese hanging out in our back
yard. About 12 to as high as 25 of them have been sticking around for the last
several days. I think because it's easy for them to get out of the water at
our place. We're still feeding the 2 squirrels that have been frequenting our
back deck. We've been giving them toast bread and a mixture of grains and
peanuts that I bought at the feed store. Every morning we look out, they're
sitting out there waiting on feeding time which in their case, usually lasts
most of the day! Yes, we have them spoiled and their winter, compared to other
squirrels in the neighborhood, will be a pretty easy one.
Thank goodness we got a load of coal in not too long ago so if we get snowed
in, we'll have plenty of heat. I am going to check my small generator and make
sure it's ready to start in case we lose the electricity. You never know. I'll
fill the Jeep's tank up today so we'll have that to fall back on.... then all
we can do is wait for it to come. So far they are not calling for a lot of
drifting or anything so even a foot of snow should not keep us from not
getting out of our lane. We'll see and I'll let you know Monday just how we
made out.
Business has really picked up this week as it usually does in January when you
do most of your business is done through the mail. I think it's because a lot
of people spend more time in their homes in the winter and take the time to
read their mail and answer ads, etc. At least that's my theory.
I do have a bunch of stuff to get done, here in my home office, before my
weekend begins, so for me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have
a GREAT weekend!!!

Thursday, January 20, 2005
It's a cloudy and cold
morning here in central Pennsylvania. We are supposed to see a bit of
sun today with some snow flurries. All in all not a bad day.
Well, today is Inaugural day in Washington D.C. and on TV this morning it
looked like instead of preparing for a speech, etc. they were preparing for
the start of a war! I didn't even know they had that may policemen in
Washington let along all the other lawmen that were there.
If you've been reading this daily blurb for any length since I started it in
2002 you know that I couldn't get though today without making a comment or two
here in my daily post about the Inaugural today.
I really think it's a travesty to spend 40 million dollars to swear our
president in for another 4 years. What would be the harm to swear him in from
the White House and just televise it? Now days I just don't see why we need to
waste 40 million dollars of the taxpayers money for a ritual that was popular
back when no one could see the Inaugural or hear it, but times have changed.
The only reason I can see they need it now days is vanity. Why else?
Let's face it, the 40 million dollars can be well spent in other needed areas
such as better equipment and armor for the Humvees that are troops are using
to defend themselves, (and us), over in Iraq. Not only that, believe it or not
we still have children in the good ole U.S. that go hungry each and every day!
They could use that money as well.... Yes, many better places to lay
that money out to. Heck we could actually use it toward the National Debt!
Oops.... I'm sorry, I guess that's a bad word.
Why would I even suggest saving some money because our country owes so much?
After all, the government can always print more money. It will be worth a
little less, well okay, a LOT less, but aren't we all used to that? Inflation,
am I the only one that worries about it? I guess not as our representatives in
Washington tell us all the time they are working on it. Well, excuse me if I
don't believe them anymore. There's only one way that anything will done right
in Washington and that's if the taxpayers take over and do it. I still say we
should fire the whole darn bunch of them and start over! Let's teach the new
ones the "facts of life" before they start to "do their jobs." Like when they
get old they're not going to get paid full, "inflated" salaries any more.
They'll get Social Security retirement just like the rest of us. Also, they
won't get paid medical for literally "EVERYTHING"... let them do with
Medicare, just like the rest of us. Boy, can use imagine how fast the Social
Security System would get cleaned up and put in order if our "mouths" in
Washington had to survive on what the rest of us in the country are supposed
to do. I'll bet you that the 40 million dollar Inaugurals would stop
immediately if it had to come out of their pockets! Yeah, I think I would
actually bet money on that one!
Oh well my opinions are not going to change what happens today, all I can do
is hope that are younger generations coming along can square it away before
we're all out begging the rest of the world for handouts.
I can predict this though with a bit of accuracy..... If you're pretty young
yet, you'd better learn some Spanish if you want to survive in this country!!!
One good thing to write about in today's post is that I received my commission
check from the
SFI, (Six Figure Income)
company I'm in yesterday, and my check was almost exactly double of what it
was last month!!! Yep, I'm a happy camper this month. They changed their
commission structure the beginning of this year and next month my commission
check should be even more as a result! (Without any extra sales from new
affiliates!)
I still have my "nasty" cold... (I just can't seem to shake it".....)
Not much sleep again last night. I think it's moving from my head to my chest,
if that's possible. At any rate, I'm hoping that it starts to break up today.
In the meantime, for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a
GREAT Thursday!!!

It's snowing right now as I
type this post here in Central Pennsylvania! Not only is it snowing but it's
very cold outside as well. At the moment it's about 15 degrees above. They
claim we're only supposed to get about 2 inches so it shouldn't get too bad.
I don't plan on going out no more than necessary my dose of the cold is still
"in full bloom!" In other words, I'm still sicker than a dog! This darn cold
started setting in by Saturday afternoon and I thought for sure by now I would
at least be starting to "shake" it but no such luck.
I was up most of the night again, coughing & hacking, blowing my nose, and
just plain being miserable. I remember when I used to "shake a cold in about 3
days, but I guess those days are gone.
After the mail yesterday, (a ton of it), I have work stacked high on my desks
that I'm going to tackle as soon as I upload this post. I think though, I
won't be up too long before I'll have to take a break as I feel like going
back to bed already, or at least lying back on my recliner in the living room
and trying to get a nap in.
This morning we had about 30 geese and about 7 ducks in our back yard along
the river that runs through our back yard. The snow was blowing on them and
even they looked like they had enough of this miserable weather. The river is
about half way down into it's banks for the high water last week. Thank
goodness the river is not frozen over as of yet. With the extremely cold
weather we've had it's a wonder it hasn't. I guess because the current is too
swift. But it's getting low enough that the current is slowing down and I
think I'll soon be waking up to an ice covered river. When that happens with
high water, our back yard, or most of it, will stay under the ice until Spring
breaks.
Sounds like all I'm doing this morning is complaining. I guess that's true...
Between this darn cold and the weather I guess I'm not too much on the up side
today.. Sorry....
At any rate, I'm going to try to get something done so for me it's back to
work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

Clear and sunny here in
Central Pennsylvania this morning but very, very cold! It was 10 degrees above
zero when I got up this morning! For around here, that's really cold! It's
already warmed up to 14 above now so it's getting pretty toasty.
I still have a miserable cold and didn't get much sleep last night again. I
think, (and hope), it's starting to break up in my chest though and if that's
true, hopefully in a day or so I'll be feeling much better.. I'm sure looking
forward to that!
The 2 squirrels that's been frequenting our back deck were just at my office
door looking in, probably because we haven't put any food out for them today
as of yet.. I'll never understand how animals can put up with this dog
gone cold weather. But, then again I could never understand how the geese down
at the river look like they're enjoying themselves swimming around the ice
floating down the river! It's amazing!
Today should be a GREAT day for my trip to the post office as with the
holiday, plus the weekend my PO Box should be over flowing! That's okay with
me as I love to get mail. Especially when there's orders and inquiries in it!
I should be very busy this afternoon. Not that I don't have plenty to get done
here in the office now as I've been goofing off with this darn cold and have
hardly accomplished anything around here in the last 2 and a half days.
I'm looking forward to receiving my commission check, in a few days, for last
month from the
SFI, (Six Figure Income)
company I'm in as last month they changed their commission structure and my
check should be much higher this month. Wow! Ain't this fun!
Click above and check this company out. You can join for FREE and they even
have FREE training to teach you how to work your business. While you're there,
watch the "video overview". That will explain the entire business in just a
few minutes.
I do have a bunch to get done before my trip to the post office today so for
me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

It's a beautiful sunny day
here in Central Pennsylvania and brrrrrrr... a cold one!
Looks like we're in for a great start of a new week here.
I hope you're off work today. Many people are as today is
Martin Luther King's
birthday. I know the post office is closed along with most government
offices but I really haven't heard of many regular businesses closed.
I had an appointment at my Ophthalmologist's
today for an eye exam as I really need new glasses. However over the weekend I
had a terrible cold set in. Saturday I didn't feel well but by Saturday night
I was feeling miserable. I didn't sleep much as I was hacking and coughing and
my sinuses were running, well just about everything was "running". Then
yesterday and last night was even worse. I called this morning to re-schedule
my appointment and the receptionist said it "was up to me" that they would
still see me. Wow, no wonder this kind of stuff gets spread around so fast. It
would be embarrassing to breathe all over the doctor and equipment and be
blowing my nose almost constantly and coughing, etc. Apparently they don't
seem to care that much. I know I wouldn't want to be around someone that's in
my present shape....
Even though I had planned to get a lot of work done today, I don't know how
much I will actually accomplish as I feel like lying back down already. Seems
like when you get older the colds, and all the other ailments, seem to be
worse when you get it. I know when I was younger I never took off work for a
cold or whatever.
I was thinking the other day who ever wrote that old saying, "Youth is wasted
on the young!", was so right. You really don't appreciate just how nice it is
when you're young until you get older and start to develop all the aches and
pains among other things. Betty and I were in a small store to do some
shopping and when we checked out, the young girl at the checkout, I'd say she
was in her early twenties, mentioned that she wished that her life was over.
Wow, I asked her why should would say something like that... She said
that her and her boyfriend had just "split" and life was just not worth living
anymore.
Yes, I remember how painful something like that was, but now, at my age, it's
kind of funny. Not hilariously funny, but still funny. Here's a young girl
with her whole life ahead of her, not a worry in the world, other than she's
feeling bad that she just "broke up" with her boyfriend wishing she was dead.
I told her to give it a few weeks and she'll feel much better when she gets a
new one, and get a new one she will. It's just that at the time, you don't
even think of a new boyfriend or girlfriend as you can only think about your
present situation.. Oh well, to be young again, and know what I know
now!!!
I sure have plenty to get done here today in my home office although I don't
have to worry about going to the post office, so before I feel any worse, it's
back to work for me, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

T.G.I.F.
Believe it or not the sun is shining this morning! The first we've seen it
around here in Central Pennsylvania in about a week. All night we had
thunderstorms and it really dumped the rain on us. There is a lot of local
small stream flooding and I don't know how the big river, the mighty
Susquehanna, that runs though our back yard, will be doing until we find out
how much rain they got up state from us. I saw on the news this morning that
Ohio, right beside us, really had a lot of flooding yesterday and over night
and is still not "out of the woods." Believe me, I know from experience, that
flooding is not fun for anyone involved. The best to all those who are now
going thorough it as like in Ohio the temperatures are diving and it's going
to get really cold. That's really going to aggravate the situation.
I had trouble sleeping last night so I spent a little over an hour keying in
some names and address on my laptop in the living room. I spent between one
and two AM this morning. That seemed to make me tired enough to grab some
zzzzzzzzz's but I still feel lousy this morning and it feels like I'm getting
a cold. Right now it's all in my head, (well let's face it there's plenty of
room there for it!) I started taking some decongestant immediately and hope
that it may help. With the change in the weather lately and every place we
seem to stop someone is fighting a cold, it's no wonder I caught one. My
resistance according to my doctor is just about zero. Oh well, if I got one,
it will have to run it's course. In my case, that's usually a couple of weeks
longer than average.
I wish I had Betty's resistance as she rarely gets a cold and if she does, she
usually shakes it in a couple of days. She does take a lot of vitamin and
mineral supplements though. Apparently they work as not only is she 20 times
more healthy than me but her hair is just starting to turn gray. Mine started
to turn gray when I was about 42. Now I'm 61 and about half gray. She is 14
years older than me and hers is just starting to turn! Yeah, I'm starting to
think that all of those vitamin and mineral supplements ARE doing her good.
She knows what to take though as she is always studying and reading health
magazines and books. She love them and that's her "thing". I guess if you are
going to have a "thing", it may as well be one that's going to help you
stay healthy.
I'm getting a lot done here this week in my home office as I sure as heck
couldn't get much done outdoors because of all the rain this week. All the
Christmas "stuff" is down and packed up and ready to move back up into the
attic. I'll get that done today.
I still have a ton of "stuff" I'd like to finish before my weekend starts,
here in the office, so as I look at the "piles" on my desks, for me it's back
to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend and the
computer and I will see you, right back here, on Monday morning! (No I'm not
taking "Martin Luther King" day off.)

An yet another rainy
morning here in Central Pennsylvania and they, (the weather bureau), are
issuing flood warnings for small streams and rivers. They are not calling for
the mighty Susquehanna river that runs through our back yard to flood, (yet),
however, so I guess we'll be on the safe side.
It's supposed to go up into the 50s today and then the temps are supposed to
start dropping overnight and we'll be getting the weather to the west of us
right now. Chicago's temperatures yesterday at this time were 50 degrees
higher than they are now! That's quite a drop and that's what is heading our
way as I type. I'm not looking forward to it. I've already got the craps of
Winter and I'm ready for Spring. Maybe I should revise that, I'm ready for
Spring, but I'm NOT ready for the Spring rains.. I think we're getting those
right now!
Betty took the Christmas tree down yesterday and is still cleaning up
Christmas "stuff"... I hate to see it go. We could have a tree up all
year as far as I'm concerned but Betty gets "tired" of the decorations.... Oh
well, Christmas is only 347 days from today! That's not too long I guess.
I must get time to get outdoors today to re-cover the boat for winter..
The tarp blew off the other day and now the boat has some water in it. I must
siphon it out and re-cover it and put a larger tarp on it. I was waiting for
some clear weather, but as of now, I just don't think that's going to happen.
If I don't get it done and the temps drop tonight, the water will freeze and
I'm afraid it will be there until Spring! It's too much weight in the boat as
I have it up on two picnic table benches and they are already straining in the
middle. So that's my main outdoor project for today, rain or no rain.
Later on I'll be loading boxes of Christmas decorations up into the attic as
well so between all that, I'm going to be working in my office. I still have a
ton of stuff to get done before my regular trip to the post office.
I saw 5 deer across our lane, straight across from my office door last evening
in a small field. Apparently they made it though our deer season here in
Pennsylvania. I'm really glad as they all looked pretty small and I doubt any
of them was much more than a year old. I like watching nature's animals so I'm
a bit more than glad we have a few deer hanging around our place.
I must get out some small promotional mailings today and also some advertising
orders so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
day!

It's another cold rainy
morning here in Central Pennsylvania. It's supposed to go up into the lower
50s today but I don't think we're supposed to see any sun or darn little of
it. I just shudder to think what we would have outside if all of this rain
would have been snow. I just cannot remember such a wet year here in
Pennsylvania. All summer long all we had was rain. Heck in September we even
had a flood! Oh well, maybe this year will be better as far as the weather
goes... I sure hope so....
The weather doesn't seem to affect Betty's fish, (guppies), and as it seems
they have a new batch of babies in the fish tank almost every week here
lately. She started out with just a few and now there must be over 70 in her
20 gallon, (long), tank! It is a good "well balanced" tank though with a
bottom cleaner, a white catfish, that is always working to keep it clean down
there and also an "algae eater", (a Plecostomus), that takes care of all the
algae on the sides and bottom of the tank. The rest of the fish are colorful
guppies. With everyone doing their jobs the tank only need minimal
maintenance. The tank is on a shelving right near the kitchen table so when we
eat, we can watch the fish swimming around. For some odd reason it seems to
relax me when I watch them.. Feed 'em twice a day and Betty cleans their
filter about once a month and I think once a year she takes everything out of
the tank and cleans it. That's pretty low maintenance for keeping "pets" in
the house. I just love 'em. They don't bark and make noise.... they don't
"beg" to go out..... and they never overeat..... and their food and
upkeep is relatively cheap in comparison to other "pets".....
Talking about pets.... the squirrels out side on the back porch and adjacent
deck have really got a mess out there going.... and that's being kind..
If it EVER dries up some I'm going to spend some time cleaning it up...
Boy they ARE messy eaters....
As far as business goes, everything is going pretty smoothly and I just
received my monthly commission check from the
Elements program and it's
up this month. Well it seems like it's growing each and every month. I was a
bit surprised that it did grow some through the holiday season though..
Well, I have a ton of "stuff" to get done here in my office before my usual
trip to the post office today so for me it's back to work, and YOU,
YOU have a GREAT day!!!!

It's a rainy, snowy day
here in Central Pennsylvania. A cold front moved in over night and today were
supposed to have falling weather. You know like, snow, sleet, rain... etc..
It's then supposed to warm back up around these parts... later in the
week.
I still haven't been able to snap a picture of the two squirrels that frequent
our back porch and the adjoining back deck. They love to come up there and eat
anything we put out there but are really camera shy! I stopped at the feed
store on Saturday and bought what the guy calls and "animal mixture" of grains
and other "stuff" to feed them. I then took an old tray and put some on that
and sat it out on the deck for them. The mixture contains, all kinds of
grains, sun flower seeds, and even peanuts. Boy! I've never seen such messy
eaters! A lot of it is my fault as I gave them too much to start with. Oh
well, live and learn................
Lot's of work to get done today as yesterday was Monday and that's the day of
the week we receive the most mail... I'm not quite done sorting and
answering the inquiries and orders and it looks like that alone will take most
of today. I'm also re-working some older ads of mine as this month is the
month to get out a lot of new advertising to start the year with. I really
look forward to a GREAT year for my home business.

It's another cloudy day
here in Central Pennsylvania. Although the weather people are calling for the
sun to peek though today, I'll have to see it to believe it. They said the
same thing for yesterday and I saw not a bit of sun around here.
We got out and about on Saturday an ended up out all day. We had a lot of
shopping to get done and Saturday is a BAD day to shop because every body and
their brother are out shopping as well. We usually don't shop on Saturday as
we do have the prerogative to shop on a week day. (One of the perks of having
a home business.) But for some odd reason it just didn't work out this time.
At any rate we did get it all done but didn't get home until after way after
dark.
Yesterday was just miserable and cold out so I did get a lot done here in the
office. I finally got a couple of 1 inch camera/ready ads typeset and one 3" X
5" finished... Hopefully I'll get some more done this week.
Betty was going to take our Christmas tree down yesterday but she didn't feel
well most of the day so that didn't get done. It's okay with me because I
enjoy the tree and it could stay up all year long as far as I'm concerned. No
such luck however as she said it's coming down Tuesday for sure. Oh well....
if it must, it must.
I've also been working on my mailing lists and have just completed cleaning
1,000 names and address of a great Opportunity and MLM list. If you're in a
mail order business or MLM endeavor and need some good, clean responsive
names, I'm making this list available for the next several weeks only, (until
February 28th!). Click here,
Hot Name List,
for more information.
It's supposed to warm up here in Central Pennsylvania this week way above
normal. That in itself is unusual as we have
Farm Show week in Harrisburg and normally we have a lot of bad weather and
snow that week. It's almost tradition. Apparently not so this week at all.
It's just fine with me as I have a few things I'd like to get done out in the
yard this week and this may just give me that opportunity. (If it can stop
raining that is.) I'd hate to think how deep the snow would be if all this
rain would have been snow over the last few weeks!
I have a ton of "stuff" to still finish before my trip to the post office so
for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
Monday!!!

T.G.I.F.
The sun is trying to peek through this morning and it looks like the rain is
over, at least for today. It's been really dreary here the last few days. It
will feel good to see some decent weather around here for a change.
It's hard to believe that a week has flown by already in January. For some
reason days seem to go by fast at the beginning of the months for me. I don't
know why but it just seems that way.
I turned my computers on, here in my home office, about an hour ago to find
another fax in my fax machine. Nothing but advertising. I wish I could
disconnect the darn fax machine and toss it into the garbage! Every 12 to 15
faxes only one is an order. The rest are "junk" faxes. People use MY fax
machine to try and sell me stock, programs, products, just about anything you
can sell by mail and it's sickening. I must maintain an extra phone number,
buy an maintain a fax machine, keep it supplied with paper etc., for what? For
stupid dips to send me THEIR advertisements? That's bull crap! Do they
actually think that I would buy ANYTHING from them after they use my "stuff"
to sell it to me? Not on your life! If I ask for more information about
anything by fax, that's different. (That has NEVER happened.) At least then
I'm actually asking for someone to use my fax to supply me with more
information.
When the faxes have a phone number at the bottom of them to "opt out" I always
call to tell them to take me off their lists that I NEVER asked to be on in
the first place. Some even put a fax number there for me to FAX them to take
my number off. Oh sure, I never asked for nothing to start with and now I'm
not only supposed to take my time to fax them but spend for a long distance
call as well...... I sometimes wonder if it's even worth the effort to
"opt out" off their mailing lists and the amount of incoming faxes don't seem
to slow down.
Who are these idiots??? I think they are related to the Simps who "spam"
us to death in our Email boxes. The only way they will stop is if EVERYONE
stops buying ANYTHING from any of their "advertisements". As long as they can
get one person out of a thousand, these dips will continue to FAX and Email us
with their nonsensical ads! I don't buy anything from the spam and I wouldn't
even if it was the best deal in the world! I figure that I get all this spam
every day, can you imagine the spam and faxes I'd get if I actually responded
to any of it? I'm afraid to think about it!
I have no idea in the world why anyone, (retailer) or otherwise, would use the
FAX machine to promote or sell their product anyway. Can't they see that the
FAX machine is just about obsolete? You can send someone an URL address and
have them go there and present your offer in "full color" on as many pages as
it takes without any extra expense of phone calls, fax paper, ink or anything.
God, how long is is going to take these idiots to "get up to date?"
AT any rate that's my biggest gripe for this week. I am seriously considering
getting rid of my fax machine even though I know I'll lose a few sales. But
I'm just trying to determine if the sales I get with it are worth the extra
expense and aggravation of owning and maintaining the FAX machine? I'm going
to give it some very serious thought.
Things are going well, here at my home office and if all goes well I think I
might even get most of this weekend off. Of course last weekend, after New
Years Eve, we, Betty and I, worked Saturday and Sunday to get the end of the
month "stuff" done so we could mail it Monday.
It rained too hard yesterday to even think about getting a picture of our
squirrels out on the back deck as I had mentioned in yesterday's post but I'll
try and get one or two over this weekend and post them up here.
Looks like we might be in for a GREAT weekend around here with above normal
temperatures etc..... I'm really looking forward to it!
I do have quite a bit of "stuff" to finish up though before my weekend begins
so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT
weekend!!!

It's another rainy day here
in Central Pennsylvania and the good news is that all the snow and ice storms
passed us by yesterday and overnight. We just escaped with the some rain.
North of us they weren't so lucky.
Betty has fed the two squirrels that frequent our back deck everyday now for
the last couple of weeks. Now if they get there in the morning and there is
not at least some dried wheat bread for them they come up to the sliding glass
door and tap on it with their little "paw" hands. They mope around and act
disappointed until we toss out some food for them. They'll run down off the
deck and as soon as we close the door they're back to get "their" food. Once
in a while one will decide that the other is getting too much and he'll run
him around for awhile. Then they both settle back down to eating. I've been
trying to get a picture of them and as soon as I do I'll post it up here.
Last week we had about 2 to 4 large crows that would come and sit on the
banister going around the deck and jump down every once in a while and steal
some of the squirrels "stuff." This didn't set too good with the squirrels and
they would "run off" each crow. The crows were actually larger than the darn
squirrels but were afraid of the squirrels as they lunged at the crows. This
actually went on for about 3 days and the crows must have found another place
to dine as we have not seen them back here since. I really don't think that
they ever got that much as squirrels are not known to "share" their food with
anyone, not even themselves, let alone a different species!
I downloaded a cool little program several days ago and I'm VERY pleased with
it. I wanted to try it for awhile before I told you about it but now I'm sure
you may like it too. It's a little reminder program that takes up little or no
room on your desktop and uses VERY little memory to operate. You can place
birthday's, doctor's appointments, the kids and your appointments and
activities in it and have it start to remind you days before the event occurs.
Like I said it's a very small program and easy to download. It's FREEWARE so
there is no charge what-so-ever for it. Read about it and grab your copy of it
here: MiniMinder, it's a handy little
thing and I'm sure you'll like it.
To my mail-order friends and associates:

It's raining here in
Central Pennsylvania on this Wednesday morning. There is hope though as by
this afternoon it's supposed to turn into sleet and freezing rain! UGH! Oh
well, I guess it's to be expected, after all, it IS winter.
Betty and I did get down to the Harrisburg Hospital yesterday to see her
granddaughter, before she went into the operating room. She was supposed to go
between 1:30 and 2:00 PM so we busted our humps to get there by 1:00 so we
could spend at least a half hour with her. We were there until way after 2:00
and the surgeon came and said they were running late so we wished her our best
and left as we had not eaten lunch yet. Her girlfriend had gone with her and
she promised to call us to let us know that all had gone well. By 4 PM we were
on our way home and had stopped at Weis store to pick up a few items when I
got a call on my cell that they had just taken her into surgery. Wow! I guess
they were running late. A long story short, Betty got a call from her
other granddaughter the sister of the one getting the operation that all had
gone well and she was resting in the recovery room. That was around 7 PM last
night.. Nothing happens fast at the hospital. If you're going
there even for an out patient job, you may as well figure you're going to be
there most of the day!
I did get home in time to sort and go through most of my mail but not much
time for anything else. Needless to say, I didn't get any of what I had
planned to do finished. I'll be playing "catch-up" most of today. With the
lousy weather outside, I'll be in the office all day and most of the evening
except when I make a short trip to the post office. It's just as well as I do
have a lot to finish...
Business is going well for me so early in the year. I received my commission
check from the
Tape of the Month program
and it's sure going to come in very handy for Christmas bills! The program is
going good and my check is up some from last month as the
our
$2=SUCCESS downline builder that feeds the
Tape of the Month program is doing very well because some folks are
joining the main
Tape of the Month program early and are not waiting until this latest
Phase VI runs out at the end of January! If you'd like an extra, "Passive
Income" check each month, click here
$2=SUCCESS, print out the one page entry and send along with only $2 to
get involved. That's how I got started and you can do the same. It does take
some investment, (darn little), and some time, (ditto), but if you can give up
a half hour of your TV watching time in the evenings, by this time next year,
you'll have your own nice commission check coming each and every month!
Well, I do have quite a bit to catch up on today, so for me, it's back to
work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

Cloudy again here in
Central Pennsylvania with above normal temperatures in the 40s. Looks like
we're in for a GREAT day!
My home office is getting ahead of me again. What I mean is that it looks like
a hurricane hit it! I just can't figure it out. From time to time I'll
straighten it out and look at it and say, "I'm not going to let it get so
messy again." That lasts about a week and then downhill it goes.. I'm just too
busy to put this away or that away and before I know it I can't see the desks
for the clutter. Betty's always riding me about getting things in order and I
know I should and I still put it off with the excuse that this or that needs
done first and I'm behind doing this or that and that's more important...
So I guess you know what I'm building up to.... Today as soon as I get caught
up with a few things I must get to this messy office.. Another problem I have
though is that every time I get "things in order" it's not long until I need
something and can't find it. Why is it that if things are laying all over the
place you can always find what you are looking for but as soon as you "rid up"
you can't find a darn thing?
It seems that way anyway unless I'm using that for an excuse so I don't have
to clean it up... hmmmmm...
Hopefully I'll get some time today to "rework and rewrite" some ads that I
need done so I can send out some camera/ready ads for advertising in various
publications. I've been needing to do that for quite awhile.. Maybe I
should come back to this post off and on throughout the day to remind me just
what I need to get done..... Boy, I'm pitiful!
To top the whole dilemma off, Betty's granddaughter is going to have an
operation today at the hospital and I'm sure Betty wants to visit her BEFORE
she goes, "under the knife".... That will take a couple of hours right
out of the middle of the day. She's still deciding if she wants to go or
not... So I'll just begin working and "roll with the flow"...
Our main hospital is in Harrisburg, the "big" city, near where I live. Trouble
is it's a bitch to find parking there. They have built 2 parking garages and
it seems like no matter when I go there the darn things are always just about
full. Once you do find a parking place you have to walk several blocks just to
get into the Hospital.... What a hassle... They used to have a
nice hospital that was "out of town" but very near Harrisburg, that was nice
to go to as it had plenty of parking area and was in a nice quiet setting. But
when they "chose" a main hospital, they picked the one in the city! Stupid!
I'm sure they had a good reason, I just can't figure it out. We really don't
have enough hospitals in our area for the immediate population. They are
ALWAYS full it seems and if you need a bed, even in an emergency, you must
wait in the ER to get one, sometimes for a full day until one is available.
Believe me, I know, as I've been there. At any rate, I was just informed that
we ARE going before she goes in for her operation, as Betty just spoke with
here on the phone and she is scared. Although she's Betty's granddaughter, she
is in her early thirties but when you're scared what's age? I'm sure when
Betty is done, "lovin' her up", she'll feel much better. (I know I do
when that happens!)
Just had a phone call and it looks like the day is off to a good start so for
me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Tuesday!!!

It's a cloudy day here at
the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania but it's supposed to go all the
way up to 46 degrees here today! That's warm around here for January! I don't
know what they're going to blame this unusual warm weather on this time. Maybe
"global warming".... nope... that's getting to be old hat... Maybe the
Tsunami? Nope... that's too far away... that was over in the Asian
countries... An "act of god" perhaps? That's about as good as anything I
suppose... At any rate it's going to get quite warm around here today...
If it doesn't rain too much I'm going to take a nice long "heart" walk this
afternoon to take advantage of it....
Betty and I went up to our neighbors on New Year's Eve to see in the New Year
and we had a ball. A lot of nice, friendly folks were there and we had good
conversation and great food. When we got home, early in the morning, we had a
mess of messages on the phone wishing us a Happy New Year and Betty returned
all the calls with well "wishes" also. We had a pretty nice weekend and on
Saturday, New Year's Day, we went to the Chinese Restaurant to eat. We then
worked Saturday afternoon and Sunday getting done all the
OAMA "stuff", the Newsletter, Monthly Member Benefit Directory,
Statements, and Checks, etc., and all will be in this morning's mail. Still
plenty to get done today and I'll be working to get a lot of it done before
it's time to head to the post office.
I'm looking forward to a great January. January has always been a great month
for the home mail order business. I'm getting lots of ads together now to send
out for February's publications as well and should be quite busy around here
through Spring from the placed ads. That's what makes this business so much
fun... You never know what the next day's mail is going to bring!
I hope your holiday went as well as ours and you had a great time as well and
got some rest. Write and tell me about it, my email address is at the end of
this post.
As of now, I'd better get back to work, and YOU, YOU have a
GREAT day!!!!
