T.G.I.F. Yep we're at the end of the week and lookin' forward to a GREAT weekend. We're starting off good with a nice sunny morning. My tomato seedlings are really lovin' this weather here in Central Pennsylvania.
I'm sure as heck not ready for my weekend as I still have most of the
Once A Month Association end of the month material to get done. I'll be working on that all day. Everything else will have to sit until that's done. I do have some done but most is yet to do. It's going to be very busy around here today.
I sure hope you don't have much to do to get ready before you start your weekend. Fridays can be a hassle.
I hope I get the time to get my boat in the River over the weekend. If I do I'll post a picture of it up here for you to see. Last year I go so busy with my 2 - $2 downline builders that I didn't even get it in the water! The $2 downline builders are doing as good as ever but I have them more automated now and it takes less time to do them. Of course it didn't hurt any when the
The Coin Saver's Club took over a lot of the work for the $2 Buck Downline Builder. At any rate, I'm developing another pre-launch situation for the The Coin Saver's Club that will begin to eat into my time this summer but until then.....  I'll be doing at least a little fishing....
I must get back to working on the
Once A Month Association stuff that has to go out today so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend, See you in May!!!

Another beautiful sunny day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania and it's supposed to go all the way up to 75 degrees today! Wow! Spring may have finally arrived!
Things are really getting busy here at my home business office as the end of the month is just about here and I must get a lot done before we go into a new month. The end of the month is always my busiest mainly because this is the time of the month that I must get out all the monthly mailings for the
Once A Month Association. This includes writing a newsletter and bringing our Monthly Member Benefit Directory up to date and of course running statements and issuing checks. This usually takes more than a day to complete even with Betty's help. So for the next day or so I'll REALLY be busy.....
Most of our trees have their new clothing of brand new leaves on them. There are a few late comers though. It's really great to look across the river and see the mountain turning green. It never ceases to amaze me how neat nature is.
We always keep an American Flag in our back yard facing the river but the one we have now is a bit ragged from all the winter weather so our next trip out I'd better pick up a new flag. If I'm going to keep a flag up, I better keep a good looking one there.
Well, with all the work to be done over the next two days, I'd better get my butt back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

It's a nice sunny day here in Central Pennsylvania but a bit on the cool side. However they are calling for it to go up to 75 degrees tomorrow so it will be getting better. It's okay with me as I'm more than ready for Spring.
I didn't get a whole lot done here in the office yesterday as it had rained so long when the sun came out yesterday I spent the entire afternoon and evening mowing the yard and cleaning up debris down at the river. As the days are longer, until I finished up, the day was just about shot. I did get a few things done last evening but not a heck of a lot.
I had to bring my tomato seedlings in last night as it went down into the 30s over night. Actually when I woke up at 5:30 this morning, it was 38 degrees on the deck out back. I just now took them back out onto the deck and into the sunshine. Right now they're doing GREAT! I'll be putting them into the soil in another couple of weeks. Our last frost date around here is about May 10th.
Boy, the rabbits are out in force now around here. Yesterday when I was working outside I must have seen about 20 of them! They were enjoying the sunshine as well! The birds are out if force too, here this morning. One house wren has been messing around right out side my office windows for about an hour. I think she's planning on building a nest out there. The one side of my office is all windows and the front is full length windows from the floor to the ceiling and a sliding glass door so even when I'm in my office working I have a GREAT view of the outdoors.
Betty's been working on her flower garden right outside my front door so I should be seeing a splash of color out there pretty soon.
We have a few geese stopping in our back yard that come in from the river. Pretty soon we'll be seeing a bunch of "kids" with them as this is about the time of the year for it. When that happens I'll grab a couple of pictures and post them up here for you to see.
Well I do have a bunch to get done today..... so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

It's a beautiful, sunny day here in Central Pennsylvania, FINALLY! It's not supposed to get that warm today with a predicted high of only 60 degrees but I'll sure settle for it. Anything but more rain. At least for awhile.
Yesterday really pulled through with the usual Monday's large mail day and I'm still going through it. I don't even have it all sorted as of yet but should by this afternoon. Lot's of applications coming in for the $2 = SUCCESS downline builder that ends on April 30th. It's great!
Today, being election day, I must find some time to get to the polls to do my thing. Maybe when I go to the Post Office. I'll be glad after today as a lot of the mud slinging ads on TV will stop after the election. I'm just so darn sick of hearing them.
Also, if it dries out enough today, I'd better get some mowing done. The grass is growing fast with all the rain we've had lately. It's tough to keep up with it when it won't stop raining long enough to mow the darn stuff.
As I look around my desks, there's a lot to get done today...... so..... for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

The start of a brand new week! It's raining here, again, in Central Pennsylvania and with no surprise the mighty Susquehenna river that runs through our back yard is on the rise again. It's been raining all weekend and the weather people are calling for rain yet today and tomorrow. The river's supposed to rise a few feet. It will cover our "lower 40" (the back yard), but should be of no threat to the house.
I took notice on my browser home page, www.excite.com that they are having an election poll on the campaign issues. I'm sure there are campaign issues, but I haven't heard much of them for our local politicians running for the senate or just about any other office. Looks like their campaign millions have been spent on advertising just how bad the other candidate running against them is. It's disgusting. I have no idea where they stand on the issues but I do know that one of them is spending my tax dollars with no thought as to using them to do something worth while and between doing that he's taking trips all over the world for fun with my tax dollars. And the other guy apparently is no better as he lies all the time, don't know his butt from a hole in the ground, and is financed by rich drunks that he does favors for. Yep, we have quite a selection here in Pennsylvania. If you believe any of their advertising campaigns, neither one is worth the power it takes to blow them to He**!
Well, I'm going to take some time today and search the independent runners. I want to see if they can tell me what they plan on doing if I give THEM my vote.  I just may give all my votes to the independents. I've really got the craps with the "regulars".... The one guy's been a senator for 24 years.... and I haven't seen much that he's accomplished. He'll be 74 years old this year and I think he's over due for retirement as after all those years I'm sure he's lost the grip on true reality of the plights of people with children to raise, etc.
The other main guy running against him apparently is younger but not much better as according to his adversary he lies all the time...  That puts me right back at looking at the independent candidates.
I just wish one of them would take some of their campaign money to tell me what they plan to do to lower our gas prices and heating costs. NOW! Tell me something that's going to help me live better...
Well, I know you'll be happy to hear that's all the politics you'll hear out of me probably for this year....
We had a great weekend around here at the Blue Bird Cottage...  Couldn't get much done out doors as it rained a LOT.... but we did enjoy ourselves indoors and I got some work done in the office..  I still have some stuff to get done before my trip to the post office, mainly to write checks and pay some bills, and then get a bank deposit ready.... Once I get that out of the way I'll be off to the post office. Today being Monday should bring me a nice stack of mail to work on this afternoon..... With all that in mind, It's back to work for me and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

T.G.I.F Here we are at the beginning of a brand new weekend once again. It's rainy here in Central Pennsylvania and probably will be most of the weekend. We should get a break from the rain drops from time to time over the weekend. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I know I'm ready for a nice, easy weekend....
Just in case it does rain for most of the weekend I'm going to make a trip to our library on Saturday and stock up on some movies.. I was going to go today but I remembered that they started to close down on Fridays because they claim they are low on funds. I can't understand that as everyone who owns property, here in Dauphin County, have a special tax on our property tax bill specifically for the Library. If you take all the property in Dauphin County it must be a lot of money for the Library. Now, I'm aware that there are about 4 libraries in Dauphin County but we should still be taking about millions of dollars... I think I'll "nose" around and see just how much is involved. I know I spend a good 20 bucks a month there renting movies etc. I'm sure others are just as hooked on movies as I am. Oh well the one I go to is a well stocked library and I'm sure it must cost a fortune to keep open and stocked..... Maybe they should start charging a few bucks for the library cards. As of now they are FREE.....
I received a nice batch of mail yesterday and am still working on a few orders this morning. It will probably be late afternoon until I'm ready for my daily trip to the post office. So I'm going to cut this post a little short here this morning and get my butt back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!

So far it's a nice sunny day here in central Pennsylvania. They are calling for rain this afternoon so I'll enjoy the sun while I can.....
I kind of thought that I was getting enough spam but now it seems I'm getting spam from the politicians that are running for office. Well maybe not true spam but a lot of the newsletters etc. that I did opt for are coming through with their ads in them. Wow! I can't believe the money this guys must have to spend on getting elected. We have one guy here in Pennsylvania that's running for another term in congress, I think he's already been a senator for 24 years, named Arlen Specter. Every time it seems that I turn on the TV or radio no matter which station is, they are running an ad of him cutting up the other guy who's running against him and pushing himself. He keeps saying, "I authorized this message." I'm so sick of hearing that phrase it's pitiful. He is careful not to say, "I authorized this ad." No, it's a message that he wants to tell me how GREAT he is and how BAD his adversary is. It seems like every other day I'm receiving a piece in the mail from his "supporters" telling me that the other guy is a crud and to re-elect Arlen Specter. I'm starting to think that Arlen Specter must own the Republican party here in PA.  If he doesn't, they REALLY must want him to stay a Senator in the worst way to provide him with all these funds....  He's got to be spending millions on advertising already and we still have a lot of time 'til election day. I think that to make everything fair, they should only allow each candidate a WEB site to advertise themselves and tell folks how great they are and to introduce their families and kids, period! That way we could go to their site and research them at our convenience and we wouldn't be undulated with advertising and mud slinging! That way it wouldn't matter how much money each one had to advertise themselves.... Oh! I'm sorry, to send us messages. Each would have their WEB site and that would be it. Don't you think that would be a good solution? People who don't yet have computers could use one at their local library to go "have a look".....
I know, it will never happen as that would be too fair. As usual the ones with the most money will win. Maybe not all of them. Once in a while a "dark horse" slips in but 99% of the time the money wins, hands down....
Not much going on here at the office today.... Just the same old, same old.... I do, as usual, have some stuff to get done today before my trip to the post office so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

Overcast but pretty pleasant here today in Central Pennsylvania. The mighty Susquehenna river, that runs through our back yard, is almost down to normal levels. ("That's a good thing" as Martha would say.)
I have plenty of work here in my home office to keep me pretty busy all day today but nothing that's really pushing. That's what I like.... no push, push, push to drive me nuts. Actually, if I do get caught up with all my work, I have plenty of things I'd like to do like tune up my computers and study and learn some software that I've installed but don't know how to use as of yet. A lot of stuff that should be done, here in the office, that I just can't take time off from the work and orders, that have to go out, to do. If I don't get too many phone calls I'll be in pretty good shape today to get a bunch done today.
I'm going to try and take some time for a trip to the library. I must return some books and movies that I've borrowed and rented. Last night Betty and I watched a movie called, "Rundown", starring the wrestling star, "The Rock", Christopher Walken, and a young fellow named Seann William Scott. No, I spelled "Seann" properly. It seems he spells his name with 2 Ns. If you like action movies you'll love this one! "The Rock" turns out to be a darn good actor. I think he's going to be another Arnold Schwarzenegger. Actually, even better than Arnold was. You can check out the movie and a trailer, (preview) of it at: http://therundown.com/
There's another thing I missed as I got older... When did Previews of movies become Trailers? It used to be that when you went to the movies they would show "Previews" of upcoming movies. Now they show "Trailers" instead.
Oh well, that shouldn't surprise me any...  as I remember when Coke meant a soda, shit was manure, and blow was something the wind did. Okay, I'll stop right there.... Don't get upset, I'm not here to bore you..... Just to bring you a little shot of my world, as lame as it is at times and as GREAT as it is at other times.....
Take about time.... I think it's time for me to get back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Wednesday!!!!  Some good jokes today.... check 'em out!!!

Not a bad day but a bit cooler here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania.
Things are picking up around here with applications for the $2 = SUCCESS downline builder. It must be human nature because each time a phase is ready to expire I get a "spurt" of applications. The current Phase III expires the end of this month. On May 1st we will begin Phase IV so if any application comes in late, they will automatically be sent the new circular and information for Phase IV. About the 2nd week of May downline reports and join packages will be mailed to all members who have registered for Phase III. I like it when things pick up..... it gets me excited!
I'm looking for a pack or two of a particular brand of tomato seeds. They come in a plastic packet and are called "Flower Pot Tomato." If you have a store near you that carries them, please email me. I would REALLY appreciate it. These are the best tasting and highest producing tomatoes I've EVER grown and I am now out of them. (The seeds that is!) I had a few seeds left over from last year in the refrigerator and planted all that where there. (Only about 8 seeds.) All but 2 seeds germinated and I felt pretty good. Every morning I've been watering the fragile seedlings, (they are only about an 1" high), and then taking them out on the deck and placing them on the wide railing top around the deck to get sunlight. Yesterday the wind really started to blow and it never hit me that the tomatoes where in danger until I walked out on the deck to check the river and the seedling flat lay on the deck floor upside down! Of course when I up righted it the tomato plants went every which way and most got just plain smashed. I salvaged what I could but it's only a few plants and I would like to get some more started. I checked the place where we purchased the "Flower Pot Tomato" seeds last year but they don't have any left and did not reorder any. So next trip out please take a look around and see if anyone has them. I bought them at one of our local "Family Dollar" stores so anyplace that has a seed stand could possibly have them......
For some odd reason I received a lot of email this morning that needs answering so I guess I'd better get to that first and right now! YOU have a GREAT day!!!

It's a bright, sunny beginning of the week here in Central Pennsylvania. We had a beautiful weekend! We're supposed to have another beautiful day today.
I just enjoyed the day mostly on Saturday. I got a little work done here in the office but not much. Yesterday, Sunday, I worked outside some and got a good bit done. I also had our first barbeque of this year. I cleaned up the grille and did some baked potatoes and chicken. We of course ate out on the deck overlooking the river. The warm sun really felt good. It was just a GREAT day all and all!
Last evening I worked on the
$2 Buck Downline Builder data base. I ran the downline statements for the folks who signed up people in the last month to the downline builder. From March 15th to April 15th. I also ran mailing labels and printed envelopes. All will be assembled this morning and in the mail today. If you are in the $2 Buck Downline Builder and have signed anyone into your downline in the last month you will receive a statement, probably this week, even if you have only signed one person. I provide this service for free for anyone in our downline builder where the circulars come to me. If you are using some circulars going back to the company, they too will send you a downline report once a month. You may end up getting two. So if you are mailing both types of circulars you may end up getting two statements. Call the company to find out what time of the month they send out theirs.
I stopped at the library on Saturday and picked up a couple of computer books to brush up on my Internet skills. I started reading them over the weekend and I'm learning a lot that I didn't know before. I think we all must, every once in a while, brush up on things. Especially as far as the WEB, Internet, and our computers go. Things are changing rapidly.
Now, all I need is the time to implement some of the new stuff I've learned..  I did get some new ideas for Internet searches also so I'll be using them right away. There's not a day goes by that I don't search the WEB for something.
I do have some things to get done before my trip to the post office so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

T.G.I.F. It's another beautiful sunny day here in Central Pennsylvania. Wow! 2 days in a row.
The mighty Susquehenna River that runs through are back yard, (or should I say at the moment, the River that runs IN our back yard), has just crested and will be on it's way back down. By tomorrow it should be about 2 feet lower.
Yes, that picture at the left is me. I've had a lot a people write and ask me if I'm a real person and if so what do I look like? Well, yes I'm a real person and I hope the picture doesn't scare off too many of you. I try to keep the size of this daily file as low as possible so it loads just as fast as it can on your computer. Especially for you folks who have a phone modem hook up. The picture is only an extra 30.8 KB so it really shouldn't have much effect on the time of your page download.  However, if you read this daily or tap into it if nothing else for the daily joke sheet, on a regular basis, your computer will keep most of the "stuff" on the page on your hard drive so it will load faster. If you have any problem at all viewing this site, please email me and let me know about it.
Looks like we're in for a GREAT weekend weather wise. I would like to get out and visit some early yard sales tomorrow if I can talk Betty into it.  I know I drag a bunch of stuff home that I'll probably never use but I've also found a lot of "good stuff" that I use even for my business. Copy paper, typewriters, computers, office supplies... all kinds of neat "stuff".....  Of course if you just can't get out and around to the yard sales in your neighborhood don't forget the biggest online yard sale at www.ebay.com you can still have fun from home shopping here. I buy a lot of VCR and DVD movies and book there as you just can't beat the price and service and have them delivered right to your front door!
Let me know what you're planning for this weekend and where you live!
I know I have plenty to get done here in the office today before my weekend starts so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!

There's a big round yellow thing up in the sky here at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania..... I think it's the sun.... it's hard to tell as we haven't seen it in a week! Yes, yes, it IS the sun.... We're starting out here with a beautiful day and we're going to need a few of these to dry out. It's been raining for about a week and everything is soaked.... It is today, however, a BEAUTIFUL day!
I even saw a couple of squirrels in the back yard playing this morning. They must have been holed up as well waiting on the sun to return. The river is on the rise again after all this rain and it's predicted to go all the way up to 11 feet by Tomorrow morning. It's about 8 feet now so it's definitely on the rise. So much for finishing my brush cutting, burning, and cleaning up the debris that the high waters dumped in the back yard a couple of weeks ago. When this rise goes back down I can start all over again! Oh well, when you live along a large river like the mighty Susquehenna you have to expect these set backs.  We have this kind of stuff in a small town like Dauphin........
I sure hope you have your taxes done as today is the last day. Wow! I can't believe a couple of centuries ago we Americans got so teed off with England about taxing our tea we started a war with them. Now our own government takes half of what we make and WE worry to get it paid to them on time! Who'd a "thunk" it? We have come a long way, or have we?
Business has slacked off a bit in the last couple of days and that's just fine with me as I DO need the break. It's hard to keep pushing all the time. I do have a good bit planned for today though and I must do some work on my website at www.homebucks.com and bring a lot of "stuff" up to date. I also still have some mail from yesterday I must get through before my trip to the post office..... so.... with that in mind, It's back to work for me and YOU, YOU have a GREAT Thursday!!!

Nothing new as far as the weather goes here in Central Pennsylvania. It's STILL raining! Hopefully we'll get a break pretty darn soon...  We SURE need it!
Watch out when you sign up for any kind of cell phone plan. I signed for one a few months ago and I wish now that I'd have stayed with my old one and just bought a new telephone. I was only paying about $25 a month for the old plan and it had enough time for just about all I wanted to do with it. But I thought if I got a plan with more long distance minutes it would be better and I wouldn't have to buy more phone cards. That part turned out okay however, the $39.95 plan has turned into an almost $50 a month plan. Until they put on tons of taxes and federal phone charges the $39.95 grows to about $46 bucks! Last time I received my bill it was just about $50 and had almost $5 in "roaming charges" on it. Since I never get over a 50 mile radius of where I live I wondered how the heck I made "roaming" calls. It turned out that it was 2 calls to Betty's phone here at home from our post office about 1 1/2 miles away! I had to call "customer assistance." It took me over a half an hour to explain that the 2 calls in question, (that lasted only about 4 minutes total", was made within less than 2 miles from my "home base."  They still weren't convinced so I asked them which terminal their records said the called came from. It was from one in New York State! I explained that the nearest terminals to me would be in Harrisburg and why would the phone pick a terminal in New York, (over 200 miles from me) to connect my phone?
Finally after a half an hour they decided to "credit" me with the "over charge." Yes, I wish I would have never heard of them and I'm "locked" into a contract with them for a year. I now can't wait for it to run out. I think I'm going back to my old provider. At least when they say the contract is this or that a month, that's just what it is.. Not almost 10 bucks more!
Yesterday was a pretty good mail day here so I have plenty to get done before my daily trip to the the post office, so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

It's still raining here in Central Pennsylvania. As of now the National Weather Bureau has out all kinds of flood warnings. Looks like they're calling for rain, off and on, up until Thursday. The good news is everything is turning green and it's starting to look like Spring. However the temperatures don't seem like Spring as it's way too cold out. I guess it could always be worse.
Looks like we're in for a very productive day here in my home office though. Can't get anything done out doors so it looks like I'll be working in here all afternoon.
Those of you who are in the $ = SUCCESS downline builder for the Tape of the Month club don't forget that the Phase III runs out the end of this month. Don't stop promoting though as 1st of all any of your prospects that come in late, will automatically be mailed the new promotion material for Phase IV. Also secondly for some reason, and I guess it just must be chalked up to human nature, people wait until the last minute to join things. Usually we have more sign-ups at the end of a Phase than at any other time in the Phase. Amazing, but true! So keep mailing your circulars and you should get some good responses here in the last month of Phase III.
The The Coin Saver's Club has come up with new circulars for the $2 downline builder this month besides my original
$2 Buck Downline Builder. I've mailed out all of my company circulars as Jeff Charlton did say with his test mailing of them they out pulled My $2 Buck Circular by 4% to 6%. (Don't hold my toes to the fire on that one but I'm pretty sure that's the percentage he quoted.) After mailing out the company's circulars I am now mailing copies of my original promo $2 Buck Circular as that IS the one I originally used to build my downlines and it STILL is pulling good for me. We'll see how well the new company circulars do...
I'm still receiving lots of applications with the original $2 Buck Circular. I received a bunch yesterday that I will be keying into the data base this morning and will be mailing them out in today's mail.
Talking about getting things done to mail in today's mail, it's time for me to get back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

The beginning of a brand new week and a wet one here in Central Pennsylvania. It started to rain off and on yesterday and it's supposed to continue for the next few days. Everything is turning green and growing like wild fire.
Saturday was nice and sunny and I worked most of the day in the "lower 40", (the back yard), cleaning and burning sticks and debris that the high spring waters of the mighty Susquehenna river, that flows through our back yard, left over the last few weeks. I'm also cutting down brush and bushes that grew over the year along the river. I still have more to go but I did get a lot done. It is going to take longer than I first thought though. It felt good just to be working outside for a change. Even though it brought a lot of aches and pains, (but I'm NOT used to doing that kind of work anymore), it did give me a good feeling of getting a lot accomplished.
I had a slow mail day on Saturday and that was just fine as it gave me more time to work outdoors and now, being Monday I'm sure my mail box will be pretty full today so I kind of look forward to doing some work here in my home office today. Apparently it's going to be a good day to work indoors.
Betty's sons, one and then the other stopped yesterday to bring their mom her Easter flowers. They really smell great and it's another thing to remind of me of Spring when I walk into the kitchen and the aroma from the flowers hits me. Wow..... Betty will enjoy transplanting them to the outdoors pretty soon. Her daughter Tammy also stopped in for awhile yesterday with her daughter and we had a nice visit. What else did we do for Easter?  Hmmmm. well we had a nice dinner. We don't have conventional dinners anymore since I stopped eating red meat over 10 years ago... So yesterday for dinner we had spaghetti and turkey white meat hot dogs. I know it may sound ugly to you but believe me it's mmmm  mmmm good!
Yeah, they make all white meat hot dogs now. The brand name of them is "Ball Park Franks." They are a little more expensive than the usual run of the mill doggies but they taste just about like a regular good hot dog without all the organ meat, pork, and beef in them. We use them for lots of meals.. We never seem to tire of them and they have almost no carbohydrates in them! If you're watching your blood sugar or just trying to lose weight, you can't go wrong with them. Locally, around our neck of the woods, Weis Markets and Giant used to carry them but lately Weis don't carry them anymore, however Giant still does and we've also found them at Wal-Mart's food outlet. They're even a bit cheaper at Wal-Mart.
Well, I do have some stuff I must get done before my daily trip to the post office so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

T.G.I.F. It's bright an sunny and a beautiful day here at the Blue Bird Cottage in central Pennsylvania. It's supposed to climb to 60 degrees today and they're not calling for rain until Sunday. Looks like we just me get some yard work done this weekend. I hope so as our back yard looks like a hurricane hit it!
A couple of my tomato seedlings got pretty lanky because of lack of light and died off so I had to replant a few more seeds. Most came up pretty good though and are doing fine. I move the seed bed into the sun when I can. I guess for perfect conditions I should have a "grow" light on them but hey, they should grow by giving them all the light that daytime provides. They sure didn't have "grow" lights years ago... Come to think of it, they didn't have computers years ago either... hmmmmmmmmmm.. Oh well, it's a good excuse anyway. Not having a grow light that is..  No, I'm not going to buy a green house either to start a few tomatoes..  That's about all that's going in my garden again this year..  I just love those fresh, home grown tomatoes.
A local newspaper columnist had some pretty neat comments in her column yesterday that I thought you may get a kick out of...
In the news........
Self-service supersedes convenience
Earlier this week I found myself battling the cold and the wind while pumping $1.62-a-gallon gasoline into my van.
Because I've been traveling back and forth to State College this semester to teach, I've pumped a lot of overpriced gas since January.
I've pumped during the cold and the snow and the rain and the wind, mostly at Sam's Club to save a few bucks.
From Our Advertiser Sam's Club is convenient to my home, and charging the fuel on my Sam's card allows me to write a check just once a month.
That's what passes for convenience these days.
But I remember a time when life was more convenient.
When I was in high school, I used to pull up in my VW Bug and an attendant would pump 50 cents worth of gasoline, check the motor oil and clean the windshield, often with a smile.
Now, I pump $30 worth of gas then drive around with a dirty windshield, wondering about the oil. And I miss the smile.
Lots of businesses advertise convenience. But convenience is relative.
When I was a kid, someone brought milk to our door. Another guy delivered bread.
A farmer arrived once a week with eggs, and a guy pulled in the driveway every Friday in a truck filled with ice cream.
Now, we have convenience stores. That's what we call them.
But how convenient is it to pull on a coat, find your shoes, walk out to the car and drive somewhere when you need to get an egg or a slice of bread?
In the days when the farmer, the milkman and the others were stopping by our house, the insurance man used to come, too.
Think about it next time you're in the supermarket scanning and bagging your own groceries.
She's right on the money with that article.. There was more but you get the idea... Most of us know what she's talking about. Some of us are too young. It's a shame that the younger folks had no experience with the milk man, egg man or the meat man. Boy, I know I'll never forget the ice cream man. We used to hear his music for a mile away which gave us plenty of time to beg mom for some money to get some. Of course if I remember right, mom used to have us get her a treat as well.
Well, as I look around my desk there is a bunch of "stuff" that needs done before my weekend starts.... so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!

It started out nice and sunny here in Central Pennsylvania this morning but has since then  turned overcast and dreary. According to the weather folks that's what we'll see the rest of the day along with rain. Well, this is Spring time and Spring does bring rain. I did get a chance to mow the "lower 40", (back yard along the river), last evening.
I did get some of the crap cleaned up that high waters left in our back yard but there is plenty to clean up yet and it will probably take an entire day to get it "back to normal."
In the news..............
I stumbled onto an article about Terry Nichols trail. Terry Nichols is the guy who was supposed to be involved with Timothy McVeigh in the bombing of the Federal Building on April 19, 1995. In the small article it has a paragraph that is some of what his ex wife testified to. The small paragraph reads, "Padilla, (the ex-wife), testified that Nichols had collected gold and silver bullion coins; authorities discovered gold coins searching the Nichols home." Now, this got my attention as it mentioned this among the testimony that Nichols had sold fertilizer etc. that may have had to do with the bombing. Does this mean that if we save gold and silver bullion we are thinking like a terrorist? Wow! I've always been interested in saving gold and silver. I don't have any gold, (can't afford it), but I do have a few pieces of silver on hand. (The grandkids get some of it from time to time.) Does this mean I think like a terrorist? I just can't understand why this would even be mentioned in the trial? Scary, isn't it? It sure is to me.. Anyway if it interests you click here, the article, to read it.
Do you work in a cubicle all day? Do you decorate it? ABC Morning Show is having a contest this week to see who has the best decorated cubicle in America. Don't forget to set your tape recorder before you head for work to see how yours compares to theirs!
Lot's to get done here in my little home office before I head to the post office so for me it's back to work, and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!

It's sunny again here in at the Blue Bird Cottage in Central Pennsylvania. That's two days in a row....  WOW! I'm getting spoiled.
Last week was one of Betty's Great Granddaughters birthday. She was 15 years old. When we sent our usual birthday card I mentioned to Betty that now that's she's getting older perhaps we'd better increase the money we usually send her. So we doubled our usual amount. Betty was talking to the mom last night and it seems that the child's daddy gave her $200, her God mother gave her $200........ and it seems that between all of the relations and folks that came to her party she received over $600 in cash!!  Yep you read it right, 600 bucks! I'm glad for the child but it all sounds like a bit much for me. Has inflation gotten that bad? I remember for one of my birthday's receiving $1.00 from my Grand Dad. I think I was about 11 years old at the time..
I know at times when I haven't really felt that good or just got out of one of my trips to the hospital, several folks told me to "hire" a neighborhood kid to mow my grass for awhile until I got back on my feet. I didn't but I'm glad I didn't as it seems that most kids do not have any conception of the value of money these days. What would I pay them? I have no idea.....  I know it would NOT be as much as they expect so it's better if I just do it myself.....  How can kids get a grasp on the value of money at all. I did learn that one of the grandkids last year received a portable DVD player for their birthday. Holy cats.... most that I've seen of those run over 600 bucks....
It's not that their parents are "well to do" as like most they make their bills each month with a little left over....  Like the kids next door, I see some of the "stuff" they get from their parents for gifts.... and they wonder why most kids today just sit around the house and play electronic games etc....  I'll never "get it." Things sure have changed even since my kids were small....  I'm not sure that it was a change for the good.... though.
At any rate... lot's on my desks to get done today so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

It's a beautiful, sunny, windy morning here in Central Pennsylvania. It's supposed to go up into the mid 50s today so it looks like we'll get some warm up as tomorrow it's supposed to hit 60 degrees! That's okay with me as I'm ready for Spring!
Betty received her monthly commission check from The Coin Saver's Club and it was up about $30 dollars from last month! That's great as she's barely just getting started. She's well into profit already and has a nice tidy amount left after expenses. It can ONLY get better from here on out as I'm helping her send out her promotional circulars every month plus we're making extra and mailing them as well for her. By this time next year she should have a nice BIG commission check coming each month from this program. I haven't received my check this month as of yet but maybe today or tomorrow. I don't understand it as they are usually mailed on the same day out at the main office in Missouri but somehow they never seem to arrive here in the same day! Go figure.....
Yesterday brought a nice pile of mail as it usually does on Mondays. I've gotten through and sorted most of it but still have a small pile to get through this morning.
Looks like Betty is going to do laundry down in Dauphin so I'll be by myself for several hours this afternoon. I'll probably have a bunch of stuff for her to do when she gets home.
I did want to mention that I ran into a very interesting WEB site yesterday. Actually it was Kim Komando's cool site of the day. It has actual personal accounts written by folks that were actually there at historical happenings throughout history.  This kind of stuff really interests me. I read the account of when Socrates committed suicide. It seems that it was not a conventional suicide at all but he had to drink the hemlock poison as he was sentenced to death! Many other stories are here from ancient Greece to date.  This is also a great site to bookmark if you have children or grand children in school as it is a great place for research. It even has an account of when President Lincoln was assassinated. Click here to get there and don't forget to book mark it! Eye Witness to History
Well, looking around my desks, for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

Monday, the beginning of a brand new week! It's nice, bright, and sunny here in Central Pennsylvania but very cold and windy. It's supposed to only reach into the low 40s today and go down to 22 degrees tonight! Brrrrrrrrrrrr that's cold! We are definitely stuck into a cold pattern here at the Blue Bird Cottage.
Although it rained practically all weekend we did have a nice weekend. We went out and had a nice meal at the new Chinese restaurant,
"The Grand Buffet," in Harrisburg on Saturday and came home and spent the rest of the day doing anything we wanted to. (Mostly laze around.) We haven't had one of these kind of days for awhile and if felt good.
Sunday morning we changed our clocks to Daylight Saving time. It always takes me a few days to get used to the change. I really slept late this morning but if I were going by last week's time it really wasn't that late...  Oh well thank goodness I don't have to be elsewhere to go to work. I'd be up the creek without a paddle.
The grass is growing like crazy even in this cold weather and as soon as it warms up a bit I'll be mowing the lower 40, (the back yard), as it's getting quite deep down there already. Right now the might Susquehenna River that flows through our back yard is up and down like a yo-yo as we've had so much rain lately. As soon as that settles down some I must get down there and do some clean up work from all the debris that the high waters brought and dumped in our yard. It's an on going battle when you live beside a river..  It's nice in the Summer to be able to go down and jump in your boat and go fishing, but by golly it is a "pain in the ass" the bulk of the year.
Well, today being Monday, I will be probably getting quite a bit of mail to go though and I must get a few things done before me trip to the post office so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day!!!

T.G.I.F. It's the end of the work week and still raining cats & dogs here in Central Pennsylvania. I think it's supposed to rain most of the weekend so we won't be working outside in the yard this weekend..  Mostly indoors...
I have plenty to get done here in the office over the weekend but I intend to take some time off this weekend. As the weather is not going to be that good I'm going to rent several Movies from our Library. That will give us plenty to watch if we feel like hibernating this weekend. Betty wants to visit a "viewing" at a funeral parlor early this afternoon of a friend that she knew for years so after that we'll probably eat out and then stop at the Library on the way home.....  They have lots of movies we haven't seen yet and at $1.50 a pop you can't beat the price and we get to keep them for an entire week! I also borrow audio books from them. I don't get much time to actually read books, I have trouble just keeping up with my magazine subscriptions but when I do something in the office that don't require concentration I can listen to an audio book in the back ground. I get to "read" plenty of books this way and keep up on the latest books that are out. We sure get "our money's worth" at our library, here at our house.
The mail load seems to be picking up around here as a lot more people are joining money making programs that can be worked from their homes in the attempt to make some extra money or to replace the income due to losing their jobs..  There will always be folks who are anxious to make money from home. Yes, there are scams running on the WEB and in the mail but if you study them and keep in mind that "If they look and sound too good to be true", they usually are...  All the programs I'm in require time and money investment to get paid actual commission checks.  Keep that in mind when you go looking for home opportunities...
Lot's to get done before we head off today so for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT weekend!!!

April Fools Day! It's raining like cats and dogs here in Central Pennsylvania and the weather bureau at Penn State has already issued flood warnings for the mid state and that includes us. Right now it's only for small streams but they are talking about the mighty Susquehenna river, (that runs through our back yard), is on it's way up and may approach at least cautionary stage. If that's the case we'll be safe....  It rained yesterday and all night and is supposed to rain all of today, tonight and into tomorrow..  What's up with this crazy weather? Oh well, the bright side is that we'll have plenty of water to start Spring with.
This office has been a mad house since yesterday morning..  Betty and I are still working on the
Once A Month Association stuff. The good news is that hopefully all of the statements, etc. should be in the mail by this afternoon.
I'll be working in the office just about the entire day today but that's okay as it's so miserable outside this is a GREAT day to be indoors.
Well, as I have so much to get done this morning for me it's back to work and YOU, YOU have a GREAT day! ----- Check out today's jokes... some good ones today!
