It's another beautiful sunny morning here in Central Pennsylvania. Yesterday morning it was sunny for about 15 minutes and then cloudy the rest of the day! Oh it wasn't that bad as it was nice at about 70 degrees all day and not very humid at all... Today we're supposed to have sunlight most of the day, still cool and still low on humidity... Yet another near perfect day here at the Blue Bird Cottage!
****************************************
I have a very sad announcement this morning. Well, maybe not that sad for you but for me it is.
I've been doing this blog every week day for about 5 years now.... Matter of fact if you look down at the very bottom of this month you'll see over 4 years of archives of blogs..  Wow! that's a lot of bull crap isn't it?
At any rate between my poor health and my home business is has grown tremendously over the past year it's becoming harder and harder for me to get the time each day to put this blog together..
About a year ago I started to put the joke page that I put up each day together each night before and just do the blog in the morning and that has helped tremendously but still it's getting harder and harder to find the time. I do a lot more doctor and hospital visits now days and also have a lot more to do with my home business as like I mentioned has really been growing..
I've seriously considered stopping the blog altogether and Betty mentioned that maybe just cut down on the content some. I don't know, but that's why I really enjoy doing it as when I get started on something I can really say what I'm thinking about something.
You know like bitching about the way things are these days compared to how they were when I was a kid or young man..  I really miss the trust we used to have in each other... Yes, I think I really miss that the most.
I mentioned many times before that when we went for a Sunday drive or just went away as a family for some reason Mom would always make sure there was plenty of food prepared in the refrigerator in case someone stopped in while we were gone so they could sit down and eat something, and she always made sure that there was paper and pencil on the table as well so they could let us a note and she, Mom, could let them a note telling them to make themselves at home and to have something to eat and tell them approximately about what time we were expected to arrive home, etc.
You never had to worry about someone breaking into your home and robbing you as people had more respect for one another back then.
Yes, I surely do miss that most about the "good ole' days."
Oops, there I got off the subject again...
****************************************
Oh I'll be here tomorrow yet as I want to finish this week, but unless something changes my mind awfully fast after this week I'll still be posting here but it will NOT be on a daily basis.. I will post as often as I can find time to do so, but I will not commit again to a daily routine..  That way when I have a doctor's or hospital appointment I won't have to worry myself sick to get the post up on the web before I leave etc....
I know I'll miss it and I also know that if things change in the future and when I do retire completely I'll probably be back with a daily post.....   I hope some of you enjoyed some of my posts as much as I enjoyed bringing them to you....
As for now, I want to thank all of you who stop here on a regular daily basis to read my blog and my joke sheet.....  It always makes me feel good to check the counter at the bottom and see how many web "friends" have visited since I posted last!
So beginning next week I'll be posting here and please check as often as you can as I'm sure sometimes it will be a couple of days in a row......  But I'll probably not be posting each day.... like I said unless over the weekend something radical happens to change my mind...
***************************************
I have also as of last Friday late evening got involved in another home business opportunity that has literally "blown my mind!" I have already as of yesterday morning made $2,000.00 profit and that's no crap as I already have it in hand! I must take some more time to study this new business so I can bring it to full bloom. I am literally stunned that anyone can make that kind of money in just a few days of doing something so very easy!
I'll tell you more about this opportunity when I learn a bit more about it myself. Probably next week sometime, so If you've EVER thought about having your own home business that you can operate from home that will literally make you more money than company CEOs, you'll want to learn more about this one..  And it's a business you don't have to wait forever for it to pay off! I joined last Friday night about 11 PM and shut off my computer until the next day, Saturday... I spent about an hour or so Saturday studying and working it and by, actually Tuesday evening late I had already made 2 grand!  Stay tuned for more on this one! (You will need a computer to work the business!)
*****************************************
As for now, I've got a ton of work on my desks that need to be done and of course the end of the month is here, my busiest time of the month when I must get everything for the
Once A Month Association, the Newsletter and the Monthly Member Benefit Directory, including the commission checks that are supposed to be done by the end of the last day of the month, hopefully all will be finished by the end of today!
******************************************
Now, it's back to the work on my desks for me, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Thursday!!! (I'll see you right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
The U.S. has profited greatly twice at the hands of a nation that viewed Great Britain as the enemy. In 1803, France, aware it could not hang onto the vast Louisiana Territory, sold it to the U.S. (at about 2½¢ an acre) rather than have it fall to Great Britain. In 1867, Russia sold the 586,400 square miles of Alaska to the U.S. (at less than 2 cents and acre.) The logical purchaser would have been Great Britain, whose dominions in Canada bordered the land on the east, but Russia considered Great Britain to be an enemy. (Britain had won the Crimean War against the Russians and sided with the Confederacy in the U.S. Civil War.)

Finally, a nice sunny morning here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania!
We're supposed to have less humidity and a nicer day than we have been all the way around today. That sounds like the makings of a near perfect day!
***************************************
John Mark Karr, killed Jon Benet Ramsey and now he didn't...  What's up with this guy. You mean to tell me he has no life that he must lie about killing a little girl to make believe he's alive?
I was kind of hoping for awhile there that he actually did the killing...
That would have been nice for the little girls family to have some sort of "closure" for her death.
Why would someone do something like that? Cop to a killing that he did not do?
I don't know for sure but the guy kind of looks a bit goofy but heck if you put everyone who looked goofy into jail our prisons really would be over flowing and that's for sure.
Here's a teacher of little children.. Should we have a harder look at all of our teachers.
When I was in school we really used to respect our teachers. It was a really high revered profession.
I never heard of teachers sleeping with students or having sex with them in any way. That's something that's just new in the last few years.
Holy cats, my mom and dad would have a fit if they were still alive!
Holy men like priests having sex and homosexual activity with children that are put into their charge.
My mom WOULD have a fit and that's for sure.
What the heck is this world coming to? Right in our own back yard..  I think in the past a lot of this sort of thing went on just like today, but when it was discovered, it was just "swept under the rug!"
It was not mentioned in public and a lot of pedophiles got away with a lot of things and didn't go away to prison "where they should be!"
Yes, I don't think all of this crazy, unmentionable stuff just began in the last few years and that's for sure.
People now days are just as appalled as folks used to be.... I think that it seems like there is more of this kind of stuff going on because now days it's more out in the open and of course there are more people around now than there was 50 years ago, period.
***************************************
Oil went down $2 bucks more a barrel yesterday and they said it was because the supposed hurricane that they was expecting was not going to hit the shore line oil and off shore oil fields... Can you believe that!
To me that means that they were keeping the prices up in anticipation of such an occurrence!
This is just pain crap! That's like me selling you a print job and saying it's going to cost you 10% more as the paper factory might just catch fire and of course the price of paper would be going up.
What gets me is that Uncle Sam does nothing about this crap. Don't they see what they are doing..  I thought that "price gouging" was illegal? I REALLY does seem like the boys in Washington are receiving some sort of compensation for just ignoring the entire situation doesn't it?
Wow, looks like we should all be in that kind of business or a business like it right?
Actually no, I don't think I could be as I personally like to sleep at night and screwing my fellow Americans day in and day out I think would be having me lose too much sleep.... I just hope that they get theirs some day!
*******************************************
Looks like the old clock is moving on and I do want to get a lot of work done here in my home office today so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!
(I'll see you right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?)
*************************************
Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
The original Bill of Rights proposed by Congress as an addition to the U.S. Constitution contained twelve, not ten amendments. The two that failed to be ratified by the states were an amendment to set the size of the House of Representatives and one that would have prevented congressmen and senators from raising their own salaries!

Looks like another cloudy morning here in Central Pennsylvania although it is supposed to clear up today sometime... I hope so.... I get tired of rainy days real fast even though we do need more rain...
***************************************
It seems that gasoline is still dropping around our area. It was down another penny yesterday and everyone, even our local newscasters were in a tizzy about the whole thing..
Oh well after all this time of hovering around 3 bucks I guess I can't blame them...
I paid $2.699 at Costco's yesterday for gas and counted myself darn lucky.
Not too long ago I would have thought the priced to be ridiculously high, but now, it doesn't seem bad after this past summer....
I guess just like a little puppet, I'm doing exactly what the big oil companies want me to do and believe that they are doing me good by bringing down the cost a few pennies...
Oh well.... I sure hope it continues to fall but don't forget that we have another holiday just around the corner and I just can't believe that they, the oil companies, would miss the chance to gouge us some more with high gasoline prices...
We'll have to wait and see.... after all that's all we can do..
**************************************
Senator Rick Santorum must have read my blog yesterday morning as he was on a news radio program about 11 AM with his comments about how we should be getting fuel from coal! Talk about timing!
Oh well, apparently I'm not the only one thinking about becoming fuel sufficient here in the good ole' U. S. of A.
He also said we should be shooting for NO fuel from any foreigners!
He talks a good fight, I'd like to see what he does with his ideas as he sure hasn't done anything up to this point, as of yet!
If he can get that movement going, he has my vote...  Like I said though, I'll just have to wait and see.
***************************************
I'm sorry but today is really going to be a very short blog as I have an early doctor's appointment. Yep, another one... When do they stop? Never I guess....
Here's a Chuckism:
It's easy to screw up your body but hard to stay alive after the fact!
If you're healthy, work all you can to stay that way!!!  Enjoy life!
****************************************
I do have a few things that I must get done before Betty and I head off to the doctor's so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Tuesday!
(I'll see you right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?)
Check out the joke sheet for today. There's some good ones in there!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
After becoming Emperor of Rome, Nero's dearest ambition was to sing in public, according to the Roman chronicler Suetonius. After taking lessons, he made his debut in Naples. An earth tremor shook the theater, causing some of the audience to depart while Nero continued singing. At a later performance elsewhere, he had the gates locked so no one could leave while he was on stage. Some women gave birth in the stands. Some men, tired out with listening and applauding., furtively leaped over the walls. Three clever citizens tricked the guards into letting them through an exit: one pretended to be dead and the other two carried him out!

It's a rainy morning here in Central Pennsylvania and has been raining since Saturday Night.......
***************************************
It was beautiful here Saturday so I went out and bought all the "stuff" that we'd need to re-waterproof the deck. Also, John, Betty's son brought up his high-powered washer to help "scrub" the deck clean before the water proofing job.
However, yesterday it rained off and on all day and they are calling for rain today and tomorrow as of yet so it looks like the deck is going to have to wait a few more days before it gets cleaned...
Then we're supposed to wait 5 days for it to dry down before we put on the water proofing... I'll be happy for 4 days though.
You must, however, follow directions, as I remember our neighbor's son re-did hers a couple of years ago and did it all in one day.
He was proud as he got it done and over with.... However, and I mean a big HOWEVER, when the water proofing was on only 3 days it started to get blisters all over it and he ended up scraping the entire deck down and sanding it and then he "still" had to do the job properly.
So, like I said, it's best to follow directions and do the job right the first time!

Many experts say that the high costs of gasoline are here to stay! They claim that 2 years ago we thought that $2.00 a gallon would be appalling. But now we would consider that CHEAP!
Read this and try not to get too angry!
Just a few years back, everything was going along fine. People were getting great new-home deals in distant suburbs, gasoline was steady at around $1.50 per gallon and there wasn't too much concern about the cost of commuting. But in early 2005, gas prices started to climb. Middle East turmoil and the power of a Gulf Coast hurricane kept the pressure on, and before anyone knew it, gasoline was reaching $3 a gallon. And give or take a few cents, that's where it's been ever since. "Two years ago we all would have been appalled to pay $2 a gallon for gasoline," said Rose White, public affairs director for AAA Midwest. "Now, we would be relieved."
Most experts agree that the days of $2 gas are over.
Prices are only going to go up from current levels in the coming years, and those prices, which some say could reach $5 a gallon, will reshape the way many people live their lives.
"Once the realization soaks in to people that high-cost gas is here to stay, you will start to see people change their driving habits and the way they live," White said. "They'll have to make adjustments to offset their fuel budget."
In 2003, when the price of gasoline hovered around $1.50 a gallon, a commute from Indianola to downtown Des Moines could cost around $60 a month. Now double those figures and you have the price of a commute from Indianola today.
"And I would not be surprised if we look back on $3 a gallon as cheap gas in the coming years," White said. "Paying $4 or $5 a gallon isn't out of the question in the near future."
You can read the rest of this very interesting article by clicking here: NICKEL AND DIMED
If that's the truth it looks like people on a fixed income are done traveling and may just as well sell their cars...
The people that are in the low income bracket can only buy cheap used cars and for years the bigger the used car the cheaper it was as it was more expensive to maintain and run because of the gasoline and the high cost of parts for it.
It's still that way only thing is now if they buy those big cars to save money there is no way in heck that they'll be able to afford to place gasoline in them!
They too may as well resign themselves to a life of being on the welfare rolls.
Now with the humongous cost of gasoline it IS definitely cheaper to sit home on their butts and collect welfare checks than it is to go to work and pay taxes on the money they make!
It's breeding more poor families for the welfare rolls....
The only solution that I can see is for America to re-open ALL of it's oil reserves and fields and supply ourselves the way we did up until the late 60's... The "do-gooders" be dammed! They don't want to mess up the thousands of square miles of Alaska with a few oil rigs... That's a bunch of bull...
I say open them all up and also do some off shore drilling... There has to be plenty of oil under the ocean! We have the equipment and money to do it.  At least we do now if Bush doesn't give it all away.
Heck, what am I saying, of course he's giving it all away, now he's giving away money we don't have and it's building our national debt even more!
Keep us out of other people's wars and at home. Put the military back to work here at home, and let them keep out the illegal aliens!
At least they got a better chance of staying alive...
Sure it's going to take some changing and a lot of mine changing that's set now to think that for some odd reason we Americans are responsible for the rest of the entire world.
All the other countries are minding their own business and making tons of money selling us their products and arms so we can give them back even more money extra to help with THEIR economy! What a ridiculous "merry-go-round."
Once we get our heads square maybe the average person will only work just a fraction of the year to pay taxes instead of giving up over half of their earnings for taxes for all of their "pork barreling" ways...
Let's start using our voting power to not only change the crowd down there in Washington but also the laws that are on the books to help us out for a change..
Let's take the right of spending money OUT of the Presidents hands and put in in the House of Representatives....  Think of how much we could save just by having them argue over every cent spent..
While they're arguing, we'll be saving money! Now THAT makes sense!
Instead of using our taxes to toss away in foreign countries, spend it to develop our own oil fields and also for studying and building technology to get vehicles that DON'T use fossil fuels to run...
There are plenty of alternative fuels for vehicles....
I found this web page put up by a student that is VERY interesting... check this out.....
Liquids Made From Coal
- gasoline and diesel fuels that don't come from petroleum. Not All Gasoline comes from Petroleum Like oil and natural gas, coal is a non-renewable, fossil fuel formed in the earth from what was once living plants. Being a solid, coal is not easy to use for most transportation fuel needs.
However, there are ways to make gasoline, diesel fuel, methanol, and other chemicals from coal. These processes have been used for many years in certain other countries (such as South Africa), to produce gasoline and diesel fuel from coal.
The methods to produce gasoline and diesel from coal were used by the Germans in World War II. Their country is rich in coal deposits, but they had no oil and they could not get oil from the Middle East because they were cut off during the war. So, synthetic fuels (oil, gasoline and diesel) were made from coal. These processes can be used today, but the process is too expensive. It is cheaper to use inexpensive crude oil pumped from below the ground.

Check the rest of what this kid has to say and the rest of his site with some great links right here: TRANSPORTATION ENERGY
I think the mid east countries would be a little less anxious to start wars and fight with each other if we hit them in the pocket-book and stopped buying their oil, PERIOD!
I think that would help them more than literally pouring money into them and giving them money constantly that WE DON'T HAVE!
This whole situation is nothing but CRAP and if's that's the example of our BRAINS down in Washington that they can't come up with some kind of solution to this problem them I'm just plain, ashamed of them.
If they would get off their butts and quit worrying about raising their darn salaries all the time and just plain, do their job, we would not have had this problem to start with.
I guess they're going to wait until most of the middle class people, you know, the ones that are carrying the country for the rich and the poor, go bankrupt before they even think about doing anything.
Oh, maybe they'll have some more "meetings" with the big oil companies to decide if they are "gouging" the public...
They, the big oil companies are making the highest profits in history from no apparent reason than raising the cost of gasoline!  Do you think that should take a college diploma to figure that one out?  They must think that all of us Americans are VERY "dumb shits", that's for sure!
I think if we all bitch enough and vote out all those stupid asses in Washington and replace them with different idiots, maybe it would send a message that we just won't put up with their bull shit anymore...
Let's put aside if you are Republican, Democrat, Independent, or some other whatever and dump these dudes! And lets not take years getting the job done or maybe we are the dumb shits that they make us out to be!
****************************************
Well, I've more than used up the allotted time for my blog today so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Florenz Ziegfeld got his first job in show business with Buffalo Bill. One of the features of the famous Wild West show was a shooting contest with the sharpshooter Annie Oakley. The sixteen-year-old Ziegfeld was in the audience and volunteered to compete. When he beat Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill offered him a job, and Ziegfeld accepted without telling his parents. The job didn't last very long because the irate elder Ziegfeld's brought their runaway boy back almost immediately!

T.G.I.F.
They are calling for thunder showers today but you would notice it if you looked out side right now as it's nice and sunny just like it has been.
***************************************
Yep where're at the end of yet another work week. I hope you don't have to work this weekend. I do but I'm going to try and take to them to scrub the deck out back.
We decided to clean and waterproof the deck before we put down new carpeting on the brand new porch that we just had installed last week.
That way at least this year we won't have to worry about over spill or over spray onto the carpeting when we scrub and re-waterproof the darn thing...
Last year, as usual, I tried to save a buck and cleaned it and waterproofed it with some stuff that I bought at a bargain outlet store...
IT was a catastrophe!
It cleaned it so good that it actually bleached the wood "white", and also the waterproofing was a joke as well.
Oh, I saved money alright.. but I should have just tossed it out the window and beed done with it..
In my experience since I've owned the deck is to use "Thompson" products.... They are a bit more expensive, but they do the job so much better!
There are plenty of different kinds but this one is the best in my opinion!
I've used it and it does what it says it does.... I just wish that it would last more than one year as this seems like it's a yearly job.
It sure is a lot of work for each year but it's worth in when its over..
I know we get a lot of use from our deck, especially me as I like to work out there when weather permits and that's why the last time I bought a laptop I bought one with a 17" screen as I knew I'd need one that big for the designing work that I do at times...
Now finally as well, I don't have to lug out the 100 foot extension cable for the newwork to the internet and to the other computers as I finally put in wireless networking to both of my laptops... It's just great and I just can see me going backwards to the old cable hook up...
Maybe some day will see me upgrading but not for awhile as although it wasn't real expensive, it was expensive enough that I don't want to "upgrade" every year with a faster model!
***************************************
As you can tell from this picture of the deck it sure needs something done to it!
Well, I'll take another picture when we're done doing the cleaning and sealing "make-over" and you can see if it looks better or not...
I've sure got my fingers crossed that the cheap stuff that I used last year didn't screw it up for good.  I don't think so and if it did, I'll probably be able to sand it down!... Wow! I bitching about the work now just cleaning and waterproofing it, can you imagine the work if I must sand it? I'm not even going to think that way, at least not for now.
***************************************
I just hope that we stay high and dry this weekend now as far as the rains go... When I use the Thompson products the drying time between the cleaning is supposed to be 5 days! That's a long time to hope for without it raining and every one will "Kill" me if they knew I'm hoping it doesn't as it's really too dry around here and rain is really needed badly!
Oh well, I'll just have to play it by ear..

A word about my favorite program and the one I make the most money with, Elements. First if you are interested in a home business of your own that you can literally make $1,000 of dollars every month, (No Joke), Click on this word, Elements, go to the bottom of the page and fill in the couple of lines of information and just follow, it will only take a minute or two.
Then, if what you see interests you contact me by email or phone. I'll set you up to get you onto our conference call come Tuesday evening at 9 PM central time.
If you like what you hear there and have any questions they will answer all for you, but here's the good part. If you decide to join and do so before midnight you just may get $50 of FREE gasoline!
The man that runs the call, Owen Brown, gave these $50 gas coupons away last week and I have a notion that he will be doing the same this week.
I'm giving you a "heads up" on this as it will give you more time to study it and think about it.
I know a couple of you have been on the fence and I wanted to let you know about this new development.

Well, I'm happy to say that around here at least, gasoline prices are continuing to tumble.. We are already 25¢ cheaper that $3 bucks a gallon! (A few months ago, I would have said, BIG DEAL, but now it is a big deal.)
I sincerely hope that they will continue their downward trend and just maybe we will see some relief for a change. This is unless Iran starts blowing up some of their nuclear devices and we gets pissed off and boycott them, that is.
Let's hope not... We have enough people blowing each other around the world these days as it is!

I was talking yesterday about Social Security and how the increase for folks trying to live on Social Security is a BIG JOKE.
A reader, and a friend of mine, Timothy Barnes, found an article that centers on that very subject!
Take a gander at this:
Payments to Social Security Recipients Should be 43% Higher
Inflation, as reported by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is understated by roughly 2.7% per year. This is due to recent redefinitions of the series as well as to flawed methodologies, particularly adjustments to price measures for quality changes. The concentration of this installment on the quality of government economic reports will be first on CPI series redefinition and the damages done to those dependent on accurate cost-of-living estimates, and on pending further redefinition and economic damage.
An excellent article and you can find the complete article just by clicking here:

Social Security Yearly Raise A BIG JOKE!
Thanks a million Tim for the "heads up" on that one! That really makes me feel a lot more that I'm NOT going nuts and others are seeing how ridiculous some of this stuff our government pulls!

Well, you knew it was coming and here it is.... I've used up all of my time for this morning writing in this blog and as I enjoy it so much I must get myself back to work. So, for me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!

It's sunny once again here in Central Pennsylvania and it looks like we're in for yet another beautiful day.
***************************************
Yesterday turned out pretty good and despite the fact that I had a doctors appointment at 3:15 in the afternoon I still got plenty done here in the office..
Still plenty to GET done but I was quite pleased with what I did get done yesterday.
I'm trying to get this post up a bit early this morning so I can get some things done before the mail man gets here other wise I'll have to make a quick trip to the post office early this afternoon as I have several things that must go out of this office as early as possible.
Hopefully I'll get 'em done though and all will go fine.. After that it's time to work on yet another bulk mail and all I must do is about 4 more print jobs and some folding, plus assemble the small magazines and "saddle stitch" them and that will be ready to assemble to get ready for a trip to the post office.
I'm not foolish enough to think that it will all get done today but I'm hoping that unless something radical happens, most of it will.
***************************************
Larry, our Chinese friend that's the manager at the Grand Buffet down in the Harrisburg area got back home yesterday as we stopped there after the trip to the doctor.
He had brought us a large bag of cereal that is made in China and made us a sample to taste while we were there and sure enough it was really good. The good thing with it also is that there is no sugar added to it so even I can eat it. It wasn't bad even without my fake sugar that I usually put on my cereal though and I may not even bother.. I think we will put some fresh fruit in with it however..
I've found out mostly through Larry and our other friend Jason that the Chinese tastes are very simple and it really doesn't take much to please them..
Jason told me one time that for breakfast mostly everyone in China eats rice mixed with warm water in the morning..  Kind of like a soup. To me it taste very bland but they seem to really like it. Maybe it's because that's what they grew up with. That's the only thing I can figure... (I then asked Jason how the heck they ate the soup with "chop-sticks." Very, very nosily Chuck, was his reply!)
At any rate, the Chinese food that you think you are getting at a Chinese restaurant, is really American Chinese food. Why, I asked Larry don't they serve real Chinese food... No Americans would like it and the restaurant would go broke was his answer!
After being at their New Year's Party and talking to them, I think that Jason and Larry is right. It just wouldn't suit any of us...

I touched on some things talking about Social Security yesterday and since then have run into some more things... It's just in a terrible state...
To find out more on the state of our Social Security System Just click here:
The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization based in Washington, DC, that advocates for financial and health security in retirement for all Americans.
There is a lot of stuff at this site that will really bust your bonnet!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
The average age of Elizabethan and Jacobean brides was about twenty-four and their bridegrooms around twenty-seven. The primary reason for the delayed marriages was to limit births among poorer people. The higher the social status, however, the younger the age a marriage!

It's another sunny morning here in Central Pennsylvania and it look like another pleasant day!
***************************************
The gasoline is going down a bit around here and I sure hope around where you live as well....  We're down to around $2.79 and still dropping....
I guess the large oil companies figured they'd toss us a bone before they start to raise prices again for the upcoming holiday. You know, Labor Day.
Maybe they'll drop for a bit again before they start raising them for the heating season as well.
I AM now fully convinced that they will never go back down to where they were before    hurricane Katrina last year. Nope, it's just been too long that the prices have been hovering around $3 bucks a gallon..  The big oil barons know that we're getting used to paying that kind of money for fuel so they will keep it there..
Maybe if some of us would have really cut down on our driving to prove to them that the current prices were way to high for our budget, but the demand has actually went up since all of these ridiculous prices have gotten that high!
Nope, it's just way too late now... We may as well resign ourselves to paying more for fuel for our automobiles and trucks than what it costs to put food on the table.
Did you ever stop to think that as hard and costly as it is to produce a gallon of milk and get it into a container so we can bring it home, that a gallon of gasoline now costs more than a gallon than milk!
Believe me, I grew up on a Dairy farm and it cost more money to produce a gallon of milk than it does to refine a gallon of gasoline!
Heck now, with the cost of gasoline, it costs the farmers even more to produce a gallon of milk than it did last year... You must put fuel in the tractors to cultivate, plant and harvest crops to feed to the cattle to produce the milk!
Yep, and all of the other stuff that has gone up because of shipping will still stay this high forever!
***************************************
I was on our conference call last night for my best program, and the one that I make the most money with, Elements, and out of a clear blue sky I started to think about Social Security.  People actually think that some day they will be able to live on it...   WHAT A JOKE!
It's about a big a joke as at the beginning of the year when they increase social security checks just a bit to "cover" the rise in inflation. That's a big joke as well.
They raise the cost of the check a few bucks and that's supposed to cover it. Do you think that it will even start to cover the rise of gasoline and the fuel for our furnaces?
Well, even putting the rise in the cost of fuel, yesterday Betty informed me that The cost of Social Security insurance is going up..  Around the cost of what the inflation rise at the beginning of the year was...
Hey, what about the cost of living... I guess folks on social security will have to get along the best way they can....  They should REALLY increase the checks for a change!
Which apparently is NOT going to happen...
***************************************
But, hey, look at the bright side, President Bush just appropriated 570 million dollars to help rebuild the damage in Lebanon that Israel did to it! Ain't that GREAT?
Oh, come to think of it, why is it our responsibility to rebuild Lebanon? Geez.... Israel did the damage, why don't they give them money to rebuild...
On one hand, we are "holding" the "Hand" of Israel as they are our allies, and on the other we're paying for the damage they did to their neighbor...
Is it just me, am I crazy to see something wrong with this scenario?  Hey I believe in helping people as much as the next guy but let's take care of our own people, here at home, first, okay?
***************************************
Besides that, haven't we been paying enough to protect the world from Saddam Hussein lately? Now the idiot's getting yet another trial... I still say the soldier who found him to begin with should have put him out of his misery and the rest of the world's on the spot!
But that's getting into a whole other "ball of wax" isn't it?
***************************************
The flood aid in New Orleans was a disaster as we know it was going to be..
Seems it always ends up that way when you get the government involved in anything, ESPECIALLY PASSING OUT MONEY!!!
Seems like hundreds of millions of dollars were wasted and never even reached a lot of the folks that did have a rough time of it when the hurricane struck.
They were passing money out to help rebuild homes to folks that didn't even live there! They were just passing through!!!
Yep, a fine example of government spending!
I can't find the story on the web to refer you to at the moment but even Taylor Hicks the new idol got a FREE plane ticket to go to Las Vegas to audition for the American Idol show! I'm not even sure that Hicks lived down there...
Oh well, it's FREE money right? Oh that's right it's OUR money isn't it?
********************************************
I'd love to stay around and "chat" some more, but with the piles of work staring up at me from my desks, I'd better get my butt back to work!  YOU, YOU have a GREAT Day!!!
(I'll see you right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Opium frequently was used as a painkiller by army doctors during the U.S. Civil War. By the end of the war, according to conservative estimates, 100,000 soldiers were addicted to opium---at a time when the total population of the country was only 40 million. Today in the U.S. there are an estimated 300,000 drug addicts!

And it's another sunny morning here in Central Pennsylvania! A real beauty of a day and one that I plan to really enjoy as it goes into the low 80's again today with very low humidity... Yep another beautiful day in Central Pennsylvania....
***************************************
I had a pretty good day here in the office yesterday and also yesterday afternoon as we had to go out for a few things, we stopped at Best Buy as they had in their sale sheet in the Sunday paper that they had Clint Eastwood DVD's on sale and as Clint is my favorite actor, I just couldn't pass it up.
At least not at these prices.....
I have many of Clint's movies, as a matter of fact most of them on VHS tapes but only a couple on DVD and as they now say that the VHS tapes are only good for about 15 years, I figured I'd better get started on my Eastwood DVD collection!
They had 6 DVD's on special for only $4.99 each! The least price of any of them was $9.99 so even those I got at about half price....
Well, here's the line up...  CITY HEAT - $17.99, THE DEAD POOL - $10.99, SUDDEN IMPACT - $10.99, A PERFECT WORLD - $9.99, KELLY'S HEROES - $9.99, and last but not least, TIGHTROPE $17.99!
That's a total of $77.94 worth of movies....  Actually with tax the total would be $82.62. I got the entire lot for a total of $31.74 including tax for a total savings of $50.88!!!
Talk about a savings!
So if you're a Clint Eastwood fan like me, and you have a Best Buy in your area, you'll want to check out that sale before it's too late and the sale is over or they are all sold out as there are no rain checks!
Go Clint Eastwood!!!
***************************************
You can always tell someone who likes their job as they are usually much better at it than their work mates are.. I had a time finding any of the Clint Eastwood movies so I ask someone who worked there for help... He was worse than I was at finding them. He then called another young fellow over and he kind of took over and within 5 minutes he had found all of them and I had them in hand..  The other fellow had already left..
A new fellow? I asked him...  No, he said, Actually he's been here over a year longer than me but the best thing he's good at is watching the clock and telling all of us when it's time to go home....
Yeah, I said as I thought to myself, That figures... You can always tell....
I've had a lot of "stuff" done to me in the hospital in the operating room and that's one place where you REALLY want someone working on you that just LOVES his job.
I got lucky and found a heart doctor, cardiologist, that is just exactly like that.. He really does LOVE his job..
One time he was doing an angioplasty on me. That's when they take a tube and push it from your groin all the way up to and inside your heart so they can look around and do whatever they need to, to make repairs.
You must be awake when they do this and it's not too bad but you get to see everything that's going on.
He, the doctor, was having a good time on one of these excursions into my heart.. He was actually singing and cracking jokes with his fellow workers.
I said to him it actually sounds like you're having fun! I sure am he said, I DO love my work! I'm sure he wasn't lying as he was enjoying himself too much!
Yep, he was having a merry old time...  and that's just fine with me...  Here's a guy that would really be mad at himself if he made a mistake or anything like that... and that's just the way I want him to feel...
It's the same with your auto mechanic...  If he likes his job, you'll not only get a good job on your car but it will get done faster which means less money.
When I was a full time mechanic with my own garage that's the way I was. So I do know what I mean as I really did love my job..
My family used to live in a large apartment above my garage and sometimes I would have a problem with an automatic transmission as I used to rebuild them.. I may have trouble figuring out just what the heck the problem was and I would wake up in the middle of the night with an idea and a many time I would go down into the garage and work on the unit while it seemed the whole world slept.... That's really loving your job...
As I mentioned before in this blog.... My mentor once told me, Chuck, find a job that you really love, and you'll never work another day in your life!
***********************************
Woops, there I go again, rattling along again and it looks like my time for this blog this morning is all used up so for me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT DAY!!!
(I'll see you right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
Charlie Chaplin broke into show business at age five because his mother, a music-hall performer, lost her voice during the performance and had to leave the stage, and Charlie went on and sang a well-known song. Halfway through the song a shower of money poured onto the stage. Charlie stopped singing and told the audience he would pick up the money first and then finish the song. The audience laughed. This was the first of millions of laughs in Charlie Chaplin's fabulous career!

It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Central Pennsylvania and with temps going to the mid-eighties and low humidity, it's going to be a beauty the rest of the day.
***************************************
The beginning of a brand new week... Can't wait to dig in right? Yeah, me too... I'm always ready on a new week to get started and then by the second day, I'm ready for the weekend! Naw, just kidding...
A shower here and there but we did have a nice weekend around here. I got pretty much done.. Not as much as I would have liked to but some.
Friday afternoon and evening I had that "restless leg syndrome" and my legs were just driving me nuts! (And believe me, in my case that's not too far to drive me!)
I was up all Friday night with literally no sleep. I finally fell asleep about 7:30 AM in the morning, literally from pure exhaustion, but was back up at 9:30 AM.
We had to do some shopping on Saturday and I didn't look forward to it as I was just miserable and still had the "restless leg syndrome" so bad that it had moved into my arms as well....
Yes, I know, another malady... It seems like I get everything coming down the pike! Thank goodness even though I have about everything else wrong with me, so far, knock on wood, I haven't got any Cancer!
If I can stay clear of that, I'll feel lucky. I've had so many friends get that dreaded disease and die from it, including Betty's oldest daughter, I hate to even think about it.
At any rate 'til we got home Saturday afternoon my butt was really dragging.
I was just glad to be home...  I turned on the computers but that's about as far as I got with them... I was still going crazed with that miserable malady.... and I couldn't even go to sleep with it... Finally I gulped a couple of pain pills and one nerve pill and in addition to the exhaustion I dropped off to sleep on my lounge chair in the living room...
When I woke up about 4 hours later the darn stuff had subsided and I was back to "normal" or about as normal as I get.
It's just a joy just to sit down and stay in one position and not be in miserable pain. You never appreciate it until you don't have it... That's a "fer" sure..
***************************************
Yesterday Dell Computers had another computer special in the Parade section of the Sunday paper. Our neighbor Jane Dossett that lives up the road from us was just talking last week about how she needed another computer and with the basic computer and the upgrade the whole thing only came to $429 and that was an excellent deal!
Yesterday afternoon Betty called her about it and she called me back and she decided to order one.. However, she wanted me to order it for her which usually should not be a big deal...  (Did I say usually?)
I got Jane's credit card info and after about an hour finally took some time and called the toll free number. After pushing a few buttons from there "menu" I finally got the computer voice that said due to the high calls coming in from their specials, their lines were really tied up and to go to their "award winning" web site...  Now keep that in mind... "Award winning" web site....
Right away I couldn't find the special at the URL address in the newspaper ad.
I looked high and low and finally put in for some sales help at a chat session..  I DID get a jewel of a lady on the chat session and she was very helpful but I don't think that she could find the advertisement either. However with the information that I gave her from the ad she did come up with an URL where I could go to order it online...
She was very, very helpful and a very nice person as well. I even asked her if she would get any credit from the sale and she said she would if she was the last person that I talked to.. I'm pretty sure her name was Loralie. Well, she's probably angry with me as it turned out to be a complete mess...
The cost of the unit with the upgrade came to $429 and that's what was on the site...  After a bit of dancing around I finally got to the shopping cart and this was after it said the shipping would only be about $30 bucks..  When I got to the cart the total came to $486.52. Wow! I thought, how did it get so high... If I would have just pushed the button to confirm that cost the explanation would have been right there... However, I thought that I must have "zigged" when I should had "zagged" so I looked for a button to take the stuff back out of the cart or at least cancel it and I couldn't find it...
So I had to keep going back with the browser to the beginning and when I got to the beginning page I went through the entire "song and dance" again until I got to the site that said yet AGAIN $486.52. Shit, I thought, now what did I do. I backed up a page and couldn't see anything I did wrong so I punched the button to proceed once again and totaled it up and then it said that the Pennsylvania sales tax was almost $30 bucks and the light bulb came on..  These Dell people are out of Texas yet they were charging PA sales tax. Gee, I thought, they must have a retail store in Pennsylvania...  At any rate I pushed another button to proceed and it came up to the $486.52 with tax and shipping so I put in the credit card information and pushed the proceed to check out button... Now all of a sudden right before, on the next page, I pushed the confirm button I glanced at the total and it was over 2 thousand dollars!!!  Wow! Apparently every time I went back a page, this thing put me down for another unit! I still couldn't find a button to deduct anything from the checkout bin so finally I just closed the browser and sighed....
Now, I had a total of an hour and a half in the order and was right back where I started from...
Finally I had to call the 800 number and got another nice lady and she placed the order. She kept trying to talk me into buying extra stuff but hey, that's her job...
So I finally have the computer and upgrade coming.. Whew!
I sure hope a dozen don't come or we're going to have to have a computer sale!!! (Ha!)
At today's shipping prices it would cost a fortune just to send them all back!
I did ask the lady if they had a Dell store in Pennsylvania and she said no that they don't have stores anywhere....
If they don't have a store in PA why are they charging PA sales taxes.
A few month's back I ordered another Dell for a friend in Harrisburg, PA and that one got shipped to New York City and they charged New York sales tax on that one as well..  Also, a few months back I turned on a buddy up in Bridgeport Connecticut to the Dell on sale and they charged him Connecticut Sales Taxes as well.
Now, if they have no stores in any of these states they are not allowed to charge sales tax. Why are they still charging sales tax and just where in the heck is the money going?
We're talking about a lot of money in sales taxes here!
Are they making a lot of extra money that they shouldn't be??  I'd love to know where to go and find out about that...
If you know where I can check, email me. My email address is at the end of this post...
Heck even when I buy movies from Amazon.com I never pay any PA sales taxes.
That's why some times, it pays to buy some things out of state...
******************************************
That about eats my time up for today....  So for me, it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Monday!!!
(I'll see you right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?)

It's nice and sunny here this morning at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania....  It's supposed to be a bit warmer with a higher humidity here today but if it's as half as nice as it was yesterday, I'll be a happy camper!
***************************************
I mentioned a few days ago that we, Betty and I we're going to have a new porch floor and roof supports put in the back of the house where the porch attaches to the deck on the rear of the house as it's been in place for over 20 years and has been under water at least 3 times in that period and was pretty well rotted out..  The supports and the flooring were not fit to walk on..
The gentleman that did the job said he'd be here at 7:30 AM yesterday and start the job... I had already told him that I don't get up that early and he said it didn't' matter...
Well, thinking about him coming had me up out of bed about 20 after 7 and I heard him beginning work already as he had to rip out the entire old porch before he could even begin to replace the darn thing...
Hmmmmmmmmmm.... I thought as this was the first time that I've had this man do any kind of construction work for us I really didn't know just how good he was or anything....  He has worked for me in the past as he used to clean and repair my larger copy machine. He was VERY good at that and always did a very good job on it..
He had just started his construction business this past year and I was anxious to see just how good he was...
We were pleased with his estimate and he even mentioned that it may be cheaper... (Yeah, I thought, that's what they all say. I've NEVER paid less than the estimate.... If anything it's ALWAYS more!)
Well, with this dude I was in for a VERY pleasant surprise...  He said he worked pretty fast and he wasn't exaggerating a all!
As I mentioned he had to completely tear out the old porch before he even began to build the new one..
He was here the entire day except when he had to run to the supply house to pick up some very large supports for the new porch. He didn't realize that the old ones would be completely worthless and had to be replaced and he was back in a very short time... with those....  He worked steadily at the job and even though I offered any help that he may need he never asked for any.... I was even more surprised how quickly he was progressing with the job and Betty was too..  Quick and efficient..... a thing of beauty to watch... A man that actually seemed to know EXACTLY just what he was doing and didn't dally getting it done....
He began work as I mentioned at 7:30 AM and had the entire job finished at 1:30 in the afternoon! The only thing left to do is put grass carpeting on it and Betty and I told him that we would do that ourselves!
He tore out the entire porch, replaced all the frame and sub-frame and rebuilt the porch and was done with his tools cleaned up and ready to leave at 1:30 in the afternoon!
I could hardly believe it...  When I saw him working I knew it wouldn't take him long but even then I thought it would take longer than that! We are VERY pleased also with the job itself. Everything is fit in properly and he even made some improvements in the height of it so if fits up against the deck better than it did before.
Those of you who read this blog that are pretty local will want to get in touch with this man should you need some work done so I'm going to give out his contact numbers etc. in a minute but I also wanted to mention that even his price on the entire job was lower than his estimate and the saved money was very substantial! A LOT less than the estimate!
He does work in the Dauphin and Harrisburg areas and surrounding communities... I'm pretty sure he even goes over to the west shore like West Fairview and Camp Hill areas....
Get your pencil ready...
The name of his company is Elite Home Services:
He does Residential & Commercial work.
Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Roofing, Product Assembly and lots MORE!
His name and address are:
JEFFREY NEELY, 8221 MOUNTAIN ROAD, HARRISBURG, PA 17112 Phone/Fax (717) 469-7834  OH, and one other thing... You can rest easy if he does do any work for you as he is completely Insured AND Bonded!
Most of you who have read this blog for awhile knows just how cheap, oops, I mean conservative that I am.... I can truly finally say that I was happy to spend this money on some home improvement... Believe me, for me to even say that I was happy to spend money, you can bet your bippies that I AM pleased with the job...
Thanks Jeff.... and I'm sure Betty is looking around the cottage at all the other things that need to be done...  As with everyone else, though, we have to take them one at a time.... and save the money in between time... I really HATE to borrow money to fix the house...  I'd sooner save and pay for it as we go.....
****************************************
I'm kind of looking forward to not only getting some work done in the office over this weekend but as we're supposed to have some decent weather except for rain on Saturday afternoon, I hope to get some "stuff" done out in the yard as well...  With the weird weather we've had all summer, I've got plenty to get done... Heck, Summer is almost over and I don't know where the heck it's went!
That another job that needs to be done before cold weather..... I must clean and water proof the deck...  That's not too big of a job though and except for the drying time between the cleaning and the application of the water proofing shouldn't take more than an afternoon...
Boy, when you own a home, it's a lot of work, isn't it... No wonder so many people rent... they sure get a lot more time to have fun.... Of course, come to think of it, I consider working in the yard mostly fun as well.... so I guess it all evens out anyway....
*****************************************
Oh yes, those of you who are in the Phase XII of the downline builder, 3 Bucks = Success, will be receiving your joining and downline packet in a couple of days... They all went out in the mail a couple of days ago... Thought I'd mention it as I've been getting a lot of phone calls about it lately...
*****************************************
I've still got a ton of stuff to get done today before my weekend even gets started so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!
(I'll see you right back here on Monday morning! Okay?)

It's a bit chilly here this morning in Central Pennsylvania, but with temps supposed to go up into the mid 80s and very little humidity looks like we're in for a day that we just dream about. I'm REALLY looking forward to it!
****************************************
Betty and I took off yesterday afternoon for a few hours and picked up a good hot meal and did a bit of shopping..
I was waiting on Betty for a few minutes at one of the stores and for some odd reason just started observing the people coming in and out of the store....
In the short period of time that I was watching, I'd say about the best part of 20 people came in and out of the store and all of them, not a few or several, but ALL OF them were overweight!
I never really noticed it before but it's true.. You hear about how the American people are all becoming overweight and in many cases obese but it just doesn't seem to hit home unless you make a conscious effort to at least take notice to your surroundings.
Apparently it doesn't matter what race we are, if we're American or just live in America for any length of time, most of us are over weight. It's almost amazing...
Is it really the fast food restaurants? Is it that we are just plain obsessed with food... What is it...???
I don't think it has anything to do with us wanting to be overweight or fat or even obese. If that were the case then we wouldn't be spending literally billions of dollars every year trying to shed the darn fat.
No that's not the reason..... Then if that's not the reason it can only be one thing.... All the fat people in America are "OVEREATING!"
Now that sounds simple doesn't it?
I've personally in my life time gained hundreds of pounds and I've also lost hundreds of pounds.... I have NEVER understood and still don't why people think that by taking some kind of potion or special food, the extra pounds that we've gain will just melt away and we'll be back to that ideal weight once again.
Lot's of folks MUST feel this way as I mentioned billions of dollars are spent on these methods of weight loss that DOES NOT work!
If they don't work, why do we continue to by every new lotion and potion that comes down the pike promising to make us lose weight and do it without any effort on our part?
That's it right there! Back up and read that last sentence.... "Without any effort on our part."
I've come to the conclusion that it's a simple matter to solve our weight gain problems but what we must do first is FACE THE FACTS! We're all LAZY! We're just too darn lazy to do what is necessary to lose the excess weight.
It's a huge industry, the fat business..... There are zillions of bucks to be made from lazy, fat folks and lots of people are just waiting to get their hands into your pocket books....
We all want the magical pill that we can take and watch the pounds melt off while we continue to stuff ourselves with unhealthy, fatty foods and on top of that do it while we're lying on the couch watching our favorite sport or TV program drinking our favorite beverage either sugary sodas or high calorie beer!
Yep, now that's the American way!
Well, kids in my experience of the up and down weight gains and losses throughout my life there are only a very few things that you can do to lose weight and do it every time with no excuse... and it's so simple and actually cost less money as you will be buying less food!
Dieting shouldn't cost you a penny... If anything it should save you money in more ways than one...  I'm talking about saving you money with the actual purchase of the food but that's not even talking about all the money it's going to save you in the long run when you are nice and healthy while your "tubby" neighbor is having heart problems and diabetes problems because of his obese condition.
Here you go.... You can highlight and print this or you can just jot it down as it's not that long or not that complicated!
You must take in less calories than you are putting out, or spending. Then and only then will you lose weight!
THAT'S IT... THAT'S CHUCK'S ENTIRE DIET PLAN AND IT DIDN'T COST YOU A CENT! Not only that, but it's 100% guaranteed to work!
Now, even though that's the entire plan, there are things that you can do to improve and speed up the diet that actually works....
You can also exercise more. The more you exercise in addition to taking in less calories the faster you will lose weight.
Now is that simple or what? You can also eat less fatty foods and more healthy foods and that will also speed up your weight loss.
Wow! This is getting easier and easier isn't it?
So instead of spending a ton of money on your next diet, get ready to save some money that you can put back for a Christmas savings to pay for your presents in cash this year... Wow, lose weight and save money.... This IS getting better and easier....
You'll grow to love my diet, do you know why?
BECAUSE IT TRULY DOES WORK! NO ANDS, IFS, OR BUTS! THAT'S WHY!
I'm now at a healthy weight and maybe I could put on a couple of pounds...  but better to be a couple of pounds light than a couple of pounds too heavy..
Try it you'll love it!!!
**********************************
Wow, it looks like my diet plan and a few observations has eaten up my blog time for today but I'll be right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?
In the meantime it's back to work for me and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
The Sui, who ruled China briefly, around 600 A.D., devoted much of their reign to constructing the Grand Canal, a waterway 100 feet wide, lined with roads and trees, and stretching for 1,000 miles. The canal was completed in less than twenty-five years, at a terrible cost in human life. Almost 5.5 million people were involved in the construction, and it has been estimated that 2.5 million died due to the harshness of the working conditions. The canal, extending from Peking to Hangchow, is as navigable today as when it was built almost 1,400 years ago!

It's sunny again this morning here in Central Pennsylvania and with the lower humidity predicted for today it's going to be a "Jim Dandy" day to get in some outdoors time..
The contractor who is putting in a new floor in our porch out back said he'd be starting tomorrow but when I went out for the paper here a bit ago, it's so darn nice, he should have begun today!

The person or persons who shot up the Dauphin residence the other night is still "at large." I just wonder if they will ever catch them.
Today we think with all of the electronic equipment and cameras they have that everyone, including anyone who robs a bank is automatically caught. It's just a matter of time.
The REAL fact is that is NOT the case at all!
It is important to understand how bank robberies occur in the US. While I won’t lay out the details here, you can find a wealth of information in the FBI’s special report on bank robbery (PDF). In particular, the study noted that a bank is robbed approximately every hour (as of the latest data). This is often enough to keep yourself alert!
Next, keep in mind that the majority of bank robbery attempts are “note-passings”. This is a case where the bank robber simply passes a note to a teller informing the teller that a robbery is in progress and that the teller should hand over all the money. Why is this important? Because you may not even know that a robbery is in progress.
You’ll also be delighted to know that bank robbery is not a lucrative career. Most robberies result in a relatively small amount of money leaving the institution. Banks are much more careful these days about keeping vaults stacked full of money (it’s not like what you see in the movies). They simply know that keeping too much cash around is not the best idea for a variety of reasons.

Did you know that most bank robberies occur on Fridays?
Why most bank robberies are on Fridays
If you are really worried about being in a bank during a robbery, it would be a good idea to avoid going to the bank on Friday mornings between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
According to the FBI, more bank robberies happen on Fridays than any other day, and the most popular time for banks to be robbed is between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
"Banks used to have more money on Fridays because, historically, it was payday. It's probably still a perception, but it's not necessarily true today," says FBI agent Ken Neu.
"As for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., it's the beginning of the banking day, and it's perceived that there's still a lot of money in the bank as opposed to the end of the day in terms of hard cash. Again, probably more a perception than a reality."
You might want to consider using a bank branch that's located in a supermarket.
"There was some concern about putting banks in supermarkets," Neu says. "The thinking was they might be more vulnerable, but they seem less vulnerable. They'd have to take over a supermarket to get control, and it might not be as easy as taking over a bank branch
.
NEW YORK — Here in the Law and Order city, club kids can no longer smoke in bars, cabbies can't hold cell phones while driving, and Park Avenue ladies aren't allowed to let toy poodles off the leash.
On the other hand, it's still pretty easy to knock over a bank.
Bank robberies in Gotham have tripled in three years. You don't even need a gun. Most of the increase is in unarmed robberies. Just write a note asking for money and hand it to the teller — correct spelling not required.
That's what a 40-ish man did last week, when he slipped a note demanding cash to a teller at a Fourth Federal Savings Bank in Manhattan.
He got the money and fled. Police are investigating.
Darryl Alexander, 42, of Brooklyn found bank robbery such a convenient way to raise cash that he hit the same Washington Mutual Bank branch three times in seven months last year.
His total haul: more than $5,000 and a guilty plea two weeks ago to grand larceny.
Then there was the day in December when five banks were robbed in less than 90 minutes. In October, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was testifying before the City Council about the need for better bank security. His pager flashed the news that a bank robbery was underway on
144th Street. And in April, Kelly was meeting with bank officials about security when he learned that the bank across the street from City Hall had just been robbed.
Police blame the banks. Lax security and new customer-friendly banks without bulletproof Plexiglas encourage robbers, they say. The robberies aren't concentrated in one neighborhood, police say, but most banks that have been hit are close to the city's No. 1 getaway vehicle: the subway.
In 2003, banks were hit 408 times, or almost once for every three of the 1,290 branches in the city. That's far fewer than in the late 1980s, when there were more than 1,000 bank jobs a year. Three a day was not uncommon.
"The word got out in the criminal community that banks are easy to rob," Kelly says. The police commissioner is so annoyed about the problem that he crashed the grand opening of a Commerce Bank branch last year to complain about the lack of Plexiglas "bandit barriers"
for tellers.  Click here for the rest of the New York Bank robberies story -----  Bank Robbers Loving New York City!

Now, after all that, how many actually DO get caught? Well, I goggled, and I used several other search engines trying to get an honest answer for that one without any success at all! Are they trying to keep that a secret from us? Might be as I truly think that VERY FEW band robbers are EVER caught!
I know the small bank here in Dauphin, Pennsylvania usually got hit at least twice a year for years... In that entire time I continually tried to "follow up" on the cases and I only ever remember just one guy that was caught! All the others got away and probably ended up robbing other banks as well.
So, using Dauphin as a template, very few of the robbers get caught in the United States!
It may not be that lucrative, but hey, if you never get caught..... it looks like easy money! Not for me though.....
Knowing me, and always being taught to NEVER take ANYTHING that don't belong to you, I would be so keyed up that I would surely have a FATAL heart attack!
Now THAT sure isn't worth a couple or three hundred bucks! No way Hosea!!!

Looks like with my little bank robber tangent, I've eaten up all my blog time for this morning....  so for me, that means it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Wednesday!!!
(I'll see you right back here tomorrow morning! Okay?)

Here's The Cool, Unusual Fact For Today..
For sixty-two years, baseball's greatest slugger, Babe Ruth, alone held the record (nine) for pitching the most on-season shutouts in the American League. In 1978 he became the co-holder, with Ron Guidry, of the record!

It's another beautiful sunny morning here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania... They are calling for some rain showers today but I'll not believe it until I see it... Highs are supposed to be a bit warmer than yesterday and so is the humidity...
Just another beautiful day here in Central Pennsylvania!
******************************************
I received a call from Tommy Matyasovszky last evening and he's feeling a bit better but he said he's still not up to par...  He's been very ill the last week or so, I do hope that he is on his way back to being better... Hang in there Tom...
Tom's one of the best and also one of my favorite downline associates for many programs including the one I like the best, and the one that I make the most money with, the ELEMENTS business.
Incidentally, while I'm on the ELEMENTS subject, don't forget, those of you who are in the ELEMENTS program/business that tonight is the big conference call.
Those of you who are not in the business but would like to hear about some of what I'm always "crowing" about, can get in on the call tonight with us as well.. I'd like you to say your name and what state you are calling from, but it's not necessary as you can just listen in on the whole thing.
And at the end of the presentation, if you want to ask a question, go ahead...  and if you DO say who you are at the beginning of the call also holler out that Chuck invited you! I've got a small bet going with a buddy that I can bring more people in on the call than he can!
Here's the call in information:  9:00 p.m. Central 10:00 p.m. Eastern - 212-461-5860 access code 2636#. I always look forward to the call as it DOES get my old bones excited with all the possibilities!
Now's the time to get started and by Christmas you should have your own nice monthly commission check coming in to help out with those gift expenses!

It sure looks like our small town of Dauphin has finally caught up with the rest of the crazy world.
24 bullets strike house in Dauphin
Someone fired 24 shots from a semiautomatic rifle into a home in the 300 block of Allegheny Street, Dauphin borough, early yesterday, state police said.

No one was injured, but three people were inside the house at 4:35 a.m. when the shots were fired. Witnesses told police the shooter drove away in a white SUV traveling east on Allegheny Street. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call state police at 717-671-7539.
Can you believe that! 24 bullets! I think whoever did it sure did want to "scare" the folks inside...  If you look at the top two panes of glass in this window, photo above, you can see the bullet holes! In the front of the house there was an area where there were about 13 bullet holes all grouped in about a square yard area.
Here's the "skinny" that I dug up on the deal... Now don't take this as the gospel truth as it came from "supposedly" someone who knows the woman in the house that lives there... Anyway, this is the story that's going around..
Seems like the lady that lives there has a child that she told her former boyfriend that she was going to sue him for support.
It apparently "pissed" him off enough to "hire" another dude to go up and blow holes all through the house to "scare" her into dropping the suit..
At least that's the "story" that's going around town.
Three people were in the house at the time... The lady, the child, and maybe hmmmmmm another new boyfriend?  Who knows, but I'm sure it will all come out in the future.... If and when it does.... I'll let you in on just what happened....   (Disclaimer ----  All of the above that's printed in blue may be nothing more than a fairy tale or just plain, gossip... Like I said it's just a story that is going around town.) Believe it or don't!
